Comment: Thanks Cayleigh for organising this swap. It was my first one and your last one. I have never read or heard of the books that you listed but I guess that is the point of the swap. You have sparked my interest in the Ilona Andrews books and will request some of them from my library this week. Thanks for encouraging me to read something different which is a goal of mine for 2018. Happy readings for 2018.
Comment: Thank you so much! I also read The Sugar Queen this past quarter---and I love the Bear books by Karma Wilson! I've been reading them to my kids for 15 years or so and we love all the sweet characters. Thanks for sharing!
Comment: Thanks for the notes about the books you read. I don't read fantasy but it's good to know what I'm not reading. The Transcriptionist cuaght my attention because that's work I did for many years --but not in seclusion and it didn't lead to an adventure-- just as well.
Comment: Thank you for your answers to the many questions, Cayleigh! Some thoughts: I too collect Patricia Briggs' Alpha & Omega and Mercy Thompson series. I read Silence Fallen and was really relieved that it was a new story, since its description made it sound like it had a recycled storyline--just set in a new place. :-/ I also try to keep my books in pristine condition! Only I don't lend my "preciouses" to anyone; instead, I buy "new" copies to loan out. :-) I am fascinated that you like Asher from the Anita Blake series. I always enjoy hearing what people think of characters I despise, and Asher is one most people seem to either love (like you) or hate (like me). :-) Lastly, for not really understanding what tropes are, you sure were successful at sharing what tropes you most like and most hate! :-) Oh! One truly last thing, you mentioned Anne Bishop's Black Jewels books several times (have you read any of The Others books?). I LOVED that series but one of the death's in it so devastated me that I still remember it five years after reading it. :'( And I haven't bought that series for rereading. But now that a bit of time has passed, and my reviews are pretty shoddy, I think I might buy the series for eventual rereading. :-) Thank you so much for sharing! :-)
Response: Hi! Thank you for the heart. Yes, it took me a while to decide to try The Others, but I really like that series as well! Though not as much as Black Jewels. = ) Interesting our completely opposite reactions to Asher~
Comment: hi! i was away from home in April and was thinking where was your swap. so I went through all the mail that I got during my absence, not just the envelopes...and yours was stuck to a magazine! so sorry for the delay in rating.thank you very much!lovely books you have read. I read aprobably most of Charlaine Harris's books but I never read the Midnight series. must! I like how she writes,it's catchy though there are moments you wish more of some books. The Raven Boys made me think of Kim Harrison's Rachel Morgan series because of the Ley Lines....hehe. Thank you again for a lovely swap!
Comment: There's a lot of books here that I've been contemplating reading myself! I think that you've swayed my decision on a few, hopefully I get around to reading them, too!!
(ps: thank you for using the awesome bird stamps!!)
Response: Glad you like the stamps, I love to mix them up! I hope you enjoy the books you decided to read based on my reviews! = )
Comment: Thank you for this wonderful note and gift. I just had a kinda rotten day and this truly kind note could not have come a better time. You write beautifully. Thank you for sharing your gifts with me.
Comment: I love your lists! The bookmarks are the cutest idea I've seen in awhile! I love that your top 5 on tbr pile are all books I have never read. I'm intrigued! And you've made me want to read and see the Martian. That one is on my tbr pile. And I wanted to see the movie AFTER I had read it. Thanks so much! I thoroughly enjoyed your lists.
Response: Happy you enjoyed them! Totally read the Martian first to get the full effect of Watney's excellent humor and will to live, and then sit back an enjoy the movie knowing it does justice to the book. Glad you liked the bookmarks also, they are cute and easy way to send fun stuff to other readers!
Comment: What a wonderful swap! Thank you so very much! It made my day! I had never seen one of these before, but it looked fun! Thanks too for no purple. You must have gotten a subconscious message that I was going to be your partner. I so appreciate your attention to detail. This swap deserves 5 hearts! Hugs from Alaska, Sherry
Response: Yay! I had a fun time making it and staying away from purple was an interesting yet fun challenge. It made me realize how much I reach for certain colors! = ) I'm happy it pleased you!
Comment: Thank you so much for the adorable pocket letter. I LOVED the girl on the bike, Thank you so much :):) Thank you also for the wonderful goodies, I love that beach line it is so cute!! My sister & her husband are huge Marvel fans as well, & also huge collectors, & they never ever miss the San Diego Comic Con :):) Lol Also it is so funny you called yourself a paper hoarder, my sis & I have a joke that we share because the 2 of us are huge paper hoarders. Lol So funny Anyways thank you again for an awesome swap & happy swapping until we swap again.
Response: So happy you enjoyed it! *high-five* fellow paper hoarder!
Comment: thank you so much for the swap and for hosting :) it is the one swap I enjoy joining every quarter and I do so even if I do not sign up for anything else for longer periods of time.it is simply great and I can only say a big THANK YOU!
Comment: Thanks so much! Love the Bostons - so thoughtful! And, I forgot to tell you - Lemon and Olive are named for t.v. characters -Liz Lemon on 30 Rock, and Olivia Dunham from Fringe. Mystery solved!
Comment: Thanks for your recommendation. I love time travel, so perhaps I'll give this a try, even though I wasn't a fan of Ender's Game at all. Have you seen the St Mary's Chronicles by Jodi Taylor? It's the best time travel books that I have read, they are so funny and good! The first one is "Just One Damned Thing After Another". The characters are flawed and the action is crazy. I love it!
Response: I have not seen that series, but I'm going to look it up! With a title like that it has to be fun I think! Thank you for the heart. I am a big fan of Ender's Game, but I can honestly say I don't think EG and Pastwatch are very similar so you might enjoy it. = )
Comment: Apologies for the late rating! I enjoyed reading your year in review. I hope you are able to meet your book goals for this year. I haven't read any of the books you listed, except HP of course. I looked into the time travel one (love me time travel) but doesn't look like my cup of tea.
Comment: Hi Cayleigh, I love the book pocket letter you made for me. Great choice of quotations! I've hung it over my office desk so I can enjoy looking at it -- it will eventually find its way into the lever arch file where I keep ATCs and pockets letters. And thanks too for the lovely newsy letter!
Response: Glad you like it! This one was a fun PL to make. = )
Comment: Thanks for your survey Cayleigh, it was an interesting read! :) It's so fun to read these surveys as it's different to usual reviews. Don't worry about your computer issues, I didn't mind a bit.
Comment: Thank you so much for you reading log that arrived today. I love the idea of having the covers printed out. Smart idea because now I can see what I am looking for! You have read some interesting books and covered a wide variety of genres.
Comment: Thank you for your reading log - I loved reading all your comments on the books you've read.
I'm so jealous that you usually manage to reread 15-20 books a year. I wish I reread more as I feel that I'm neglecting some old favourites, but I always feel a bit guilty when I have so many new and shiny books to read!
Comment: Hi Cayleigh. Thank you for a lovely pocket letter! It must have taken a few trips around the globe! Almost two months, that has to be a record! But it arrived safely! It was fun seeing your worksketch, great idea to include it. You put so much work into this, it was a joy to receive. And lovely goodies! Thank you! :)
Response: Oh I'm so glad it made it to you! I cannot believe it took so long!! You are right, it has probably traveled everywhere in the meantime! I'm very happy you love it! This one is one of my favorites that I have made. Thank you for the heart! = )
Comment: Thanks a lot Cayleigh for the lovely decorated pages you sent to me. I have really enjoyed to read your 7 prompts, some were funny, others quite serious and others just interesting. Thanks again to share this swap with me, it was really great ;-)
Comment: I loved your ATC's =D You are much more creative than I am. I hope you won't be disappointed with mine when you get them. Yours give me some ideas for future ATC's as well. Thanks for the lovely ATC's and for being willing to finish out the series with me.
Happy creating and happy swapping!
Response: So glad you liked them! I had such a blast making them and I'm glad we could do the series together. = ) I'm positive yours will be lovely also!
Comment: Thank you for the neat pocket letter. I absolutely love it. I like the pocket in which you spelled my name out. Super!!! I love the sticky labels and will put them to good use. The rest I am definitely using in my scrap booking :)
Response: Awesome, I'm so glad you liked it! I had a great time creating it for you. = )
Comment: From @pammykn : "she used washi tape on the edge of every page making it very creative and included book covers that she liked. She had a variety of entries from washi made bookmarks, books bringing on vacation, books and their movies, and on & on. She really did a great job!"
Comment: Great letter! It was nice to "meet" you and hear about a book through your thoughts. You definitely made me want to read it and you should definitely read Girl on a Train when you can! All the best to you. Caly
Response: Hi Caly, thanks for the rating and heart! I just got the notification from my library that my request for the audio copy of Girl on a Train is available, so I'll be listening to it while I craft for the next few days! = )
Comment: THANK YOU! i love the colours and i had so much fun opening all the pockets. sorry for the late rating - i was moving house and din't get my post directed- and then i went on holiday so i have been really busy.
Response: I hope it was a lovely holiday! No worries about taking some time to rate, I just wanted to make sure that it actually made it to you. Super glad you enjoyed it! = )
Comment: Oh, the paint background is beautiful! I love the mix of colors and the overall look & feel of it. Definitely a good choice for an ATC from an artistic standpoint, even if the book wasn't one of your favorites.
Comment: Thanks for a great pocket letter! I love the adorable owl and really love the washi tape book marks! Recommendations look great also!
Response: I'm glad you love the owl, I was worried he'd be too whimsy for your tastes, but thought he was too cute not to include. If you end up reading any of the books recommended, I'd love to know what you think of them! = )
Comment: Lovely job with the watercolors! I was happy to receive from you again for this swap, eventhough I was to send elsewhere. I didn't see the passage included, but the ATC itself was creative and fun and definitely green! :-)
Response: I accidentally forgot to include it! Ooops! I'll send you a message with the passage. =D
As always, so glad you enjoyed it!
Comment: THANK YOU so much for a terrific PL. So many wonderful goodies. Of course I love the Mulan, the vintage stickers, the fun diecuts, the very cool Target gc, and the used postage...basically ALL! *heart*heart*heart*
Response: So happy you love it so much! I hope you have lots of fun using the goodies...and creating more Pocket Letters in the future!
Comment: Your ATC got put in my pile of mail from when I got back from my work trip and then totally misplaced. I'm so sorry for the late rating. But I found it last night and it is safely in my ATC binder where it belongs now. Thank you for it! The yellow books (Nancy Drew!) all sitting on a yellow/wood bookshelf together. You are so clever! I've really enjoyed all the ATCs you've sent for this series. And I love Watchmen, so it was a personal joy to see that collection there as part of the ATC.
Comment: A very interesting selection, Cayleigh. I enjoyed particularly hearing about the Corban Loosestrife series. Some stories are so intriguing that they lead you to more in their period/setting. I've found that recently with books set in coal mining country, not at all my usual. Thanks for swapping!
Comment: Wow you read fast. I am an avid reader, but tend to be a slower reader too. I only had 6 books on mine. I love that you gave me reviews of all these books though. I will have to check some of them out, especially The Nightingale, because I love war stories. I recently finished all of the Harry Potters too. In addition, I also loved The Goblet of Fire and Sirius is one of my favorite characters. I even picked his wand when we went to Harry Potter world at Universal studies.I want to re-read them at some point as well. Thank you and happy reading.
Comment: I am SO SORRY for the late rating. I really thought I went on here from work... maybe I got distracted at work and forgot to hit save? Argh! Sorry! Anyway, I adore the ATC you sent. How incredible clever to choose Buttercup the cat as the subject! Ha! I was shocked in the first movie when Buttercup was NOT orange, but at least they got him right later. Thank you for the adorable and creative ATC!
Comment: Thanks for the book suggestion, Caleigh, I must check out that series; the author is new to me. And I am also going to check out the mystery series from the entry just above yours. Happy reading and swapping!
Comment: I absolutely loved your letter! The dental info was fascinating (I love that kind of stuff) and I love that you're helping nursing mommies - that has to be such a comfort to them! We actually have quite a bit in common (and my middle name is Michelle - I never use my first name!) I think I'll respond if you don't mind! :)
Comment: This is just amazing. I made my first book too and I found it really challenging. I also really, really enjoyed the process. I can't believe all the cool ideas you encorporated. I love to sew and never thought to use thread! The book you sent is a work of art. I can't believe how beautifully and meticulously you bound it! I want you to know that I really appreciate your art and will treasure my book. 1,000 hearts!
Response: I'm ecstatic that you like the book! I hope you have as much fun filling it up with your thoughts/doodles/fabric as I had making it! Thank you for the kind words and hearts. = )
Comment: It is safe and sound with me! Thank you for the great ATC. It's not a book I've read, but it sounds fascinating. I will definitely have to make a note to pick it up some day. You were so creative with your ATC and did a great job representing the themes artistically. Thank you!
Response: Glad you like it! I had a laugh when I got your card in the mail because Red Rising was on the front of the envelope. = )
Comment: I'm wanting to reread the HP series again this year as well. My daughter is obsessed and keeps spoiling me on details that I forgot over the years. I'll have to look up the other books you mentioned, I love finding new things to read. <3ed the London card as well- it's the #1 place I'd like to travel to.
Response: Happy reading this year! I'd say go for re-reading HP, I'm having so much fun this second time around. Next I'm going to marathon the movies after I finish the books. = P
Comment: As a librarian, I'm always interested to see what others are reading, and to add to my "To read" list. There's over 3000 books on there now--I'll never live long enough. I'm "Chi Dubinski" on goodreads (that's my cat's name. Thank you.
Comment: What a great journal and definitely worth the wait. Sorry to read about your dad's passing. I love the way you used the ribbon on the cover to tie it together I so will be using that in my future journals. I am so glad that this journal has ignited so many memories and things to inspire you to continue to craft. I too enjoyed this journal and this journal experience. You have such lovely writing and such an ease with words. Reading this journal I felt like you were right in front of me. Thanks for joining my swap and I look forward to hosting another in the future. Thanks again - it's such a lovely well done journal.
Response: Thank you, I'm so happy you enjoyed the journal. Thanks again for your patience and lovely rating. Looking forward to getting back into the journals/scrapbook/chunky book crafting that I love so much, thanks for the inspiration!
Comment: I enjoyed reading your answers. I love my nook. I can blow up the font bigger and not give myself the readers headache. I cry too if something happens to an animal character in a book I'm reading. Thanks for joining the swap!
Comment: Received your swap today and it was perfect. :) Loved the napkin, it was great. I did a similar thing with color coding places I love that I have been to and places that I would want to visit because I think they are cool. I only had 10 total though. Thanks so much for your swap, it was great!
Comment: Thanks Cayleigh for the interesting read! I love the Hunger Games and was impressed with the movie version (although I had no idea Lenny Kravitz was in it!). I have read My Sister's Keeper but not seen the movie. I am shocked they completely altered the ending, I guess WHY would be every reader's question. Happy reading and swapping. :)
Comment: Loved reading your letter---your to-read list sounds amazing, I'd be particularly interested to read the midwifery book, it's not something I know anything about and I'd like to learn. I think I may have signed up for a Goodreads account ages ago and never really used it, I should go look into that...
Comment: What a super journal page you made for me. I love your design and all the different pieces and lines to the mermaid. Very clever! This is going to be a great addition to the journal. Thanks so much.
Hugs to you as you heal from the loss of your Dad.
Comment: I really love the mermaid and the glitter!!I I love the material/paper you used for the bottom part of her body. Also love the poem by W>B Yeates on the back. Thanks so much for the lovely addition to my mermaid book!!
Comment: Thank you for the cute page. Love the paper pieced/die cut mermaid, the blue glitter and the poem on the back. Thinking of you during the difficult time you're going through. Prayers and good thoughts to you still. Hugs, Bonnie
Comment: I received your page this morning, and it is cute. Thanks so much. I know this has been a difficult time for you, but you will soon return to "normal." You will find your dad in your heart forever. Take care.
Comment: Thank you for an incredible journal! If I could give extra hearts, I could; your entries really went above and beyond, I felt. And two CDs! Thank you! =)
P.S. I'd totally hang out with Nefertiti, too! =)
Response: =D Making this journal was a real delight. Thank you for the heart!
Comment: Hello Cayleigh,
Thank you for the incredible chunky page you created for the "7 Continents of the World Chunky Pages-South America" Swap. I appreciate greatly your patience and understanding with my slowness in getting your rating done. I just love what a creative way you represented Peru--especially the Andes Mountains. The ruins are great and so is the woman dressed in typical attire. I have really enjoyed this swap and you have done a great job hosting it. I look forward to putting the book together and sharing with other. I look forward to swapping with you in the future. Until then, Happy Swapping!!!
P.S. Thank you for the Canadian Chunky Page you made for me for the "7 Continents of the World Chunky Pages-North America" Swap. I like how you use photos for the back drops of your chunky pages. Thanks for angeling this swap.
Comment: YAY FOR DINOSAUR FOSSILS! PS - I totally want to go to Chicago. I have penpals there and it seems like an amazing city. Did you have a wonderful experience there?
Response: I did have a great time. Was only there for the weekend, but managed to do a lot. I'd definitely recommend one of the double decker bus tours cause they take you all over the city, can get on and off and walk around. The only thing I still have to get used to is paying for entrance at museums since DC has me spoiled for free museums. ha ha. Navy Pier was a lot of fun also. lol
Comment: Girl, you are so on top of everything! I wasn't expecting to get the chunky page at school, thank you for that! Made my day because it's my first mail here hehe. The page is wonderful, I love how you have your own picture in the background. Really brings a place like that to life since I've never been there. Wonderful!! Thank you :-D
Response: Wow, that got there so quick! Sometimes the postal system amazes me. Super pleased you like it, if you ever get a chance to go to Niagara, it really is amazing. Hopefully from now on your school mailbox stays full with fun stuff. I started back swapping and stuff in college cause I hated going to an empty box all the time! ha ha.
Comment: Hello Cayleigh,
First of all, I wish to extend my apology for how long it has taken to complete the rating for this swap. I look forward to adding your beautiful Greece Chunky Page to my ever-growing and ever-changing Chunky Page Collection. More specifically, I look forward to adding it to my 7 Continents of the World Chunky Pages Series. I really think the addition of the Greek Link around the border and the Greek words background adds a lot to the chunky page. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Comment: I too am a fantasy fan! I love the quote book. And my favorite quote which was illustrated for me by an artist 30 years ago was the one All who wander are not lost. Thank you thank you.
I just finishes reading ariel by Boyett. Very nice unicorn, post apocryphal fantasy.
I so rarely find someone else who enjoys that genre, tat I was caught off guard. Thank you!
Response: Cool, thanks for the book recommendation! Will definitely look into it. I'm very happy you like the quotes I picked out for ya, and have tons of fun adding your own. =D
Comment: Too cuuuute!!! I loooooove the Porcupine in a Pumpkin Patch. That was just adorable! The Don Quixote was perfect considering my drawing skills are almost exactly like the Picasso painting haha. Brilliant idea to use pipe cleaners to make a Rooster! I would've never thought of that. Thank you so much! Hope you're able to wait for the next set, might have to wait til after the holidays.
Response: Thanks! I think this has been my favorite set so far! =D I was going to use feathers but then thought i didn't have the patience for that but I really love how it came out. I will be eagerly waiting for the next set for sure, but after the holidays is a-ok for me.
Comment: Thanks very much for your reading list, some interesting stuff :) It is fun to receive the list from someone you know, especially as you were reading some of them whilst I was there. You are ploughing through books at the moment.
Comment: Oh my gosh, Cayleigh! You're freakin awesome! What clever pages :-D I'm easy to entertain too and I actually hadn't heard most of those jokes hehe. The kangaroo pouch was super cute. And the lunch box!! I would've never thought of that! Thank you!!!!
Response: I'm so happy you like them, this series is really helping me explore my imagination. = ) Thanks for the heart!
Comment: Hello Cayleigh,
Thank you so much for being willing to do a private swap so that I could get the A, B and C chunky pages of this A-Z Chunky Book project. You did three beautiful pages to start out my A-Z Chunky Book. Although all the pages are great, my favorite page is the C is for Colors page. Thank you for sharing some of your creativity with me. Did you paint those squares or did you cut them and then lay them out? It was my pleasure to do pages for you as well. Hope we meet up again, not just on this swap, but hopefully on some other swaps. See ya soon.
Response: I'm so happy you like the colors page the best. I'm going to be honest, I had a hard time putting that one in there cause I loved how it came out! I'm going to make myself a page like it this weekend, but maybe a little bigger to decorate my wall. I got the idea from the Seminole Patchwork flyer I picked up at a shoe museum. lol. Thank you for the heart also. =D
Comment: Thank you for these pages- I thought the four page was a very clever choice and the bunny is so cute-is he yours?
Response: Ha ha. No, Emo Bun is someone else's that I found posted on the site www.cuteoverload.com (full of cute animals & updated daily) The Four page was my favorite also. = ) Thank you for the heart!
Comment: Hello Cayleigh,
Well, we were matched up again for another chunky page swap.
I received your Chunky Page yesterday for the "7 Continents of the World Chunky Pages-Oceania" Swap. With this swap there are limited choices because of the continent it is. I am doing Australia as well and you chose that as well. Your colored map of Australia was a nice feature for the chunky book page. The kangroo cork with the black markings representing hops is a cool feature on the chunky page. I will add your page to my other Continent Chunky Pages and will proudly add your page when I put all the continent pages all together into a Continent book. Happy Swapping until we meet again at future swaps at Swap-bot.
Response: The kangaroo part was my favorite part of it too. Glad you like!
Comment: Hello Cayleigh,
I received your Asian Chunky Book Page-Mongolia yesterday in the mail. The use of photography as your main form of illustration was nice. The use of black lettering against the photo background drew my eye there first. The note you wrote along with the page helped me understand why you chose the country. We have been swapping with one another often lately and I hope we continue to do so. Until we meet again, Happy Swapping!
Comment: Hello Cayleigh,
I am being short and sweet with my comments as I have many ratings to do. So, being short and sweet does not mean anything bad. Thank you for the unique page you created for the Antarctic Chunky Page. I really like the use of clear pieces to represent a row of mountains and I love how you did the background. Hope we meet at future swaps. Happy Swapping!
Comment: I know this is way late, but I came across your log again today and I just wanted to make sure I rated you...which I didn't. Anyway, thanks for your log. I think it gave me a good idea of what you look for and enjoy in books. Thanks for sharing your reading life with me.
Comment: thank you for the wonderful package of blue/green goodies! i love everything in the package, especially the book! i can't wait to read it... and be creative with all the craft supplies you provided! thank you so much!
Comment: Cayleigh!! Wowie!!! Did you spoil me today!!! Thanks so much for all the great Halloween goodies!! I guess it was rather hard for you to stay under just one stamp eh? I have absolutely NONE of any of the items you sent. If you hadn't read my profile, its Halloween all year round for me and I'm really suprised to get things that I've never seen or don't already have! Your Diddl stationary is adorable too, I love the lil ghostie notes that detach ;) Thanks so much for brightening my day! 100+ hearts for you! ♥
Response: I'm so glad you liked it! Yeah, I'm a big fan of Halloween too so once I started putting stuff together it was like I couldn't stop! :-P
Comment: Cayleigh, I LOVE your package! Thank you so much!!!! I'm in heaven with the chocolate coffe. I will be making some later this evening. And the skull stickers are so cute. And seriously, were you reading my mind? I've been thinking lately that I need some glitter and would like some stencils and here they are! I love everything so much. Thank you, thank you, thank you! :)
Response: yes, I do practice mind reading in my spare time. :-P Yay, I'm so pleased that you liked everything so well. Thanks for the heart.
Comment: The book series sounds really good. The tie-in with the Christian themes si really interesting as well (i.e. Daemon for demon, Lucivar for Lucifer, and Saetan for Satan). I'll have to keep an eye out for this series.
Response: If you read it let me know what you think. : )
Comment: Hello and thank you for very nice package, I loved all things. Yes by pencils I meant the normal pencils without ink, sharpies were fine and till now I didnt know what sharpies are - thought that it is something sharp:)
so thank you and you deserve heart.
Response: Thank you so much! and I am very glad you liked it. :D
