This one is going to go on one of my granddaughter’s Christmas presents as I’m going to be wrapping them soon. Have a Merry Christmas.

Response: resent two days ago, start looking for it in about three days! hopefully your postal workers can fit this one inside your mailbox and you wont have to deal with the post office! fingers crossed!
Comment: Great zine - I love the artwork! I'll have to see what kind of beach sand I have around the house. Although I've been to beaches in Maryland, Florida, and California, too, it would either be sand from Sunset Beach in North Carolina or sand from the shores of Lake Erie - I'll see what I can find because I know I saved some from those two. What a great thing - mermaids! And art teacher fits you! Thanks for sending!
Comment: You are the queen of postage stamp embellishment! First I thought, "Where did she get those stamps! I want them!" Then I realized that you're an artistic genius :-) Also, thank you for so much sparkle!
Response: took my awhile to remember that i put santa hats on the animals! lol was worried that if i defaced them, the letter would come back! i guess not! lol
Comment: I received the package today! I'm so excited! I'm going to try to wait until my bday to open it, but that's on the 26th. I don't think I can wait that long!! :) Thank you so much!! <3<3<3 I just read your profile. I'm going to Houston, for the first time, in the next couple of weeks. I can't wait to see all of the museums!
Comment: Hi Sam!
What a lovely surprise to come home to your profile jar yesterday!! Thank you so much for such a lovely jar ☺. You have to tell me, did you draw the beautiful cockatiel on the top? She looks just like my Kohii ðŸ˜. I showed it to her, and she was very interested in it! She really looked it over good !! So many fun little items inside... I think my favorite has to be the adorable little red glass hedgehog! Thank you for all the little fun items!
You didn't put info on tag! 😮
Thank you again!
Response: yes, I painted the top. you can use it for cockatiel treats! I wrote in the letter that you can reuse the tag which is why I did not write on it. I see from your message that you did get the post cards. yes I painted those as well! thanks!
Comment: I haven't opened the envie, but I can tell already that it's special and I'll love it! Ha! I'll update, though, when my bday does roll around and I open it! Thanks! Happy birthday to you too! Opened: Love the birthday card and the postcards inside! I can't believe you made a zine about mermaids! Cool beans! Thanks so much
Comment: Hi Sam. Thanks for a fantastic masterboard! I like the colors and textures and the hints of goldleaf and sparkle, especially as I haven't used the metallic sparkliness much, so this adds something special to my collection to incorporate into my ATCs/pocket letters. I enjoyed reading your lesson instructions for your altered book semester project. It seems like a fun challenge I might like to try over the winter. I was thinking of choosing a partially illustrated book for its appearance and theme and building my posts around that. Perhaps a book focusing on my gardening and/or other improvement efforts in our rental home. Anyway, thanks for sharing that and your mermaid zine with me, and the adorable paper clips will be perfect for a project I have in mind for one of my little girls. Have a nice day!
Response: so glad you liked it! the gold leaf is the foil off of chocolates! have fun with your book!
Comment: Thanks so much for the beautiful masterboard piece. It's a piece of art all by itself! I think I will use part of it to make a Marie Antoinette ATC. The mermaid zine is awesome, I have making an altered book on my to do list. 💗☺
Response: So glad you like it! Sounds perfect for Marie!
Comment: They came out great, I'm coloring at the moment, I love coloring it's so relaxing. I think it's great you like doing these, I'm the one fixing things here at home, need to change the oil and spark plug on the tractor lol thank you!!
Comment: 🎨 😊 💗 This door is so gorgeous, much better than the pictures! I love it you really did a wonderful job on this little masterpiece. I was going to make a light made of beads but didn't; yours turned out really nice, I wish I would have made one now. Mine is on my flickr if you want to see how it turned out. Thank you for hosting such an awesome swap, it was a lot of fun! Oh and using my b-day as the house number was a cute touch, thanks. Thank you so very much for such a beautiful fairy door!
Response: aw! you are making me blush! it was a very fun challenge ( had to make two to get it right!) so glad you like it!
Comment: First of all, SOOOO cute! I love it. ♥ I can't believe your generosity in sending the stamp along with the images. It didn't really need "fixing"-- I just cleaned it up a bit as you requested, and I've already stamped it on about 50 envelopes. :)
I think you did a fantastic job with the letters; in fact, you inspired me to try to carve words myself (I've never tried it, either). I have no idea how you got such fine detail in some areas. What kind of tool did you use for little spots like the eyes and the paws? Anyway, thanks again for a fantastic gift. ♥
Response: just the little number one gouge that came with the carving kit. so glad you liked it!
Comment: Hi, Sam! Thank you so much for the jam packed envie of goodness! I love the postage stamps you used! Kitty card...adorable! Comment: Love the Christmas greetings! Pretty card. The recipe sounds good however, I am visually impaired and I cannot read it. Print is too small and too light. Would it be possible for you to email it to me? I would really appreciate that. Love your Christmas memory about the gingerbread houses, something I have never done including making gingerbread men. Maybe that's a new tradition I can add.
Response: definitely!! so sorry about that! I must have missed that!

Comment: @);- & <3's a thousand times over. It is simply the most unbelievable package of creativity, style and feminine charm. These are definitely "unmentionables" that should be mentioned and I won't even get my knickers in a twist over them...the only question is...since you included hangers...where is the wardrobe (closet) to put them in?

Comment: Fun card, thank you. Another currency question is why is a dime smaller than all of the other coins.By the way, what medium do you use to create the color wash in the background?
Response: Is it because silver is worth more than nickel? I use acrylic paint and my finger and then I dust it with glitter while its wet. Its very reandom and I do a bunch at a time so what ever color you get is what you get!!!!
Comment: Thank you for the beautiful 5 of diamonds.
I like using Mark's images also! I have used the man with coffee several times. We named him Joe!! This lady need

Comment: Thank you! The ornament you made is beautiful. Your recipe made me smile. When I was a kid, I decided to make dough ornaments one year. I had them all cut out and baked and was looking forward to painting them. My 4 year old brother found them cooling and crumbled them all into little bits. I felt crushed when I found them! That boy was such a brat when he was a baby!! We are close as adults though, so maybe I will try making dough ornaments again :)
Response: LOL! my nephew actually ATE his ornament last year and it was plastic!! He loves candy and the plastic sucker looked so real! This years ornament is a small sign that reads "regan, please dont eat the ornaments!" LOL!
Comment: Sam, what can I say about your mermaid pages but WOW!!!!! Really fantastic, you are an amazing artist! = ) Also, those bottle caps are SUPER. I've never seen altered bottle caps before and I was amazed. Thank you so much!

Wow, you must have hours and hours of work into it and I so very much appreciate it all. The paintings are amazing, the clothes closet and clothes for the mermaid are so creative, (haha, "I love Poseidon"), the hand cut print, the poem and feather tuck in, the vellum definition to veil to protect the sleepy mermaid, the doodle, and the awesome bottle caps!!! Response: LOL! I use my fingers to spread different colors of acrylic paint onto the surface of the card. while it is wet, I sprinkle some glitter! very messy! I do about 20 cards at a time!
Comment: WOW!!! What fun it was to open your package and see all the great stuff you sent. I'm sure I can make good use of it. I like glittery and shiney too. Thank you also for the little Red Riding Hood you made me. She is so cute and will make a great addition to my collection. Thank you for a great swap.
Response: You are so welcome and I really enjoyed making little red for you so much that I made one for myself!
Comment: YEAHHHHH!!! I love this style! LOVE the caramel corn hair... very creative way of upcycling food packaging! :) The lady is very cute and Marie Antoinette-ish, the colors are fantastic... just an awesome card all around! An all-Sam (or mostly-Sam) deck is fine with me, as is the nearly complete deck of loteria cards you've sent me by now! :)
Comment: Oh! I think I have a new favorite! :) Seriously, I LOVE this one! The 3-D house is so sweet, the colors are fantastic, and I love that the postage stamp is part of the picture, not just randomly slapped on there to make it purty... :P Clever, clever work, and of course the title made me laugh out loud. :) The extras are fantastic, too. Thanks so much, Sam!
Response: im so glad you liked it, it came together so fast and easy, I still giggle to think of jack spreading his "love" ! lol
Comment: Oh my... so much going on in this envelope, I'm not even sure where to start! Okay, your Two of Hearts is a beauty, and it makes me smile to know she has a sister out there. :) The extra mermaid and Two of Spades are much appreciated, and the stamped images may come in handy for future mermaid swaps! Por supuesto, me amo "El Valiente." Okay, I think that about covers it! :) Thanks, Sam!
Comment: Aw, she's a cutie! :) Love the extras... that glittery paper is fabulous! I took your advice and signed up early for the next couple of swaps, although I think I'll still be the last one in, unless we get some new blood... but now I know for future reference! :)
Response: Its not glittery paper! its actual glitter! You shake it on while the paint is still wet. looks like it is part of the background. (martha stewart brand ..I think)
Comment: Fabulous Four! Loved the textures and choice of materials, especially those funky cigarette labels. And I really appreciate the extras, both the foreign language pages and the vintage people extras, will definitely use them all very soon. Great swap, thank you very much.
Response: you are so welcome! glad you liked all the stuff!
Comment: Thank you so much for that wonderful package :-) What a creative mermaid :-D Unfortunatly the pop-tarts were smashed to pieces, but it was a really nice thought ;-) However I don't mind eating them cold sometimes, so I imagine the rubble will go down just fine ;-)
Comment: Hi Sam I love the mermaid ATCs you made! The little girl is just perfect for that and I really like your clever use of materials. The paper doll mermaid is an awesome idea! I will enjoy coloring her and will try to remember to send pictures. It will be so fun to play "dressup" the mermaid! Thank you for the fun, mermaid-y package.
Comment: Oh my goodness, did you go overboard! It was so lovely, I was sitting at home with my broken arm feeling all sorry for myself and it really made my day! I love everything, very thoughtful. Thanks so much!
Response: I hope you get to feeling better! thanks for the rating!
Comment: Thanks so much for the wonderful surprise today! The doll is fabulous, my boys liked it too.
Thanks a lot for all the extras!! That chocolate with the toffee chips and almond is (ehhhhh....was) just too delicious :). The jello was received with cheers from the kids, and now I can finally decently make some cake-pops, with the sticks you sent!
Response: I am so glad you liked all of it! I had fun finding the stuff for you and your boys... I only have one, so i cant even begin to imagine!!!
Comment: What a lovely little ornament! Unfortunately the PO made a mess of the package and I was afraid that the ornament would be ruined, but it survived just fine, amazingly enough. The card was totally rumpled, sadly. I loved it all, though -- thank you!
Response: I am so glad about the ornament and so sorry about the card! Were you even able to read it??? Have a very merry christmas!! thanks for the rating and the heart!
Comment: Gorgeous Jack Frost, i love him! Thank you sooo much. I also received a handwritten card which was a lovely touch and a personal story which was great. :-)
I posted a blog entry tonight here http://www.louisegale.blogspot.com/
Response: Wow! i'm going to be on your blog!! Thanks for the rating! I will go and check it out!
Comment: Thank you Sam for the glitteriest APCs ever. The Fab eggs are FAB - total masterpieces! I love the madonnas too. Your work is absolutely exquisite and I feel totally lucky to have two suites from you, both of which I love! Amazingly they got through the strike (4 days after the PO hired a bunch of agency staff - read, scabs according to the Communications Workers Union!) unscathed. Thank you so very much. with best wishes from Kim x
Response: I am sooo glad you got them! Hurray for "scabs"! LOL. I'll PM later
Comment: I love the ATCs and all of the goodies! We really are neighbors.... my pre-Ike home (& hopefully again, soon) is in San Leon, just down the road from Dickinson.... Thanks for the wonderful package!

Comment: The tarot were very interesting. were they random or picked face up?
Response: They arn't tarot. they are Mexican Bingo cards called Loteria. It took me awhile to figure out what you were talking about! I collect the mermaid out of each set and send the rest off into the world!

I am glad I got you as my partner in this swap..This is a great atc, how very clever to use the bar code this way...Very creative and you have the talent to make it all work so beautifully..I am impressed by your art, it's wonderful..Also I love the great extra papers, I always appericate them..I Thank you with a heart and if I could I would give you a 1000 more..
Response: Ironically, this was my first challenge but took forever to finally get to send off. i am so glad you liked it and you are so welcome!
Comment: Your atc is the most creative a beautiful use of something so ordinary. One man's trash is another man's treasure. I am delighted with all the wonderful extras, I especially like the Houston playing card. Thank you very much for this surprise package.
Response: Thanks so much! I am so glad that you like it!!!! :D
Comment: Thank you for the wonderful ATC! The Athena you drew looks like such a warrior goddess, and the altered bottlecap adds such unique dimension. Hmm.. my guess for the next
god/goddess would be Hermes. I guess we'll have to wait and see :-p
LOL don't worry, i was wrong too! I totally didn't see that one coming. Demeter...?!! :-p
Response: I am so glad you like her! I was thinking Haephastus. (cant spell that one!) Either way, I suspect it will be male.........How wrong was I?
Comment: WOW! Sam, thank you so much. These cards are brilliant, so clever and detailed - made with such obvious attention to detail and care. I am in awe of your amazing talent (and so are most of my co-workers) Thank you again for a lovely series of mini-masterpieces! All the best from Kim x
Response: I am so happy you liked them! when i saw your Bio, I thought they would be perfect and I was really excited to make them! Sam
Comment: thank you so much for the gorgeous ATC of Hera... you did an amazing job! i'm not sure which part is my favorite-- the handdone peacock feather background, the wonderful bottle cap (awesome with the lace under the resin!), or the image of Hera herself. again, thank you so much, and sorry about the delay in rating you :-)
Response: I am really glad that you liked her! I am really loving this series!!!
Comment: Sam, Great job! Both my kids and I were amazed at your creativity. (crafts coming in the mail is exciting for them too!) You have inspired me, now if only I could paint!
ps. the skull is one of the first things I noticed, it works perfect.
Thanks for the extras.

Comment: Thanks so much! The bottlecap thing is a great idea. I hope you enjoy the rest of the series! The second one is up for signups now, but I'll happily do another private one if you don't have the required swaps by the signup deadline.
Response: Laura, I would love to do another private swap. I wont have enough in time to do this one. (they only let me have 5 swaps at a time. I am about to send two off.) Are you going to be OK have art from the same artist? sam
