Comment: Thank you for the great zine, lots of thoughtful quotes to contemplate :)
Response: You're welcome. I really like the Lykke (happiness) book. I borrowed it from the library and liked it so much I bought a copy to keep. You are right there is so much thoughtful information and I wanted to share it in a zine. I'm glad you like it.
Comment: Thanks for the great PC and your note.
I like the image very much, for the same reasons you do. I believe I have the same, or at least similar, image somewhere. Now I'm going to have to search. :-)
Response: Happy 4th of July! I hope it wasn't too hot for you. It was a hot 34C up here. Enjoy tonight's fireworks! Won't it be amazing if you have the exact same image in your collection by the same artist. :)
Comment: Received the PC today, thank you very much. It's very interesting to read about the tornado so I looked it up on the internet, they have done an amazing job of restoring as you say. Thank you for sharing this pc.
Response: I'm glad you like the Goderich postcard. Yes it was a spectacular amount of damage. It's uplifting to know it's possible to rebuild so that a little town still has it's historical look and feel.
Comment: Thank you for the great postcard! I love the sheep! (Just a heads up - this swap was supposed to be for a notecard, not a postcard, but I understand the confusion.)
Response: OMG. Thank you for being so understanding and even giving me a heart. I totally missed that it was supposed to be a greeting card style card. I'm glad you liked the sheep in an Ontario pasture postcard.
Comment: Love love love the postcard you created! Awesome stamps and great design! Do you make your stamps out of craft foam or do you carve them that large? I've been wanting to try making craft foam stamps...kind of like Art Foamies - have you seen those...they're addicting (and I think they are from Canada...;)
Response: I'm so glad you like it. :) The biggest stamp was the frame and it's one stamp measuring almost 6"x4". I used the inner rubber material to carve some of the smaller images, so I didn't have a lot of waste. I use a rubber material called Nasco Safety-Kut. It's not the greatest, hard to carve and full of little bubbles but OK for folk art style chunky work. Go here for more information about carving material: https://www.atlasquest.com/about/wiki/browse.php?catId=12
I've never used Art Foamies. Just heard about them recently. They seem like they'd be good of chunky images.
Comment: You must be really excited that the Raptors won; Congrats!
Thanks. Today I received your postcard and it was the 2nd postcard I received so far. I'm super happy. Thanks
Response: It was an exciting sports moment for Canada and especially for Toronto. Cool to hear that my stag postcard was your 2nd so far. That's quite the honour. I have my first 2 postcards received on my postcard display board. :)
Response: Thanks for doing the private swap with me. I was just about to mail that postcard when I realized I forgot to add the quote, that's why it's squeezed into some space that was available on the card.
Comment: Thank you for the great card. I don't really watch the stars but when my husband was alive we used to do a lot of camping and fishing at the state lakes and other lakes around here and I would love seeing the beautiful stars.
Response: Me too, I don't usually watch the stars. I have used one of those star/constellation/planet naming apps on my iPad. Used it a couple of times when I was in remote locations on a clear night. During those rare opportunities I'm amazed by the sheer density of stars and curious about the brightest stars. Technology is great for amateur (infrequent) stargazing.
Thanks for letting me know my postcard arrived, and thank you for the heart. :)
Comment: I LOVE the jellyfish! We have them here off the coast where I live!! ouch!I I enjoy your stamps and kitty sticker, I love me some kittens! Rainy here too, but HOT, every afternoon rain storms
Thank you again!.
Response: Hi B1G. Thank you for the rating with heart. Glad to hear you liked the jelly postcard. Happy summer swapping. :)
Comment: Thank you for the colorful card. The magazine I get from AAA has been an awesome source of pictures for me for this series of cards. Yes our State Capitol is a magnificant building. It alone makes a visit to Topeka worth doing.
Response: Yeah, you got my Maritime cut n paste. Thanks for the heart. :)
Comment: What a sweet illustration! I love Beatrix Potter! I got to visit her home in the Lakes District when I went to Great Britain. Lovely--like a page out of her books! Thanks for the sweet note as well. Tucson is great! Love Mt. Lemon down there!
Response: OMG, Mt Lemmon was a favourite! I heard the Mt Lemmon Cafe closed down. They survived the fire but I think they closed down shortly after. Loved the pies there!
How cool that you actually visited the Potter House.
Comment: Hi Rome thank you for the Gerald Dubois illustration...I post all my cards on Instagram and I put the postage stamp with it :) It's lovely. Happy Spring swapping I just got back from the beach and it's 26C here so hot...saw two bald eagles swooping near the shoreline :) peace love light
Response: Found your instagram feed. It's so interesting to see the postcard with the stamp. Weird bit of serendipity happening. =)
Comment: Thanks for this postcard. Its very interesting. How did you do it ? elflady
Response: It was done with Photoshop. I had multiple layers of multiple images. Did a lot of cropping and removing backgrounds and then meshing things together. The leash was the most difficult part, I had to distort it so the perspective and fit looked right. I was pretty happy with the final result. It was a challenging and fun Photoshop project for me.
Comment: It may take a bit to get here, which is not uncommon with our Canadian snail mail. It is an interesting PC, I did not know about the Handmaid's Tale being filmed there. I enjoyed that information, thank you very much.
Response: Yeah it got there. :) I'm so glad you liked it. Someday I hope I luck out and visit when some HT filming is going on. I'd like to see the ladies in their red capes and white bonnets.
Comment: You did a beautiful job with this swap, It was right to keep it simple.I love it.
Did you take the photo of the turtle?
Response: I didn't take the photo of the turtle. I hope that doesn't disappoint. My photo skills are point and shoot, never developed the eye. I really liked the colour and calm of the water in this photo and thought I could mesh a rainbow of colour into it and still keep the serenity of the scene. Thanks for the heart. :)
Comment: Sorry bout late rating, I do awful with non-mailbox rates! No excuse! I love your phones zine! I have already printed it out and I love it even better read as it's meant to be. I just adore zines of all kinds, thanks so much!
Response: I agree, email swaps are the hardest to remember to rate. Thanks for responding so quickly to my prompt. I know what you mean about printing out a zine, it transforms and becomes even more interesting. Thanks for the hear jen. :)
Comment: I took such a nice walk down memory lane with your telephone zine! I remember the regular rotary dial phone; we had a party line and had regular battles with a neighbor who used to talk forEVER on it! I remember our wall phone in the kitchen with the long cord that could reach all over the room. I loved Green Acres, but apparently missed the episode that explained why they had to climb the pole to use the phone. Lol! Thanks so much for sharing this with all of us! Happy swapping to you!!
Response: We were up at a friend's cottage in the early 80s and they still had a party line. You could listen in on other conversations. Crazy.
Comment: Thanks for this great PC! I love the stamps you and your friend made! Good news! David has seen 1 deer, 1 eagle, and 1 fox on Amook in the last week. Hopefully, there will be more that appear! Hugs from Alaska, Sherry
Response: Feels surreal for me, like reading a novel. But it's real. Sure does point to a global ecological shift. Worrisome. Thank gosh we have postcards to distract us. =}
Comment: Thanks for the nice collage PC. Hamilton House is a good choice for flower gardens. I would also send you 15km south to Prescott Park in Portsmouth NH.
Response: I would love to go back to New Hampshire. We did get to visit White Mountain about 3 years ago. What a scary drive to the peak--no guardrails and fog (clouds were to thick to go all the way to the top). Amazing though and a beautiful area. Loved the drive through New York, Vermont and NH. It was a fun postcard swap. Thanks for the heart.
Comment: Great rundown of the books you read this month. I like that you even had a variation of types too! I've never read a Sarah Scribbles book but I see her comics all over social media and they always make me chuckle :)
Response: I was low on storebought cards (most of mine are handmade/DIY) but I still had this cute white dog that I got in a package from the UK, in my collection. I'm glad you like him. Thanks for the heart.
Comment: Thanks, that's a cool pattern - I thought it was a sunflower at first
Response: Thanks for letting me know you got it. I used a kaleidoscope app and the cover of my bristol board pad of paper. If you look close you can see part of the word bristol. I like it too, because it resembles a sunflower.
Comment: Hi Rome thank you for the Lucy Maud Montgomery PC...that is my daughters favorite author. I like the photoshopped image. Love the poem. Do you belong to the red hat society group ? We have them here but I haven't joined. Love the concept though. I'm not one to let what others think enter into my definition of me. I've always been one to go against the grain lol I'm on my own path. Happy Spring swapping peace love light
Response: I'm too much of an introvert to join the Red Hat Society but I like seeing older women being sassy. I suppose it's not all that unusual these days, many older women have full and colourful lives. The Warning (red and purple) poem got me in a creative postcard making mood.
Comment: Hi Rome thank you for the Niagara Falls PC I like the "vintage" look of it and those muted blue shades of colour. My dream trip is to go on a road trip across Canada. Happy Spring swapping peace love light
Comment: Hello! Thank you so much for the amazing postcard. I had the chance to see Niagara Falls twice but from very far away. I also like the stickers :) Thanks again for the private swap. Good night!
Response: So glad to hear that the postcard arrived. I'm glad you like it. Nice to see your profile rating overview filling up nicely.
Comment: Hi Rome thank you for the beautiful Lake Ontario PC...I love the blue heron birds...we have many here on the island. I love the handmade washi ! That's lovely...I should give it a go sometime. Happy Spring swapping peace love light
Response: Thanks GJ.
Looking forward to swapping again in the future. :)
Comment: Hi Rome, thank you for sharing your hobbies with me. Like you i was /am in Postcrossing. Thanks for sharing about other postcard swap sites and more importantly thank you for hosting this swap, email as well. Blessings to you. Karen.
Response: You're welcome. I found one more postcard swapping site, sendsomething.net (very bare bones type of site).
Comment: Hi, thank you for the lovely postcard! I'll definitely have to try the track out when I eventually travel to Canada! My doggies are very happy and well! I hope you have a lovely March and a wonderful weekend :)
Response: It made the long journey, yeah! :) I'm glad everyone is well. Thanks for the 5 heart.
Comment: beautiful card, I'm going to make a few like that myself. Like your selections, I will see if I can find them at the library
Response: Thanks for the 5 heart, Momskii. Since I sent that card I found one more book like the 3 I listed. It's a parody of the Griffin & Sabine books....Sheldon & Mrs. Levine. Funny postcards and letters between a tormented son and his mother. Funny, especially if you've read a G&S book.
Comment: Thank you for the lovely post card. After reading your note I had to look carefully at the picture before the woman revealed herself. Imagining Canada at 2 years old I wonder if it went through the “terrible 2’s stage that toddlers trod?😀
Response: Thank you. I'm so glad you liked the Voyageur postcard. She was an amazing artist. Canada is lucky to have her work. She stayed for a short time then went back to England. I imagine it was a tough lifestyle.
Response: There's a strong Scottish history in many parts of the country. The city I work in was founded by a Scot, and it has it's own official tartan (green and blue) registered with the Scottish Register of Tartans.
Thanks for the 5-heart. :)
Comment: I love tartan too! My family's Scottish, our clan tartan is Cameron :)
Response: I've been to Scotland once and loved it. I love bagpipes - I've been in pubs a couple of times where bagpipers showed up to play a song or two. A lot of the towns in my province were founded by Scots. There's one that holds a very popular Scottish Festival every year. Yeah tartan!
Comment: thanks for the timothy's coffee chunk! love it! love the stamp to and this was so pretty! thank you! I will be setting up the march cardboard swap tomorrow after I assign another swap. thank you for participating. have an awesome day Rome!
Comment: The addition of pictures was a great idea! Your first car looks like my second car, which was a pale blue Valiant Ranger, a real beast of a thing that I owned for four years! Got to laugh: my first car was a Mini, what was your second? Avery enjoyable swap, thankyou!
Response: 2nd car was a Mitsubishi Colt.Little compact hatchback car. On the highway the engine sounded like a sewing machine. It was zippy. Lasted a long time. If I remember correctly it was road-worthy for 10 years at a time when most cars were lucky to get to 6 years. Thanks for the feedback MeggyMoo, I'm glad you liked this eSwap.
Comment: Hello there Rome! Loved your creativity! Thought it was ingenious what you were inspired to do! Thank you so much! I loved it all and even the little arixkers all over! Thank you and hello to you in Canada. If i start an art themed group here on Swap Bot i hope you will join! We need this kind of creativity to overcome boredom so we can wake up adn be free! I like your creative ways! You’ve got my address anytime you want to write or make art with a letter please feel forward to connect with me! I love being cerative! NO being NUMBBED DOWN FOR ME! Hahahahahaha Enjoy! Bye for now!
Response: Oh my gosh, I'm blushing. I'm so glad that it I had passed through both postal services and reasonably fast too. Thanks for the kind words.
Comment: Thank you so much for a great swap and for sharing your creation!
Response: Good delivery time, only 6 days. It seems the postal service between Canada and the UK is faster than Canada and the US. I'm glad you liked my book page and snow rabbit. Thanks for the 5-heart rating.
Comment: Thanks so much for this really well made Zine, I loved your thoughts about next year and thanks for mentioning Geocaching which I'd never heard of, what an interesting and fun idea! Wishing you a wonderful 2019 and thanks again :)
