Response: So happy you are happy with the swap! The white skin comes from a local taxidermist who sells scraps when she makes a mistake. (Well, the skin comes from an animal, not the taxidermist...you know what I mean.) In this case the animal's ear was done wrong. We live in the wilderness so many of the animals she works with are local, but this one is probably from somewhere farther north where there are snow foxes. I'm really glad you like the package. Would love to see images of your white book some day. Best regards--

Comment: Since you felt it was fine to criticize what I sent to you I will let the truth be known about the "journal" that you sent me. The prompts made no sense and the "journal" was a legal pad with a doily glued on the back with a dirty uneven handmade paper cover. I was not impressed.

Ok---where the heck is the million hearts button?!?!??! Really--this was an Envelope of Wonders! When I saw the running greyhound on the front of the envelope, I knew it had to be a good one! When I saw the ATC i just busted out laughing--- someone who truly understand greyhound limbs! And a fellow ogden nash lover! (some primal termite knocked on wood and tasted it and found it good and that is why your aunt may fell through the parlor floor today!) That greyhound drawing is so so sweet. Thank you so much for greyhounding this swap for me! :) Plus, all the goodies just put me over the top! Where o where did you find that "pecked me in the eye" stationary set?!?!? That is hilarious! In swap info, it was stated that the envelope was to be filled and in subsequent discussion, the host (NorthernBorder) and another participant seemingly qualified the definition of a greeting card envelope as 5 3/4 in x 8 3/4 in. The envelope I received was 6 in x 5 in and its contents contained in a 4 in x 4 1/2 in piece of paper. To cover up how little was in the envelope, the items were wrapped in a torn, scrunched up bit of wrapping paper. I can understand that maybe different people have different understandings of a greeting card sized envelope (although you seemed to agree with the definition offered in the discussion thread), but I can’t really see by any stretch how an envelope only 60% full (including some padding, which couldn’t be considered an item due to the fact it was torn and crumpled) could be considered crammed. The sloppy way in which the items were wrapped also bent most of the paper inside. There was also no note in the package (a swap requirement) and quite a few items were not in my profile at all, which was the whole idea of the swap. NorthernBorder contends that she followed the ~spirit~ of the swap which was inexpensive postage, but by this token, I could send an empty envelope. That would follow the spirit of inexpensive postage for sure, but not the spirit of all swaps which is to meet the requirements and send something your partner would like to receive. She declined to resend anything. I am very disappointed.
I am sorry to leave a poor rating, but it would otherwise not be fair to those who spent lots of time, money and effort into putting together good packages.

You must be able to make really interesting things from all - the birch bark. The balsam smells wonderful! The bones - cool! I'm sure I'll be able to use them in a ritual as well as everything else. The butterfly is especially wonderful because this weekend I will be doing a Shadow ritual and I'll include it in the box I am making to help me let go of this massive depression I've been going through because of all my illnesses. It will be representing transformation and I will also include the songbird feather.

Comment: I love Winslow Homer's work and the postcard is so cool. About my ATC collection - they are stored in baseball card holder sleeves in albums according to the Group I was in at the time. Response: Hello. Thank you very much for the feedback. I completely spaced on writing the note. Here is a humble replacement:
The charm is partly Irish and partly my own family's superstitions. (If I find my scan of it I will post that link.)
IRISH -- My father's heritage is generations of upwardly-mobile Irish immigrants who came through Baltimore and other ports, then made and lost their fortunes on the losing side of the war between the states. The gold coin is a token of prosperity in the new home, and the clover shape is one of our traditional group pride symbols. If you find a four-leafed clover in the grass you are supposed to receive bounty.
FAMILY SUPERSTITION: SIGNIFICANCE OF BEING NAMED -- I made your & the other swap partners' packets as an unfolding paper puzzle spelling your name. This is a way of making an incantation to bring peace and contentment to your life. Some people make these with God or saints' or other holy people's names or words.
