Comment: Hello Emilia, thanks for the swap and sending me the link about the reading challenge you are doing. Today is the first day of winter in my country and it feels . Our libraries opened up nearly two weeks ago and I have been enjoying reading new books again. Hope that you get to read some new interesting books . Happy reading from here in the southern hemisphere up to you in the northern hemisphere.
Response: Thanks for your comment :) I just came home from the library with two bags full of books! :D
Comment: Thank you so much for the beautiful kitty and birdie card. It's gorgeous. So lovely to hear from you in Finland. Your writing is so perfect and neat. I have another pen pal and photography friend in Finland who said she had snow. We had snow last weekend. UGH! Hurry up spring! Love Cathy/Writercat
Response: Yep, snow and hail showers have been coming and going. Last my tulips got a shower of snow on monday. I wish it would finally stop! :D
Comment: Wow, Emilia. Thank you so much for going out of your way to recommend the artist Ellen Thesslef. I have not heard of her but I will be looking her up , thanks to you.
Also the book Desire for Chocolate sounds good and so does See you in the Cosmos. And you are right who cares if the books are for young readers . I often read young, children books. Love them.
Will look up both of these at the libraries when they open. Happy reading.
Response: Thanks for this reply :) Lets hope that libraries will soon be open again!
Comment: Thank you so much for your thoughtful and insightful email, Emilia. I like Matt Haig, and enjoyed "Notes on a Nervous Planet," but wasn't aware of "How to Stop Time." Sounds like an interesting premise/plot to explore ideas about living and loving fully. "Desire for Chocolate" sounds like an intriguing read, as well. I always like when a book makes me feel alllll the emotions. <3 Take care!
Response: Thank you for this rating and the heart :)
Comment: Thank you! We've just had our stay at home order extended to the end of May, with a few exceptions. I work at a grocery store, so I have to work, anyway. I'm constantly surprised by how many people are not taking this virus seriously.
Response: Here the government is planning to start lifting some of the restrictions. Kids are going back to school on May 14. We'll see what happens after that.
I wish you a good day and safe time at work :)
Comment: This package was so beautiful starting from the mushroom stamp and decorations. I love the snail paper and your handwriting is so lovely! I can't wait to try the teas they smell lovely and I love moomin so it was exciting to see moomin character tea!
Response: I thought the mushroom stamp would delight you! :D Enjoy your tea :)
Comment: SO CUTE!!!!! I love this pig, thank you!!!
Response: Thanks, I was pretty pleased with how it turned out :) I'm still waiting for yours. Haven't got any international mail for a few weeks, but I hope I'll a get it all in one bunch sooner or later.
Comment: Thank you for sharing your day. I really enjoyed reading your answers, especially what you create right now! ;) By the way Ella Fitzgerald is a perfect choice to tune out...and now have a sunny Sunday. Stay well & positive!
Response: Thanks for commenting, sunny Sunday for you too! :)
Comment: Oh. My. Goodness. !!!! This was an amazing flipbook. Thank you so very much, Emilia. Loved all the twists and nooks you created. So very cute. I hope you are staying safe during this virus. Stay safe. Stay healthy. Wash your hands. Be blessed.
Response: I am so glad and relieved this flipbook finally made it to you! I had fun creating it, but I had started to worry it had gone lost in the post and all the time I put in making it was for nothing. Great that you like it :) Stay well!
Comment: Emilia, Thank you sooo much for the wonderful postcard you sent to me! The kitten reminded me of one we had when I was growing up that I hadn't thought of in a long time - nice happy memory! His name was Kasselmann and he was a black and white like the one on the postcard. I'm still working on my craft corner, but making progress. Meanwhile, I'm still crafting on the dining room table. I want to complement you on your beautiful penmanship! My writing is not as nice, so I noticed this immediately on your card. I also noticed and love the coffee stamp, and the "clouds with sun" drawing! So fun! Thank you for such a great swap! I hope we get to swap again soon! Stay safe, happy Spring, and keep swapping! Hearts and more hearts to you!!
Response: Thank you so much for this lovely, uplifting comment, it really made my day! I wish you a happy spring too :)
Comment: Thank you for your email and for joining my swap. My son tricked me into the world's oldest joke this year and told me that I stained my clothes with toothpaste. What's funny, in the evening he wanted to make fun of my sister, but when he told her that she had a toothpaste stain on her pajamas, it turned out that it was true :) Happy swapping! Stay safe and healthy!
Response: Haha, thanks for sharing your story too :)
Comment: Catida was my swap partner for the summer book reading list swap, and she sent me a lovely email with many book recommendations. She put a lot of effort into the email and the list. It made me feel very special! Thank you so much!
Response: Have a nice time reading, and thanks for the heart :)
Comment: Your favorite thing to do sounds like my cup of tea as well. And I think going down a cliff with a rope is very daring indeed. ôヮô And you’re so kind! Thank you for saying that about my name! I’m flattered.
Comment: I really love your green haired bubble gum girl! Not too cutesy at all. Your drawing & coloring are both so good, I can't believe you rarely draw people. It's going into my favorites binder! Great first black out poetry page too. :)
Response: I'm glad you liked it! :) It was fun to draw a face for a change.
Comment: Thank you so much for the charming little book you created using berry juices to illustrate Elizabeth Lamb's poignant haiku. The effects are lovely, but sadly in my sub-tropical climate the "inks" are melting & the pages sticking together. I hate adding chemicals to your delightful natural art, but I'll try spraying it with fixative to preserve it. Otherwise it will soon be lost to the heat & insect pests that come with my climate :-((
And thanks for the tip about Kaj Stenvall's recent Trump pieces. I visited his website to view them. How I'd love to see DT wearing that orange suit!
Response: I'm glad you liked my creation. I'm sorry I didn't come to think of the effect of warm/humid climate. Fixative is a great idea, I hope it helps!
Comment: OMG this is probably the best swap-bot mail I have ever received, you put so much thought and dedication to it! I can see how much you love where you are living c: And did I scream when I felt that paper that you wrote on! Thanks for telling me what it is c: I need to go buy some! It feels so light and buttery, did anything smear when you wrote on it and what is this amazing pen you used to write?! Its like calligraphy to me, you handwriting is superb!! I loved learning about where you live, Finland sounds amazing especially the forests and the community that you live in as well. I think it'll be awesome if your daughter and you can start horseback riding again in the future c: Also, thank you so much for the tea and little stamps too! <3 If I can give you more than 1 heart I definitely will!
Response: Thank you so much for your kind words :) I'm relieved, I was beginning to worry that this swap had gone missing.
I can't remember what pen I used. But my favourites for brush lettering are Tombow Fudenosuke and Zebra Disposable Brush Pen (extra fine tip). Both are pens with a fine, flexible felt tip, which is easier to handle than a real brush tip, and good for writing small font. For normal cursive or print I use various fiber tip markers (Pilot Drawing Pens are my long time favourite), and sometimes also ball point pens. Haha, it's so fun to meet a person who appreciates quality paper like I do :D Also, pens with felt or fiber tip last much longer when used on smooth paper :)
Comment: Thank you for the wonderful letter! You did really good with the fortune cookie phrases since you've only had one! And my sister and I loved your fact about the bird. Also, your cat sounds like mine with the biting into bags and bread. Thankfully we don't have to lock the cabinets, but we can't leave any edible things out otherwise they tear it open! And thank you for the cute stickers!
Comment: Thank you for your letter and answers. I loved reading both and think we'd get along great so will write back soon. Thank you for the Finnish phrases too. Don't worry, I don't ask 'how are you' to just get a 'I'm fine' answer :-).
Response: Great, I'm looking forward to your letter :)
Comment: Truly a great letter! I enjoyed reading sbout your family traditions and the full day you had. Thank you for the recipes. I am glad we were able to connect. I would of loved getting the purple paper! Yes, stationary is hard to find, no less purple.
Response: Thanks for rating and your e-mail, and for being so understanding about the letter gone missing :)
Comment: Wow! I absolutely love everything about this swap! The beautiful textures, layers, paint and careful collage work on the envelope ♡ I love the painted fox ATC ♡ (I was so pleased to see you credited your source image!) ♡ Your thoughtful letter was sweet (Your neat, even handwriting is fantastic in and of itself! - My students should take note! Ha!) ♡ I would love to do more swaps anytime. Thank you!!
Response: Thank you for your detailed feedback :) I might get back to you via private message regarding future swaps :) (ATCs perhaps?)
Comment: Great postcard, thank you. Totally in the Nick Bantock style! To answer your question, denim jumpers (not a sweater, it's a long sleeveless denim dress, worn over a t-shirt) are often worn by fundamentalist women who dress following a self-imposed "modesty" dictum. Those ppl also are often heavily into homeschooling--I do not fit that image AT ALL!
Response: I'm glad you liked it, and thanks for enlightening me :)
Comment: Thank you for your beautiful letter! Your brush handwriting so neat! I still want to learn. Thank you for all the extra butterfly cutouts and stickers. <3 To make homemade pumpkin spice just mix together 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg, 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger and 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves. You can store it this way in a small spice jar. It tastes great added to coffee and baked goods. Enjoy!
Comment: You have beautiful writing! Thank you for the letter, it was lovely to read and I really appreciate the tea. I've had other flavors in that brand and I've liked all of them, but I've yet to try the one you sent. Thank you!
Comment: Thank you so much for your concern and wonderful doodle! I really like your handwriting and colored pencil doodles. BTW, I'm keep good condition while I was reading it. Thanks again! Have a great week!
Comment: Thank you for the gorgeous teas, they are very beautiful. How disappointing that they stopped making the Paddington teas, I feel very lucky to have some. It was really nice to sit down and read your lovely letter too. Thank you ☺️
Comment: OH MY GOSH, IF I COULD GIVE YOU TONS AND TONS OF HEARTS AND A HIGHER RATING THEN I SO WOULD! Thank you so much for all the effort you put into this swap! I absolutely adore the letter and the envelope too! Thank you so much for sending this to me and thank you x a million for the book recommendations! I hope you have an extraordinary week ^_^
Comment: Great postcard! I absolutely love the stamp you used, and your handwriting is very nice. :) I like your description of the exhibits. They sound very interesting, so I will have to look up the artists. Thanx so much!
Response: I think it's the most beautiful finnish stamp published so far. It's not sold anymore, but I still have a few left in my stock. Thanks for participating this swap :)
Comment: Thank you for the nice postcard with a stamp! I enjoyed hearing about life in your country! Your printing is so small but beautiful. I enjoyed reading what you sent to me! Nice long days for you right now!
Comment: Thank you SO much for my joyful mail! I "do" LOVE the owl atc you made and of course, I can't wait to try the tea!!! And I don't usually save postage stamps, but since this came from Finland, I'm saving it!
Response: I thought I wrote a response for you long ago, but now I can't see it. I'm happy you liked the Owl ATC, and have a nice tea time :)
Comment: It is remarkable how well you write in English! I love your penmanship too. I enjoyed so much getting to know you and your family and I also learned a lot about the Finnish culture. Thank you for a great swap.
Comment: What a Wonderful swap! Thank you for the ATC - You paint beautifully, the details, the "Spring Tune", the extras, the recommendation, & for writing :) It feels so good when someone communicates :) I'd definitely check out The Summer Book!
Response: I was beginning to worry my letter had gone lost in the post. I'm so glad it reached you :) Thanks for the fun swap!
Comment: First off, the postcard is gorgeous and I absolutely love it! The stamp and your little note with it is incredible! Thank you so much! Your resolutions look like they're going well, you're doing amazingly! Congrats! Your library reading challenge sounds like fun! What's one of the books you've read for the challenge that you've loved so far? I'm sure the whole FB/computer thing will come with time, except I don't really have much advice because I'm a procrastinator. Anyway, thank you for the gorgeous postcard and for your resolutions report! I wish you a wonderful weekend!
Response: I don't know why I saw this rating first now. But thank you, I'm glad you liked the card. Of the 9 books I've read for the challenge so far, I have most liked two biographies (I find that interesting, since I usually don't care for biographies): Seeking Allah, finding Jesus by Nabeel Qureshi, and a finnish book about Juhani Huotari, who does international work to help christians who face persecution. I haven't yet read a really good novel this year.
Comment: I really enjoyed reading your recipe and description of the process and seeing the pictures. I agree with you -- the original recipe looked a bit too mono-flavour -- I'm sure the prawns and peas definitely improved it.
Comment: A wonderful hand painted card and a really neatly written note, I love the fish washi tape you sealed up the letter with. Thank you so much for this card, I have such a soft spot for hand painted ATC's this is a delight.
Comment: I really love how you paint him! It looks like the cat of a friend of mine...and when I walk with the mail I also see sometimes a cat like that to! We call him " heilige birmaan"
Thank you for the tea and stamps. =)
Here the snow just melted away and its -1. -19 isn't common for here...its a good thing...because it wil be disaster here...all the people wil freak out here..lol :P
Thank you again and I wish you very much happiness =)
Response: I'm glad to hear you liked my ATC. I did take model from some sacred birman photos when painting him. It's a beautiful breed :) I wish you all the best too!
Comment: Thanks for a lovely card and amazing postage. I love the fact that the card is printed in Spanish. I’d forgotten that the Canary Islands are part of Spanish territory. I’d love to exchange ATC’s with you. DM me your address and I’ll send an envelope your direction. Happy swapping
Response: Glad my card reached you! My ATC making has been very occasional lately, let me get back to you when I have some cards "in stock" :)
I cannot tell you how incredible your letter was! It was SO beautiful and your writing is exquisite! Thank you so much, you have no idea how much your writing alone brightened my whole day, but the ATC and tea were icing on an already gorgeous cake. Many Thanks!
Response: Thanks for your kind words, glad you liked it :)
Comment: Thanks for your answers. I found them very interesting! Re: your book recommendation from library staff request.I see you like historical fiction. There is a British YA author who writes some wonderful historical fiction novels. My favourites are Fallen Grace and Velvet as they are set in Victorian London. At The Sign of the Sugared Plum and its sequel are also very good and they are set during the Plague.
Response: Thanks for your suggestions. It seems Mary Hooper's novels are not translated in finnish, but some of them are available at the library in englihs. I might try to read some :)
Comment: WOW! Everything you sent is just SO beautiful! Your hand painted, marbled envie is gorgeous - as is your handwriting, the mermaid you drew in the tea cup and all of the amazing stamps! The teas look delicious and I can't wait to enjoy them! Thank you so much for this amazing swap! I wish I could give you many, many hearts!
