About Me

6/4/24 - That last one DID end up being almost a month long. And has caused some serious neuro + cardiac issues that haven't let up. I'm losing what I can do in 'regular life' AGAIN.

The NRB group is full of vetted members, so expect Newbie-friendly swaps to mostly move there. If a public swap says there is no minimum requirements, that is because an email is so minor and SB is so broken (blocking people doesn't DO anything) that I can't use energy to vet people individually for those anymore. And yet, newbies often see the public swaps, not newbie-friendly groups! Please join the NRB group for vetted low-stakes swaps.

5/1/24 - The incredible fatigue wasn't just a day or so, like usual. There's something going around that isn't positive for COVID, but there's no fever either? Neck hurts, headache won't stop, and walking across a living room is exhausting to the point of laying on the floor. It's only been some days. I feel lucky- one person I know has been laid up for almost a month, another for a few weeks. Hard to tell with EDS for me, since I'm like this all the time. And today is ALREADY the 1st of May! ... oh no...

I extended deadlines for some swaps, inc. some that haven't been assigned yet. I'll get them out ASAP. Sorry, everyone!

4/28/24 - I got a Mystery Envelope today! 1.58oz, inc. envelope, so it must be a 1-stamp swap with 'extras.' Very nice papers and lots of die cuts! No return address or note. Tulsa OK postmark. Any ideas?

SWAP-BOT BLOG UPDATE:

Blogspot is no longer accepted as a safe site by my ISP so I've gone back to Livejournal. I've been using it off and on for maybe 25 years and it's still one of my favourite blogging sites.

Please bookmark https://nb-sb-notes.livejournal.com/

EMAIL me, please!

Message me for my e-mail address for messages longer than trading links, or anything I need to respond back to with more than a line or two. Otherwise, I have to keep every point of your message completely in my head while composing a response, especially on the phone when I can't get to a computer. So it doesn't happen.

SB was never intended to be an email server. SB Messenger does not allow for photo attachments, messaging multiple people, or most importantly, message chains. I cannot see what you messaged me at the same time that I'm writing back. That alone will significantly delay response times.

I have to go back and open a separate window to look for every single exchange we've had on a topic and any other relevant history before assembling it into a timeline. That is incredibly taxing. I can accomplish other things that are also important, OR I can drop everything for this one stupid message response. Both need to be done, and only enough energy for one 'set' of things.

Also, I can only respond when I'm on an actual computer. I can't do it from my phone. I try to avoid typing on that tiny keyboard for anything at all if it's longer than a phone number. Even my text apps need to be accessible via PC. Relatives who use SMS only often do not get responses because... I can't... type... on... my... PHONE. Which I've repeatedly told people. And yet!

Likes/Dislikes

STUFF I LOVE GETTING:

  • I love trading out washi + stickers. I have lots of them! I like 'academia,' 'dark forest,' animals, all kinds of things that aren't the cute, cartoony kind.
  • Random envelopes that aren't the standard white business envelopes. No notecards needed or anything. Any colours, any sizes, but 4x6" or larger preferred. These are for mailing other swaps out.
  • Die cuts of all kinds.
  • Yiddish postcards, especially early 1900s Yiddish, when they were popular.
  • Embroidery floss + other threads for hand embroidery.
  • Larger-eye needles. Mine are getting dull or somehow I'm losing them. I have piles of standard sewing needles and plastic needles.
  • I neeeed to get a mini-iron, the kind that plug in via USB. geesh.

Everything else, I have So Much of right now and I feel like I need to use more of it before I let myself buy more Things.

Feel free to message me if you want to send any of this stuff instead of the swap items asked for. It isn't a problem!

Dislikes:

It isn't personal, I just won't use these items in my own work. So things I will pass on automatically: - Used stamps - Kiddie stuff, kids' stickers - Most items from Dollar Tree - Most planner stickers unless it's just numbers - Felt stickers - Recipes (too many dietary restrictions. :P It's just a puzzle...)

Please no dog hair, cigarette smells, or strong perfumes. I tend to get migraines and don't have a washing machine, so it could take 2 weeks to hot wash something properly.

Favorite Crafts

  • Sewing basic items. I try to use natural fabrics only, including scraps larger than 2x2" for sewing. Right now my joints are getting worse and will for the forseeable future, so lifting the sewing machine and such in a small space isn't doable easily. But hand-sewing with fine needles for more than a few minutes also isn't... I fear I'm losing one of the very few things I can still do. Any advice?

  • Papercrafts like art journalling, scrapbooking, and some bullet journal/art journal hybrid work for daily use.

Swap FAQs

I started a blog just to post FAQs about my swaps, USPS, tracking, etc.

Please check the link before asking about lost things, swap requirements, why I don't just go off ratings before banning someone, etc.

Comment: Wow, so much detail, I feel my attempt to not be worthy and if there are any more swaps like this I need to prepare more. Even without swaps to send I am going to write a more detailed answer to the original swap brief for myself just because it is so interesting. i loved reading your plans and I look forward to my invite to the event 🧛‍♀️
Response: Not at all! You sent something way better- actual photos and experience in a castle. How amazing! The castle itself is *only* maybe twice the age of my country. :P

Did youuuu send me a second envelope of things, you kind person? 💜 I absolutely love it! The skull is my favorite, of course, but all of these bits and bobs are super fun 👀

Thank you!!! 💜💜💜

(I also opened this while cooking with the family, so it gave me a chance to brag about how amazing you are~)
