Comment: 1 WTC; gorgeous!! I can't wait for its completion. It's a beauty and I love seeing it as I walk downtown when I'm in Manhattan. I think it'll always have the Freedom Tower nickname, but that's ok by me! Having watched the old Twin Towers smoulder for weeks while driving to work every day, this is great to see. I miss living on the East Coast! Thanks for a fabulous postcard. This one's new to me!!! â¤ï¸
Comment: Hi Kris, Thanks for the great card. When I lived in Toronto a bunch of friends and I used to cross a bridge to go to Buffalo for pizza & meatball subs on Friday nights! Long time ago, so was definitely a different bridge. Thanks so much the card & great stamps!
Comment: Thanks for this wonderful calla lily PC! The stamps are beautiful too. I will be rooting for Wisconsin to win the Rose Bowl again, however. LOL I traveled north with all the snow birds, on my trip, in 2013. That really slowed things down. Hope you will be able to see more of Alaska on your next trip up here. Hugs from Alaska, Sherry
Comment: Thanks so much for this wonderful letter!!! We are in the same boat as far as organizing and down sizing after retirement:) I love the postcards that you included as well! Right into the collections they will go. Hope you have a wonderful visit with your sons and grandpuppy. We also have a grand puppy and grand kitty right now.
Maybe you can come to Alaska again! It has already changed so much since you were here before. Hugs from Alaska, Sherry
Comment: Thank you for the shrimp boil postcard. I have actually done my own shrimp boil for just me and my husband. So yummy! I wish Californians would start that type of party here!!! haha! :) Leanne (Virgoleanne)
Comment: Oh my goodness, I laughed out loud at that Minnesota one! 6 SPECIES OF LUTHERAN hooo boy growing up in Iowa I actually understood those Prairie Home Companion jokes. :D Love the cards and thank you so much for this oddball and wonderful swap!
Comment: I love the oversized postcard! It has a pineapple, amazing! The stamps also are so amazing!!! I also enjoyed the informative section of it, I learned quite a bit about nutmeg, I find vegetation fascinating. I also love the quotes, thanks for an amazing swap! ðŸ
Comment: Thank you for the perfect heart rock card! I love that quote from mark Twain and it's perfect for it suits me in many ways: marriage, trying new things, the "pirate" in me, and the Geocacher in me as well. Thank you again and have a wonderful day (have fun on your travels too!).
Comment: Great postcard!! Thanks! I love Adrian Tomine!! Bookends is a great store!! They always get good authors in to sign. Bob Saget is hysterical. Not enough people know that!!!! Awesome stamps too - thank you so so much!!!! xo
Comment: Thank you for the postcard of The Farmer Boy's Home. It looks just like the home I grew up in except it didn't have the front door, just the side door which made the home sideways on the street. Memories! Shirley
Comment: Hi Kris! Love the pc from Pikes Market! We visited there a couple of years ago and loved it! Such memories! Do you feel like we are already pc pen pals from all the swaps we have shared? LOL! Hugs and Happy Swapping! ;)
Comment: thank you so much for all these beautiful Michigan Lighthouses. I don't know what is going on with the mail. I have sent things people never got and vica versa. I got a letter from a lady I write to one time, all I received was the front of the envelope in one of the "sorry we damaged your mail" plastic bags. don't know how that happened, but the post office always says it was the machines. oh well, anyway, thanks for this great card take care. phyllis
Comment: Thanks for the postcard and nice note! I agree about PCs being difficult to find. When I lived in NOLA, I had no problem finding PCs.They were everywhere, but here in AL...I can find only the same ol' cards at one of the Walgreens stores. Grrrr....
Comment: Hello Kris & thank you for the recipe PC from Michigan for Cherry Pie! I love cherries, eat them every year in season, love cherry pie. My Mom prefers dried cranberries too, so I will help her make her favorite breads with cranberries. Then, later, I go to the store for her, sneak a small cherry pie from the store's bakery. Enjoy a small treat like that in the car with coffee then back to my Mom. We share the coffee, she has her slice of cranberry bread. So does the family dogs, don't tell, OK? Happy spring to you & your family.
Comment: Yowza! As if the postal-themed PC wasn't cool enough, you put all these amazing postal service stamps on it! The Cooke quote is very fitting. :) Now I'm going to go and add that book to my Amazon list. Thank you, Kris!
Comment: Thanks for the great card and fitting stamp! You have so much interesting history up your way (*and* craft beers). We got about 5-6 inches of snow last night/this morning, which is enough for people around here!
Comment: Hi Kris! Thank you so much for the pretty postcard of High Falls! I loved reading your message on the back--- I think it's awesome that you've visited Hawaii many times & even more awesome that Kauai is your favorite!!! I love Hamura's as well, such yummy saimin!!!
Comment: WOW! Thanks so much for ALL of the fantastic cards you sent! I especially love the Buffalo Wings recipe and the cool carousel! And the Punxsutawney Phil card came just in time. He saw his shadow yesterday... six more weeks of winter! Boo! LOL! Have a great week! :)
Comment: Great PCs! Of course the Oklahoma with the boot cut-out goes right into my collection :-) I love the covered bridge ones. . . and the Albuquerque ballooning one brings back memories for me when I was at one of the balloon festivals there many years ago. Thanks again for the great PCs and happy swapping ~~
Comment: Thank you very much for the interesting PC! LOL yes, the image is perfect for the swap, and makes me a bit dizzy with all the splashes of colors! Thank you for the great quote as well, I LOVE paintings by O'Keeffe too.
Comment: Thankyou very much for the interesting message on the postcard, you read my profile well, I do live near the seaside so I am always delighted to see Lighthouses from around the World. I like the L'house pc (what a wonderful view!) and matching stamp very much, thanks :)
Comment: Hi Kris! Thanks for the cool New Glarus Brewing Co postcard! It's funny you mentioned Big Tide Brewery, I go there often for trivia night and I also lived a block up the hill before I bought this house, and my fiancÄ— is head chef at Brits pub across from Big Tide, did you eat there while you visited?
Comment: Thank you for the beautiful postcard of New York. It looks like fun to be ice skating at Rockefeller Center. It is a shame most people don't live like it's Christmas all year through. Great quote by Bob Hope.
Comment: Sorry for the late rating but thanks for checking. I swear I rated you when I got his - but maybe it was from my phone where the ratings do not always seem to stick! I know I had rated b/c I had even archived this one. Technology is not alwyas our friend!
Comment: First I want to say thank you for being part of the 1st swap I hosted, it has been a big success. Second, I loved your NY Map card, and think the Bill Murray Quote makes it perfect for my collection.
Comment: Thank you for the postcard and I love the quote. It is so true. My husband grew up on Long Island, he has family out in Cortland, my daughter goes to school in Manhattan and lives in Brooklyn. In all my travels I have met very nice people.
Comment: Thanks! I love the cards. I also like the stamps on your envelope. I see so many nice stamps on the things I get from Swap-Bot that in a way I wish I collected stamps. I love your little business card. It is so cute!
Comment: Thank you for the postcard of the Peace Bridge. It seems strange to me that you have to travel through another country to visit your family. In Australia, of course, it is the one country but sometimes we need to travel across state borders in a similar way.
Comment: Hi! Love your pc, but it got my hubby riled up, as our son was in WA for three months, when he traveled through he brought some of this beer to his GF's Dad but not his own Dad! LOL! I am sad that I should have tried this when I was in WA and did not - sigh! Hope yours gets you through next spring! LOL! Hugs and Happy Swapping! ;)
Comment: LOVE all the postcards! The paw cut out detail on the bear is adorable, I totally leave out water for the neighborhood raccoons (not food... neeever food :P), the horse and TP was hilarious but ..... the hugs and kisses buffalo is the best. Hubby's zodiac sign is Taurus and also the Ox in the Chinese horoscope so he's a double moo cow and three times as stubborn sometimes *eye roll* THAT card? It's going under his pillow tonight :P So hehee, thank you =)!
Comment: Hi! Love the pc! My hubby will enjoy seeing this one as well! Good for you on finding some beers you have enjoyed! I am never very sure about trying flavored ones, but I might have to give them a whirl! Hugs and Happy Swapping! ;)
Comment: Thanks for the Loose Cannon beer box card! I really like the "postcard" ink stamp as well. I'll also have to give Elysian's Super Fuzz Blood Orange Pale Ale a try, maybe on a road trip to your area next month.
Comment: Thank you for the awesome postcard. I would love to see Hearst Castle. It looks amazing. I live near the Biltmore Estate. If you are ever in NC, it's a must see. It is especially beautiful at Christmas. Thanks again. Have a great day!
Comment: Hiya (((Kris))): Wow, how cool is it that we were partners for this swap. I just love the postcard you sent. You pick out such great, interesting postcards to send, & I appreciate your taking a moment to look at my profile and send me a card you know I will love. Thank you, swap friend & penpal! Oh, by the way, as soon as I saw your message on the card, I immediately recognized your lovely, neat, perfect handwriting. Thanks Kris. Oh, thanks for your great letter. I am going to try and at least start your letter this evening. Sadly, I have a bit more spare time now, as I twisted my right knee on Weds, and have torn ligaments...OUCH!! The doctor told me I would have been better off fracturing a bone, or even dislocating it because bones heal quicker and better. I think I need to live in a bubble. HA HA! You will hear from me soon, like it or not! Take care and Happy Swapping and enjoy the weekend. it's going to be COLD here tonight, down to 34 degrees, but luckily will start warming up again tomorrow. How about you? Carol ♥
Comment: I really prefer the postcards sent in an envelope, thank you so much. There must be lots of Texas Chili cards, I used that one as well but the card was very different. I love the
pasty card! Thanks!
Comment: Beach combing for shells was a favorite thing to do when we visited Sanibel Island and I actually collected quite a few of the ones pictured on your postcard. None quite so perfect as those shown! Thank you!
Comment: Hi Kris, Thanks for this excellent PC. I am planning to go and see my son, by brother and my niece, all in New York, next year, so maybe will be able to visit this area. Hugs from Alaska, Sherry

Comment: I love this old skool Michigan postcard! The weather here in Michigan has been AWESOME this month...and normally August is the most miserably hot and humid. I'm totally OK with it! And wait...so you DON'T like camping? I was just making sure I got that right ;) HAHA Have a great rest of your summer!
Comment: Hey there Kris: Oooooh, what a lovely postcard. Years & years ago, my family took a vacation to High Falls, well really Rochester, but we saw the falls. This postcard brought back memories & you did a great job of selecting this postcard for me...good job & many thanks for sending it, and for the informative note written on the back. Hope you are enjoying nice weather and that you & yours are in good health. Take care, Kris. Happy Swapping! Carol :)
Comment: Loved the PC you sent. . . I, too, have always liked Elvis, especially his later work and could listen to him anytime. I can certainly see why this PC would bring back memories for you ;-) Thanks again for the great PC ~~
Comment: Yes Kris you did awesome!!! I LOVE the postcard, and you are right in my favs....anything teapot -ish is perfect! Yes very nice architecture and very creative! The stamps you sent are pretty cool too! Hugs, Dawn
Comment: Thank you for the gorgeous postcard! The quote was very nice, too. I wish it really was June all year around :P We have such a looooong and dark winter (September-April, and daylight during the ''darkest'' period (November-February) is only from about 9:30AM-2:30PM). Have a great day!
Comment: What a descriptive beer review :) I am not a hops/ IPA fan, but my husband prefers both hoppy beers and IPAs. Wealso like to check out the local breweries when we travel ... in fact, sometimes we plan brewery visits into our route. How cool to have a mailer's postmark permit, too ... I want to figure out how to get one!
Comment: Holy mackerel, I had no idea Rochester looked so cool, most of all due to this awesome waterfall right in downtown! Craziness! Thanks so much for the lovely postcard and info! Now I want to go :-)
Comment: Thanks for the great postcard of High Falls, and the info about the Genesee River. :oP I was also impressed with your MPP - and it's a No. 1, to boot! Seeing it brought back my desire to have one, perhaps I'll get one this time around. ;o)
Comment: As an Army vet, getting a postcard of West Point is pretty cool - thanks! :o) I would have liked to visit there when I lived closer to NY, but my trips through were always in the middle of the night.
I also appreciate the nice older stamp, even though the poor thing was torn from the cancelling machine. Sandy
Comment: Thanks for this great addition to my "crappy" collection. LOL We used one all the time when we went camping, and after we were married transported one off our property to a friend's house(40 miles away!!!) until he could get running water in. Hugs from Alaska, Sherry
Comment: Thanks very much - I love the varied selection (and extra!), and think it's very cool that you've been to Denver for Gr8 Amer. Beer Fest! It's a big deal-sells out in something like 20 minutes every year now. I would love to come to the Lilac Festival-they and daffodils are my favorite spring flowers. After all the snow we had here yesterday, spring is starting to sound pretty good! thanks again - take care, Carol in Denver
Comment: Kris, thank you for the great postcard. I love your handwriting, and you obviously picked a perfect stamp. It's like the postcard and the stamp are over the same picture! Thank you again. Have a great day.
Comment: Hi Kris! I love your postcard with the little chick, Easter eggs and verse on the back! Cute! It's funny you said "March has arrived...we made it through Winter!" I'm in the Chicago area and we have Winter Storm Saturn bearing down on us right now! LOL! 12" predicted in my area. ;) Hopefully Spring will be here soon though. Cheers and Happy Easter (PS: Go Spartans!)
Comment: Wow! That was a beautiful envelope. The stamps were so amazing and the stamps all over we're the best! Thanks for all the good stuff inside! Where did you get so many cool ir mail and snail mail stamps? Thank you! And I didn't mind one bit that you were not international. :)
Comment: Thank you so much! I couldn't believe that the picture was in the States - it looks so European. Well, it is LA, I guess :D I would LOOVE to visit New Orleans someday, but I'm like you - I thought the amount of people would scare me off. Maybe some day in the future! Have a great day!
Comment: Thanks. It looks like a place I would love to see. I've visited your Rochester General Hospital (in 1995) when I had a stent put in. I was there for the Ryder Cup! At that time, my daughter lived and worked there. Needless to say, I didn't do any sightseeing. I spent 10 days in the hospital. Couldn't wait to get home. Hugs, Joy
Comment: Thank you for the Florida postcard. :) My bestfriend lives in the Finger Lakes and she just came to visit last week. She said it's been a crappy winter out there :( Michigan hasn't been much better...
Comment: Thank you for the artsy postcard you sent me. New York is my ultimate dream place - receiving and reading your card put a smile on my face. I wish someday I can spend at least one holiday in NYC too, I bet it'll be grand :)
Comment: Thank you for the lovely winter postcard, I love the pretty flower stamp on the back. Your cursive is much nicer than my own, I'm forced to print most of my correspondence to make sure people can read it.

Comment: I was going through my Christmas cards, cutting them up to put them away, and found your recipe postcard - the old-timey biscuits one. Love it! Thanks so much....and sorry I'm so late with my rating.
Comment: Hi Kris, thanks very much for the "Everyone Loves Fire" postcard! It's great! But, I have to tell you that I can no longer see people ready to blow out candles on a cake without thinking about the study I read about on what was found on such cakes. Scary, in a germaphobic kind of way. But, just pretend I didn't tell you about it, okay? :-D
Happy 2013, Cynthia
Comment: I got home from my trip today and got your postcard! Thank you sooo much for the pretty Suzy's Zoo one — I really like that artist but they're so hard to find! And stamps were also very pretty. Happy New Year!!~

Again, thank you very much!
Comment: Oh My...where do I begin. The card was awesome (I love shiny stuff LOL), But the extras you included were so special to me. Thank you so very much for your super kind words about the swaps in The Paper Dragon Group also. I am somewhat speechless at the stamps you included, the thoughtfulness was so appreciated. . .I hope you realize what a great swap this was for me. If I could give more than 1 ♥ I would. So ♥♥♥
Comment: Hi! Thanks so much for the lovely pc and for sharing about your evening! So Happy the MSU Spartans won for you! LOL! Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends! Hugs and Happy Swapping! ;)
Comment: Hi Kris -- lovely stamps along with the Buffalo Hot Wings recipe pc! My British friend asked if we used buffalo meat and she was unsure if they had wings! I told her it was a recipe and originally created in Buffalo NY. ~ glad to know you're faring well after "Sandy"! Stay safe...
Comment: Hello Kris, thanks so much for the wonderful postcard. You have very nice handwriting too! That really sounds nice you and your husband enjoying the games. Have a wonderful night!!! Hugs, Dawn Gallop stampmom9
Comment: Oh yeah Spam! I too hate the stuff. My mother use to make us sandwiches out of ground spam mixed with sweet pickle relish. She must have gotten the recipe out of some womans magazine. :D My husband likes it but he has to buy it for himself !
Comment: Hi! TY so much for the lovely Thanksgiving pc and for sharing your Thanksgiving thoughts! Yes, we take so much for granted in the wonderful country that we live in! I also hope that the Congress can get their act together, stop fighting like kids and help repair some of the true issues in our country! I am not very political, but I do understand things have to change and pray the changes will be for the best in the end! Hugs, Happy Thanksgiving, and Happy Swapping! ;)
Comment: New York! I love New York. I've been there once and can't wait to go back. Can you believe I got only two postcards while I was there and they were of the Statue of Liberty. It was after I went to New York that I started collecting postcards. Thanks for the card!
Comment: Thank you so much. This was a lovely envelope, I love the postcards!
Response: Yippee! I'm so glad that this one made it. Tried to fill it with the same "stuff" as the first, but I'm pretty sure there were differences (just in case the 1st one ever shows up). Oh, thanks for the heart, too!
Comment: WOW! I can't even begin to describe how much I love my paper doll that you made for me. SHe is stunning. I also love the various outfits and hats you made for her. She will be cherished for always. Thank you so very very very much. She is incredible and you are extremely talented.
Comment: Thanks for the PC! I am glad to have received a NY state flag postcard. Last week, I was at a conference in St. Catharine's and drove by Rochester - we went to Niagara Falls - it was my first trip there!

Comment: Another utterly fantastic postcard from you - thanks so much! Heart heart heart! The mailbox postcard is wonderful, I love your story (fun to see where your mail goes!), and the stamps are fabulous.
Comment: Wooow Kris! I total agree with you :) mustaches were tough to find but I really enjoyed looking for them, what a funny swap!!! XD I found mine at a second hand books store, the postcard were about 100 years old!!!!!! (From 1919 to 1923) your postcard is GREAT!!! My boyfriend made a color photocopy! Hahahhaha thank you so-o much!
Comment: Thank you for the neat fashion PC. I remember when my grandmother and aunt would dress up with hats and gloves to go downtown to shop. It is interesting how times change. Thank you for the memories!
Comment: Great card and WOW such amazing stamps!!!!!! I'm grateful to you for those years you spend teaching students to re-pupose!! And yes, the movement has come a long way! But I fear still has a long way to go, as apathy still runs rampant, much to my surprise. Thanks for a great card. You have wonderful handwriting!
Comment: Hi Kris--your Fuji employee's loss of the card you sent is my gain! :) I love it. I love photo collage, so think it is actually really cool (I'm not sure I would have given it up ;) ). Thanks so much.
Comment: Thanks for the Earth Day postcard. When I worked in India, they were working on schemes to reuse plastic grocery bags, like crocheting them into more reusable bags. Wearing clothes longer is the push now. I love the stamps.
Comment: Hi Kris, Hope you are doing well. Thank you for a great selection of cards..I.too, have not been on WT for quite awhile. I got tired of seeing the same people to be tagged, with all the new people that have joined. So, every now and then, I check to see what's happening there!!! I knew that I had missed seeing you!! Even my daughter had quit!!
Comment: Hi! I love all the awesome pcs and hearing from you each day! Sigh, I will miss you! I agree on the books, I want to touch them when reading, so no Kindle for me at this point! LOL! I have not read the Hunger Games at this time, but might have to as I have heard from several folks that the book is wonderful, although sad as well! Hope we are partners again at some point and that I could give more than one heart! Hugs, Happy Reading and Swapping! ;)
Comment: Sigh. It's been forever since I've visited my alma mater and they don't sell postcards online! Thanks for your loyalty, between your username and your postcard :-D
Response: We've been lucky... family near by means that visits back can include a quick trip up to the old alma mater... plus, I'm sure the visits helped sway our sons in that direction, too! Does always feel like we're back home whenever we step on campus, too! We bleed green! LOL!
Comment: Ha, I didn't quite understand your username until I got the card and I feel like saying "Duh, LIsa!" Hahaha. I have a great friend in Lansing who's also a big Michigan State fan - none of our local teams will be in March Madness, so maybe I'll root for them - I know I enjoy their hockey team!! Thanks!! Lisa
Comment: Thanks very much, Kris for the absolutely perfect postcard. It definitely put me in the spirit of St. Patrick's Day. I LOVE the card! Your quote was great as well. Thank you!! Happy St. Patrick's Day & Happy Swapping! :) Carol
Comment: Hello again Kris. Thanks so much for the New York map postcard. It is from the same company that does a Maryland one, so I had to do a double take at first because the colors are so similar to the MD one. I like this E.B. White quote you included too. Hope you're having a good weekend. ;)
Comment: Hello Kris,
Thank you for sharing some of your favorite quotes with me. I enjoyed reading both, but really liked the message of the quote by John Burrough. By the way, you have beautiful handwriting.
Comment: A gorgeous hat and a fitting quote! When I travel I try to buy a packable hat to replace one I've left somewhere along the way. I had fun with this swap - turns out vintage postcards have lots of hats.
Comment: Thanks so much for the postcard, I love it!!! :) I've been to Rochester a few times, including two weeks a couple years ago for training at work... The first place I go whenever I'm in that area is Dinosaur BBQ...the second place I go is anywhere that sells buffalo wings! :)
Comment: Oops! You wonderful envies got set on the table in the music room and forgotten for a few days, so sorry to rate late. I'm making up for it, though, on this end at least--I like them so much that I've been using them like crazy!
Comment: As usual Kris a delightful card and great stamps, thanks a bunch. The weather up here is exceptionally mild too, and I have to admit I am perfectly fine not having a month of -30C outside. I like walking and in this weather it is almost pleasurable ...
Comment: Thank you for the lovely card and all the quotes + even Valentine´s related stamps :)! The card is just the style I like, vintage-looking and I love quotes! Hugs and Happy Valentine´s Day to you too!
Comment: Thank you for the wonderful postcard of snowy Rochester, NY! My first of Rochester! I agree, we too have had such a mild winter here in Chicago! I am originally from the UP of Michigan and I can relate to having snow in May before, but this year is just uncharacteristically mild in every way! Even for Chicago. We have had 50 degree days this week with rain last week and we have absolutely no snow. It has only snowed three times and we had a green Christmas. Well, enjoy it while you can! Have a great weekend and thank you for the postcard, Kris! :)
Response: As much as I dread the snow here in WNY, can't imagine what you'd get in the UP! Dear friends of ours from Escanaba, now have a winter place in Chicago! Bet they are lovin' this year's Chicago winter.
Comment: Thank you for the nice quote and the funny looking postcard! I agree, it does look kind of vintage, and yeah, it kind of gives me the creeps. But then again, any inanimate object with a mustache gives me the creeps! :) Thanks for joining and happy swapping!
Comment: Thank you for this great card! When you and your husband are so interested in brewing and beer, you should travel to Belgium and Germany! There are tons of breweries around here and they make great beer. :-) And I think there is nothing wrong with an obsession like this, I guess sometimes it makes it even easier to pick where you want to travel, when you have an interest like this. Have a wonderful day!
Comment: Kris - these are wonderful! I especially love the small envelope with the airplane on the back!!! The printed ones are so cool!! I never knew they existed - thanks for the websites! You are the best! What a great swap - really made my day! : )
Comment: LOVE the quote and the card--SUPER thoughtful! Thank you also for letting me know about The Prisoner of Heaven. I was thinking of getting a copy of The Angel's Game from my library, now I will have to! Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness!
Comment: Thank you so much for such a beautiful New Year's postcard !!! I really liked it so much !!! I liked the stamps too. You're a dragon ? Im a tiger ! As it is your year this year, I hope you re having a great year in 2012 !!!
Comment: Kris...thank you for the card and note sharing your adventure to the Mardi Gras...if you don't mind I'll tag along on your trip to HI (lol)...Hope it happens for you!!! I have been on a Carribean cruise...have a year full of adventures...Charlene
Comment: Thank you for not one but two fabulous New Year's postcards! I love them both. The pug puppies are too cute, and the vintage train image is great. I hope your celebrations are fun and that you get a chance to relax, too.
Comment: Good to know! I bought a turkey on sale after Thanksgiving. I may try a bag. In fact, I'm pretty sure I have some lost in my bottom cupboard. Note to self: go on a bag-finding expedition in the scaree back of my cupboard...
Comment: Thanks for the bookcover PC. Honestly I never read Nancy Drew mystery books , I think we didn't have them translated when I was a kid but I've seen them in the bookstore and library later-on and my eldest daugthers liked them!
Comment: Thak you this is so interesting. I used to live in Upstate NY when I was a young kid. I lived on a game preserve with lots of farm land around. I always get a kick when someone says New York everyone always thinks of the city. My dad use to go to the VA hospital in Albany.
Comment: hello & thanks for the totally perfect card ...
i am sure glad you have a great family
& are part of the community here to
insure your mailbox will be filled with
lots of fun stuff!
do please enjoy the weekend
& best wishes for the upcoming holidays!
Comment: Thanks for the postcard. It will be one of my treasured cards. I remember Sep 11, 2001 well. I had just got home from work (after midnight in Australia) and my husband was watching CNN. As I walked into the room there was live footage of a plane flying into the second tower. We didn't get very much sleep that night, or the folllowing days as we listened to the story unfold.
Comment: HI Kris, It was a pleasure getting to know you over the week and be mentally visiting you in Rochester. Thanks for all the great cards and cross our finger so that our winter will be a gentle one:)
Comment: Fascinating postcard! Thanks so much. I love that quote by Edison when he was trying to figure out how to make a light bulb, "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." :)
Comment: Gorgeous flag card with great sentiments! Never heard of Syracuse Cultural Workers (a union?). Going to google it now! I love the values they proport on this flag. Thanks for a beautiful and interesting card!!!! UPDATE: I figured out what SCW is - awesome! Gettin me some stuff! THANK YOU!!!
Comment: Thanks for the beautiful card. I also do not like winter, which is why I live in Southern California... I would like to visit New York in the fall one day - as we do not have much change in the seasons here.
Comment: Great card. I'm sorry the kids don't visit on Halloween much any more. We have the opposite here. We're a first ring suburb with street lights and sidewalks. Folks bring kids to our neighborhood in droves. We typically get 400 kids at the door. Thank heavens for COSTCO bulk candy packs! Our neighborhood gets into the spirit and we have lots of decorations and adults make the rounds for sweets and ahem 'beverages' too. All in all pretty fun. Best night ever was the Halloween blizzard of '91. Biggest snowball fight EVER, all in costume, parents vs power rangers and ghosts. Cheers
Response: Boy, does that bring back memories! That's how we "used" to be...now all the kids have grown & left the nest which means fewer & fewer kids/parents every year. Don't even have to hit the "big box" stores any more :-( I do miss the festive atmosphere...houses with sound effects, creepy noises & our contribution--Halloween music (Ghostbusters was my favorite)! ENJOY
Comment: I love going to museums, although I haven't been to one in quite some time. What an enjoyable field trip though. :) I remember when we did that in the 5th grade. Things like that will always be remembered.
Comment: Hummm...what am I looking forward to? Well, right now I'm waiting on my sweet hubby to get home so we can go out and celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary today!! :^) I'm also looking forward to Christmas when our whole family can be together!
Comment: I love them all! Totally my style, so I'm glad you got my name! Thanks.
Thanks for the follow-up folded sheet! I had seen one a few years ago... but had forgotten about it. Thanks! I will be using it!
Comment: Thank you so much for the postcards. They were great. The couple kissing was
really funny. You know the postcard with the waterfall is it in the city because if it is I think I have seen it on T.V. I think CSI:New York and ever since then I've been wanting to see it again. So again THANK YOU so much you really made my day. Take Care.
Comment: Thank you for the postcard! And the very touching quote. It is true, a piece of mail can be, if not a life-saver, at least a day-saver. It's why I love Swap-bot so much. Not just for me but for giving a lift to other swappers. Thank you.
Comment: Your card made me so hungry! I've never heard of the chain. If you're ever in Richmond, we have Red Robins, Fuddruckers & 5 Guys for burgers. If you want healthier American food, though, look up Silver Spoon diner around here- they're a diner with vegan options, organic options & all their produce is local.
Comment: Now I'm really glad I joined this swap. I love this card - the umbrella is so brightly colored and really stands out from the background. I love that there are no people in the shot too - it's just me and my rainbow umbrella. :) Thank you!
Comment: Thank you so much for your very interesting PC about your Sept 11. There was just no protocol for how to break it to the kids or not, was there? And, while the parents arriving to pick their kids up seemed extremely dramatic - well, not dramatic but pointless - I suppose I can understand how alienating the sense of fear they had must have felt. Thanks again.
Comment: I'm from upstate NY..lived in the Watertown/lake Ontario area...I have been to the Genesee River but never saw your wonderful lighthouse...I paint( oil& watercolor) lighthouses and this would be a wonderful one to paint...THank you...kathiec
Comment: Thanks. I was actually IN 5th grade when it happened. Our teachers instead wanted us to know about what was happening so we quit what we were doing that morning and spent some time with the other two 5th grade classes watching the news coverage. Yes, a very difficult talk.
Comment: Thanks so much for the great postcard of the Charlotte/Genesee Lighthouse! I used to live in the Rochester area, but never had any idea that there was a lighthouse OR that the Genesee River flows north ... I guess I didn't get out of the house as much as I thought I did?!? :)
Comment: Those apples do look good! I love apples too, however, I have to be careful which ones I eat. I'm allergic to some of the pesticides they put on the apples. I can't eat the ones with those pesticides on it unless the skin is removed. Even if I wash them! I used to live in MA and they have a lot of kinds of apples there. Soo good!!
Comment: Kris thanks for sharing your story with me. When 9-11 happened I was in 11th grade, now its 10 years later and my bestfriend Molly and I will be in NYC that weekend for a concert and to site see,
Comment: Hi! I have really enjoyed hearing from you and about you/your area over the last week! I am sad the swap is over! I got the last three pcs today! You have a lovely variety of cards - thanks so very much and I hope we are swap partners again at some point! Hugs and Happy Swapping! ;)
Response: Glad that you enjoyed receiving them... this was FUN! Looking forward to future exchanges.
Comment: Hi Kris & thanks so much for the great Montgomery bus postcard. I love getting museum PCs with all the background/history written on them, though it does leave less space for writing. I bet the Henry Ford Museum is filled with fascinating vehicles. I didn't think I'd be so into transportation museums, but loved the one in London when I went a few years ago. Take care ;)
Comment: I read all the Nancy Drew books and wanted to read the Hardy Boys books but they were "boys" books so not for me. By high school I read Gone With the Wind, Hawaii and lots more, just can't recall the titles. By the time I was in high school I worked in the children's room of the public library and I read all the Newberry and Caldecautt books. I especially remember A Wrinkle in Time and Island of the Blue Dolphins.
Response: If you were a fan of A Wrinkle in Time, you should check out When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead. It won the Newbery Award in 2010 and even as an adult, I couldn't put it down... I've recommended it to others, and they have loved it, too!
Comment: Ha, I saw this card up in Bemidji a couple of weeks ago. It reminded me of camping in the BWCA as a kid and the g-boxes or government-boxes they put at campsites. Basically this set-up with four sides so you can't see the hole. Too funny. Cheers
Comment: Do they have a Ford museum? Thanks for the PC :)
Response: Yes, the Henry Ford Museum really does exist! It isn't filled with stuff about the Fords, though. It has all sorts of things significant to American history. Reminds me of the Smithsonian Museum of Am. History! I have been through Edsel Ford's mansion on a tour, too. That is primarily about the Ford family.
Comment: Hello Kris- Thank you for the really nice postcard from Rochester, NY. I have never been in your part of the state, but I know from seeing photos that it is really beautiful. I hope you are having a nice summer, too. Best wishes, Debbie
Comment: I grew up with a print of that same Van Gogh painting in my house and always thought the flowers looked like puppies noses (?). I like that you thought they were more like melted crayons! Loved it, thank you!
Comment: Hi Kris! Wow, love the New York Map Postcard and the Eastern Bluebird! The bluebird is so beautiful, I love to stamp birds on different projects and Bluebirds & our Red Cardinals are my favorites! I bet you get a lot of snow living so close to Lake Ontario ! Take care & Thanks again, Judy
Comment: This postcard made me just drool for oyster crackers. I just started getting healthy again, so there is absolutely NO WAY I could have these in the house. The whole box would be gone in a matter of hours, ha ha.
Best wishes and happy swapping!
Comment: Thanks for reading my profile! Its always nice when a partner puts actual effort in a swap! Side note, when I was in high school I had this poster hanging on my wall... I remember getting it at the smithsonian in dc! What a great PC!
Comment: Excellent PC! My best friend since 7th grade is named Kris B. ! Points for the Robot and I love Rochester! Margaret Strongs Museum is my fave! I was there in the 90's and I'd love to come back! = ) Oh, and great doodles!
Comment: My first Elvis PC. . .I LOVE it!!! Indeed, Elvis is one of my favorites and not because I enjoy country music but rather I was a young girl when he became popular in the early 60s ~ I remember watching him on the Ed Sullivan show when they wouldn't s how him from the waist down!!! I still enjoy his music today especially his ballads and gospel because he had such a powerful voice for those types of songs. Thanks again and he's going up on my PC wall in my studio : )
Comment: I recieved a wonderful package from Kris. She came up with a bunch of cool ideas for prompts. She also included alot of extra ephemera and a couple of nice pens. I am looking forward to starting a new journal and using her little gems. Thank you!
Response: So glad you enjoyed my package of "goodies".
Comment: Thanks for the awesome PC! Glad you enjoyed my city! Mardi Gras is nice in March, but typically February's perfect--it's cool but not cold. Sometimes March can be hot here! I love the French Quarter best on Sunday mornings! Hope you can visit again soon!
Comment: If only I could give you 55 million stars! Christmas in July! What a beautiful package of goodies with such a lovely letter! I feel we've actually met! I can't believe this is your first art journal swap! You have given this so much thought and care and I am inspired to get my journal out this minute!! I just LOVE the odd shaped envelope that holds all these little bits of thought provocation! It's going to look so nice in my journal. You feel like a dear old friend and writing in my journal will be like girlfriends chatting over tea. I love your technique for leaving a tab to add pockets and other bits. I'll be doing that too. It's been so lovely to meet you, and thank you for each unique piece that will now add texture and richness to my journal!
Response: WOW, it really got there FAST! (It was mailed on Saturday.) I am SO glad that you liked it! I'm really happy that I made up an extra one for myself, because compiling it made me want to play, too! This was such fun to create... so nice that you enjoyed what you received. Thanks for the heart and your kind comments!
Comment: Very cool card. I actually have a couple of heart shaped stones. A Go Card is a brand of advertising/free pcs that has the greatest graphics. They advertise companies, etc. I used to think they were only in Europe, but the USA has them too. I've never been able to find them here.
Comment: I've given up trying to have a green thumb, too. I've managed to have the same 7 plants in my house now for a couple of years without killing them, but outside...forget it! Thanksfor the card. Beautiful gardens.
Comment: Thank you for the postcard. 30 years of teaching - Congratulations! I do remember how it felt to have summer come. Wonder it the students realize that teachers look forward to summer more than they do?
Comment: I actually got this card over a week ago, but I was in PA visiting my daughter and grandkids. I'm home now. Big sigh. I miss 'em! Thanks for the quote and the great "Honoring the Teachers of America" card. I'm going to frame and hand a border of my favorites in my classroom...this will be one of them!
Response: Glad you liked it... I still gravitate to anything to do with teaching, even in retirement! Once a teacher, right?
Comment: Thanks so much for the postcard. That place is nifty. I didnt even know it was there, and now I have this want to roadtrip there! So awesome. Thanks for the pc ... and I love the fact that it had to do with something i love. :D
Comment: I was actually born and raised in MI! Way down in Berrien county, about 30 miles from Lake Michigan and 45 miles from the IN border. But traveled most of the state. Haven't seen this card before, though. :) Thanks for sharing. :)
Comment: very nice choices for PC's TYVM. Next year I sure would love to go to Rocheste, NY to the Lilac Festival in Highland Park. All look like fun. The only place I have been is Niagra Falls. We will have to go to New York and see the sites for sure.Again Thanks
Comment: I LOVE the hilarious postcard you sent. Bet there's a postcard with a guy cleaning a toilet and doing dishes too. Maybe with a little pink frilly apron on. LOL Thank you so much for thinking of my kitty kids and checking out my profile. Loved your message too. You're the best! Hugs, Sandy
Comment: Thank you Kris for the Blue bird card...I have to admit I have been noticing birds lately...NH state bird is the Purple Finch which is very nice but the blue birds are right up there in my favorite catagory!
Comment: Big thanks for your coin-card. That is exactly what I favor. I also collected some of the quarter coins. I wonder how much the whole set of 50 state coins cost in US (I mean at what price they are sold now). Peace!
Comment: I drove across the top of Michigan along the lake a few years back....but I've never been to Mackinac (I know how to pronounce it, though) and sure hope to someday....Thanks so much for the card!
Comment: This postcard is awesome!! Thank you so much. It brings back lovely memories of when my daughter visited us in Canada we went to a Polar Bear enclosure in a Wildlife sanctuary - and it was difficult to tear ourselves away from these beautiful creatures. Hugz inthewild
Comment: Thank you for the bunny card. I think you would like the bunny suicides. Check them out on Google Images. What a crack up! Middle school teacher...you're my hero. All the best. Julie
Response: Thanks for suggesting the bunny suicides...my kind of humor, as you can see by my bunny card! It is that kind of humor that got me through my days of teaching middle school... actually, each day brought a new and different kind of humor! Could always count on that! Kris
Comment: 1 person - 1 country
loved the card, and the info, i've always wanted to visit washington, i mean i live in the same province as canada's capitol city (ottawa) and have been there once before, but it does indeed look like there is soo much to view in DC, i wish i could say out taxi's were affordable, lol. thanks again for the swap :D
Comment: To me a waste of time is waiting. Any type of waiting that I can't be doing something else. Doctor's office, Grocery, Traffic Light, etc. that's why I bring my phone with me so I can do something! Thanks for the pc and for the question, made me think :)
Response: I'm a knitter & avid book reader for the same reason... Always have knitting & an extra book in the car so I have something to keep me busy while waiting depending on my mood!
Comment: Thank you! I love lilac's! I bet this is a great Festival!
Response: Glad that you liked the card. When our sons were little they would say that the festival smelled like our powder room (I used lilac soap in there exclusively!) If you like the fragrance of lilacs, you'd LOVE this festival.
Response: Thanks for my first rating & the heart! It really made me feel welcomed, after getting BANNED from the 1st two swaps I tried to join that "claimed" to accept "newbies" but ... Swap-bot just might be FUN, after all!
