Comment: Sorry that computer issues and holidays delayed my response! I completely agreed with your letter about Thoreau -- it was only after I discovered that he was a very entertaining travel writer that I felt like I could read a piece all the way through :) Check out his trip to Quebec -- I have been there, and his portrayal of Scots guards at the Citadel was classic ... I nearly split my sides laughing at his speculations on their chances in a kilt versus long underwear! I would love to do 1:1 book reviews/ challenges with you once you are settled again -- family life. Nuts. But I have so enjoyed these swaps :)
Comment: Thanks so much for the swap and your sweet letter. :) I'm just about over this cold, I'm at about 95%, so I'll take it. It's been forever it seems, since I felt completely myself! Hope all is well with you!
Comment: I'm so glad you enjoyed the book, especially since it held such significance for you. If you'd like to try Asimov beyond the three books you have (if you can find time with your little ones!) I recommend the Lije Baley series starting with Caves of Steel.
Comment: Thanks for your lovely well-thought-out letter -- I feel that if we put our two letters together we synthesize something. Of course, mine is less well thought out and messier! I did enjoy reading about Huxley and reading Huxley; thanks for hosting a thought-provoking swap!
Comment: Thank you for your letter! I love your analysis of LOTF. I read that in high school and i think I have been afraid to reread it, afraid to loose the magic of the first read, similar to how you were telling me about your past experiences. thanks again for the letter! loved it
Comment: I know exactly what you mean. I did the same thing for my Roulette book - picking it up and then putting it back down. It was an excellent book but for some reason being on a deadline made me procrastinate on it. Thank you for your amazing review of March! It sounds like an excellent book!
Comment: I enjoyed reading your thoughts on the book. I thought it sounded good but I don't know how long it will take me to get to it because like you my TBR list is a mile long...maybe more. Happy swapping!
Comment: I also read The Age of Innocence and really enjoyed it.
I had many of the same feelings about it as you did, although once Newland married May, I was glad that he didn't leave her to go be with Ellen - I just thought he should never have married her in the first place! :) Thanks for your review - I really enjoyed reading it.
Comment: Thanks so much for a great list! You're the second one who has recommended The Moonstone this year...I think I'll read it! I'm also interested in Bad Astronomy and The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry. Have fun reading this summer! :)
Comment: Thanks for your map and list of books! I love the Anne Fadiman book, too. She used to be the editor of a magazine called The American Scholar. If you run across any back issues anywhere, they're worth a read!
Comment: Thank you for your log! I also have read A Long Way Down which I didn't care for too much and A Curious Incident..which I did like when I read it a few years ago. Some other books peaked my interest, so I'll have to check those out :)
Response: Its funny how some books work for us and others just don't. But I know I am not the only one to feel that way about A Long Way Down. I don't think it was one of his best. Thank you for the rating and the heart.
Comment: I know exactly what you mean about keeping track of these things and rating them! Your pages are lovely! And I love the colours you used in your spread- did you use Copics by any chance?
Response: They were ProMarkers which I am still very unsure with. I see so many beautiful uses of ProMarkers but I need a lot more practice with them. I am really glad you liked the pages - I have to admit when I see some of the work I feel very unworthy! There are so many talented people here!
Comment: I've received your wonderful journal and have read a first couple of entries - but I can see already how much you've put into it and will of course read on. I just wanted to let you know that it's arrived safely and well - and that I love it already. :) Thank you so much!
Response: It was my pleasure - it was definitely a labour of love!. I hope you enjoyed the swap as much as I did and thank you so much for taking part.
Comment: I loved the butterfly and your note about the whole process was hilarious - I know exactly what you mean.
The only bummer is that because the packaging was so thin, the butterfly arrived broken. I am gonna try to repair it with some glue and washi tape because it is so cute. Since this is an international swap I don't want to ask you to resend due to cost. Just maybe an FYI to use a thicker envelope or maybe some bubble wrap next time. Thank you so much and I appreciate receiving your first decoupage effort!!
Response: Oh, I am so, so sorry! I will make it back up to you - I can't believe it broke. It's definitely my fault, I should have used a bubble wrap envelope. Leave it with me. I will get something else over to you very soon as I feel completely responsible.
Comment: Thank you so, so very much! Your package was so wonderful! I will enjoy using every thing in it!you deserve multiple stars for paying attention to so many details on my profile! I look forward to swapping with you again!
Response: I am so thrilled you liked it - it was such a pleasure to put it together. Enjoy and please do email me with the pictures of the project - I can't wait to see how you've done with it. Thank you so much for the lovely rating.
Comment: Thank you for the wonderfull sampler, and the extras!!!!
Response: My pleasure! It is really looking good now - probably not too long and it will make it back to its owner. I love seeing samplers that I have had before to see what other people have done with them. thank you for the lovely rating.
Comment: Super background chosen for your pc Nancy, I am already mulling over what to add. Thankyou very much for reading my profile and sending me the train and station pc's they are very much appreciated :)
Response: My pleasure! I love it when I can find something extra to add which just fits someone's profile. I can't wait to see how the postcard turns out.
Comment: Again a wonderful letter. I'm always sad when I reach the end when I'm reading your letters, because your writing is amazing.:-) I have the same opinion as you do: I like 'funny', but most of the books which claim to be funny are actually very boring and very predictable. :-O Congratulations with the pregnancy, I hope everything will go well in ten weeks^_^ Thank you for the great swap.
Response: Hopefully we'll be swap partners many more times in the future as it is always great to write for someone who I know appreciates it. Thank you also for your wishes - I can't wait until baby is born and I won't be waddling around quite so much any more!
Comment: Holy cow that's a big PC! Love it and love what you did with it. I too love having windows open - hearing the birds and feeling the fresh air after being cooped up all winter is such a great feeling. Thanks again!
Response: It's actually really nice to get it sent to someone as it had made my PC box very difficult to close! I'm glad you liked it and thank you for the lovely rating.
Comment: Thank you for the lovely letter. I love how honest you were. I didn't choose that book so it was great to get a review before I read it. Happy reading!
Response: I have to admit, if I don't like a book I'll be happy to say why! It is often good to read things that aren't really 'you' just so that you know. Thank you for the lovely rating and it was great to swap with you.
Response: Thank you - and I loved knitting it! I really like how cabling works out. It seems strange to do it at first, but it looks so effective. Thank you again for being my partner and for the wonderful rating.
Comment: I love the yarn. I wouldn' t have known you were just starting out with lace knitting, if you didn' t tell me. It' s beautiful and so soft. My first lace project is still on the needles after, 1 year. Not sure when it will be completed. :) Happy knitting!
Response: Thank you for your lovely comments! I really enjoyed doing it, despite getting myself into a few difficulties. I have now bought a book on lace knitting to try and take it a bit further. Keep at it - it is really rewarding. Thank you so much for the lovely rating.
Comment: Thank you for your book review! The book I read, The Boomerang Clue, was also not a Poirot or Marple mystery (although it was a murder mystery) and I enjoyed it quite a bit. The book you read sounds really interesting. I recently read a few books set in modern-day Afghanistan and it would be interesting to read this one to compare the middle East in the 1950s with the middle East today. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and if you're still looking for authors to add to the series, I'd love to see Charles Dickens in there somewhere!
Response: I am glad you found something new and unexpected as well! You are the second person now who has asked for Dickens, although we did him as the first one. I think we might need to do a Dickens Round 2 for everyone who missed out! Thank you so much for the lovely rating and for taking part.
Comment: What a fabulous book list - I have read some of the books, but you have peaked my interest on a few others. I also love Louise Penny's books. I don't know whether you like indie music, but if you do check out this youtube video. This group created an album based on Margaret Atwood's book "Handmaid's Tail" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTaZSpuVwfs If you can't reach link the group is called Lake of Canada and it's there most recent album (I think). I also wanted to tell you what a great job you did on your reviews. You reminded me that I need to write my reviews right away instead of waiting until the end.
Response: What a great video - thank you! I am really glad you enjoyed reading the reviews. It does make it quite a bit easier to write them as you go, although I don't always do it myself!
Comment: Wow, what a great letter!^_^ It was really enjoyable to read. My first thought was: "Wow, she needs to become a writer!" Afterwards I saw on your profile that you are one.XD lol You are talented. Your letter was more enjoyable then the book that I've read.XD Reading the contents of your letter I realised I was looking in a mirror. I also didn't like my book. It also was a book recommended by someone else. Maybe we shouldn't trust people for book reviews anymore. :-p My book was Unseen by Karin Slaughter. Allthough I don't think it was the author's writing that bothered me, but also the person and story itself. Thank you for typing the letter, it's really easy to read that way. I'm so glad I was partnered up with you. It's a great swap you hosted too, It really was about time that I was going to read my books from my bookcase, they've been sitting there for years. I've become an addict for my e-reader now. So it was really enjoyable to hold an actual book again(allthough the story wasn't so great).
Thank you for this great swap. Have you published a book already? I would love to read one. ^_^
Response: Wow, thank you so much for your kind comments! They have really given me a boost. No, I haven't published anything yet, partly because I so often doubt myself, but also because it is only in the past couple of years since I started my MA that I have seriously got down to writing. I am so glad you liked the swap - I am really enjoying it too. Even with books I don't like, at least I know and can make way on my shelves for something new.
Comment: Thank you for your interesting and thoughtful comments on 'Ex Libris'. I also read this one for the March Book Club and share your mixed responses to the essays! I did, however, love the proofreading family -- for some of us, it is impossible not to see typographical errors! I've looked at Amazon and she does have a second book of book-related essays called 'At Large and At Small: Confessions of a Literary Hedonist' which I might try at some time in the future.
Response: I also discovered I have another book of essays by her on my shelf which aren't related to books, so I am going to have to give it a go too. Thank you so much for the rating.
Comment: Received the project. I can't believe I got this one again. So much fun to stitch. Thanks for the stamped images.
Response: Its funny how we keep getting the same ones. I also just stitched one I had stitched before, and then the one I received for #19 is one I have also stitched before! But its good to keep finding inspiration. Thank you for the lovely rating.
Comment: Thank you so much for your lovely Mail Art PC interpretation! I like how you used a collage, which is also my favourite style. I hope the warm weather comes soon for us, too! Happy swapping. (｡◕‿‿◕｡)
Response: Thank you - I tend to stick with collage to hide my inability to draw! I really enjoyed doing this though - it was fun to interpret something in my own way. Thank you for the lovely rating.
Comment: It arrived safely! I made a cup of coffee, curled up on the couch with a warm blanket and red your journal cover to cover. Awesome job! I enjoyed looking at the different magazines you used. favorite page: The Happy Wedding!
Response: I really liked that one too. It was such fun flicking through magazines and seeing what kind of things came to mind with various pictures and articles. Once again, thank you so much for taking part and putting so much effort in. It has been such a pleasure.
Comment: Nancy, what a beautiful journal page! It is the absolute perfect start to my journal, and i am so happy that it came from you. I love the cute stickers on the back too!
Response: I am a bit of a unicorn fan anyway, so it was really fun putting this together. I can't wait for the next pages - it is going to make for a gorgeous journal. Thank you so much for the rating xx
Comment: Thank you so much, it's fantastic! I love the personal notion, that part of the series was your favourite book as a child, I'm sure, it must be really special and will read a few of the tales tonight. :) Thank you!
Response: I am sure you'll enjoy them. Look out for all of the others too - they are a beautiful collection. Thank you for the lovely rating and it is always fabulous swapping with you.
Comment: Thank you for your little package of a beautiful heart key chain and post it notes. As usual you are a very thoughtful and generous swapper =D! Congratulations on your big news too! I am so very jealous. I hope all goes well for you. I also hope your little one is not put off too much when it comes to sharing attention as siblings can be so jealous when a new member arrives...lol
Response: It is one of my biggest worries, Bonnie, so already we are trying to prepare him that he is going to have to share Mummy's attention. I am sure he'll cope but part of me feels very guilty! I am really glad to see you back swapping and thank you for the lovely rating. Sending my love to you. xx
Comment: Nancy...awesome hat! Love it. It is a perfect fit. Congrats on your little one.
Response: I am so glad - I really was worried it might be a bit small. I thoroughly enjoyed knitting it though - that yarn is one of my favourite accidental purchases of 2013! Thank you again for the lovely rating.
Comment: Really enjoyed your insightful commentary on the books you read. Quality definitely beat quantity.
Response: Thank you so much for your lovely comments. I am determined to read a bit more this quarter but I will still try to keep the same level of commentary. Thank you for the rating and the heart and I hope to swap with you soon.
Comment: I am very sorry for taking so long to rate! I had to take some time away for personal reasons and I just discovered a stack of envelopes that I forgot to rate.
Hope you had a wonderful holiday season!!
Response: Thank you so much for rating though, I really appreciate it. I hope you had a great holiday season as well and I look forward to swapping with you in 2014.
Comment: You hit it out of the park with these two! Superb recommendations; thanks so much! :D
Response: My pleasure! I love doing this swap - it forces me to scan my bookshelves trying to think what my partners might like. I'm glad they hit the mark! Thank you so much for the rating and the heart.
Comment: Thank you so much for your log. I'm sorry you had to slow down with your reading. I agree with you about Patterson, being the same and predictable. I usually read him when I need something quick. I really only like his Michael Bennett and Private series, and the stuff he writes with Chris Grabenstein & Marshall Karp, two authors I enjoy.
Response: I have so much Patterson but I feel guilty about giving it away without reading it. But each book only takes me about 5 hours to read (and I am a pretty slow reader) so I am sure I'll get through them. Thank you so much for the rating and the heart xx
Comment: Hi Nancy, What a beautiful set of potholders you send me! I love them. Great knitting job. Wishing you a wonderful 2014.
Response: They were quite a challenge for me, but I really think I had the hang of double knitting by the end. Happy 2014 and I really look forward to knitting with you as the year goes on. Thank you for the lovely rating.
Comment: Hi Nancy, sorry to rate late I was going through all the cards send to me and I found your lovely Christmas card that your sent...It has been hanging in my home all this time during Christmas.
I hope you had a great start your New year!
Response: I am so glad you received it. I know post can so easily get lost over Christmas so it is great to know it got to you. Happy new year and thank you for the lovely rating.
Comment: I love love love the little gingerbread man! He looks so cute on our tree.
Response: I am so glad he arrived safely. I have to admit, when he was done it was quite hard to let go of him! I am thrilled you loved him and I really hope you had a fabulous Christmas. Thank you so much for the rating.
Comment: Thanks for mailing on time. I have been thinking about reading the Kate A,book life after life. BTW Patterson doesnt write his own books anymore. He outlines an idea, and someone else writes it, and sometimes they get second billing. I saw a news show about him maybe it was 20/20.
Response: All the more reason for me not to like him that much! I hope you enjoy Life After Life if you get the chance to read it - it is a really interesting premise. Thank you for the lovely rating and happy reading for 2014.
Comment: Hi Nancy! Thank you for the lovely holiday card and the stickers! Things here are super crazy but I still plan on getting a letter out to you, I have some time over Christmas and am hoping to get to my letters.
Response: It's absolutely fine - I know what you mean - I too am incredibly behind on my letters. It will be wonderful to hear from you whenever you get the chance - it doesn't matter how long it takes. have a fabulous Christmas and thank you so much for the lovely rating.
Comment: Wow! What a wonderful package! You did so much work. We picked up the package and I was opening it in the car. When my husband saw the knitted potholder, he was amazed. He said it was too pretty to use as one, we had to preserve it. And I love the cross stitch cards and especially the scissors and fob. Happy Christmas!
Response: I am so thrilled you liked everything. The Fair Isle knit was quite a challenge for me - so much so, I asked for a book on Fair Isle knitting for Christmas so I can improve! I hope you had a fantastic Christmas and thank you for the rating and the heart.
Comment: thankyou for the lovely hand made card I'll change places with you we miss the cold winter nights and the cold Xmas especially if it snows on Xmas morning ,, I still can't get used to the hot Xmas over here after 43 years take care and have a safe Xmas ........
Response: Isn't it funny how we yearn for what we grew up with, and it will never be the same otherwise! I hope you do have a really lovely Christmas. I will send you over a big parcel of cold if you will send me some warm. All the best to you and your family and thank you so much for the rating and the heart.
Comment: Nancy, I have to confess to being really naughty and opening my gift. The duckling is extremely handsome, and I love the candle and holder. I am going to look up that story! Thank you yet again for a wonderful gift.
Response: You're so naughty! Not really! I am so glad you liked them. The duckling wasn't exactly 'Ugly' but actually my 2 year old son picked him out for you so I couldn't say no. I am glad you like the candle and holder as well - the story is really lovely. Happy Christmas, Zoe and I am so looking forward to swapping with you next year.
Comment: Thank you so much for the amazing journal! It's visible that a lot of work went into it (and I know, what a lot means in this case, as I've spent *so* many hours working on mine :D) and I'm looking forward to reading it all. I haven't ahd time yet, so I just skipped through it a little, but it looks fab. Thank you!
Response: I really hope you enjoy reading it and perhaps get some ideas for other books to read. I thoroughly enjoyed doing the "Favourite Author" pages - they forced me to look up other books and add to my ever growing TBR pile. Thank you for the rating and the heart and happy Christmas.
Comment: Thank you for the beautiful page, I love all the stuff you added! The stickers will come in handy too :)
Response: Thank you for your lovely comments. It was quite challenging for me as I am so new to art pages, but I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to doing more. Thank you also for the rating and the heart.
Comment: Thanks for your book club paper. I like the Harry Potter novels, bur I'm not sure that I want to read her other novels. The Cuckoo's Calling sounds more interesting than the Casual Vacancy
Response: It is completely different - I think she's a really versatile writer. I know a lot of people didn't like The Casual Vacancy, but I think The Cuckoo's calling is different again. Thank you again for the lovely rating xx
Comment: Nancy, what a beautiful package. The cards and lettersets are so pretty, I love the notebook, the pencils will come in very handy as I am always losing them! My favourite thing though is the necklace and earring set. It is so delicate and beautiful. I am going out later and will be wearing it. I wish I could give a hundred hearts.
Response: I am always nervous with jewellery, as it can be such a personal thing, but I loved that set too so I am thrilled we have similar tastes. Thank you again - I love swapping with you and I hope we can do plenty more of it xxxx
Comment: Oh, Nancy, my heart aches for you. I would be happy to write back to you if you would like to message me with your address. Are you on Facebook? There's a support group based here in Dallas with a private support group page on FB. It's nice to chat with other moms who have experienced loss. If you would like the info, let me know. Hugs!
Response: Thank you so much for your lovely comments. I would love to hear back from you. I am on FB - it would be good to know I am not alone. I'll PM you my address. Thank you also for the rating xx
Comment: WOW I love the socks... I wonder if i can sneak them into work and where them on cold days? Probably not. But I can use the hot chocolate at my desk! Thank you so much. I also love the coaster, it is really beautiful ! thank you!
Response: They're lovely and fluffy, aren't they! I was so pleased when I found them for you. Thank you for the lovely comments and rating. Have a wonderful Christmas.
Comment: i loved my tea pot cosy and cup warmer i have a tea for one pot and cup and it fits great love it thanks and i love the little cross stitch as well i will enjoy doing that thanks again xx im giving you 2x hearts xx
Response: I am so glad you have just the teapot for it! I was so worried because it was just so diddy. Thank you so much for the lovely rating and the heart and I hope we can swap together again soon.
Comment: Thank your for the colorful HOPE page. It will be a welcome addition to my journal. And thanks for the extra papers and stickers. I can't believe how fast your swap got here. (But it did get pretty abused during it's travels---3 of the edges of the envie were ripped open in spots.)
Response: Oh dear :-( I must remember to tape up all of the edges. I am sorry it was damaged - I hope everything in the envelope was still OK? I am also stunned how quickly it arrived. I am glad you liked it though - It was my first attempt at art journalling, but won't be my last. Thank you for the lovely rating.
Comment: Thank you! I don't know if I like the note stuff more (notecards, pens, notebook) or the writing sheets and insert from the Guardian. I love all of it, thank you very, very much :)
Response: I am so glad! I actually got some great tips out of that Guardian article, although it is definitely taking me longer to write a novel than they said. Thank you for the rating and the heart xx
Comment: Thank you for the lovely headband! The flower looks great. Maybe this would be a nice swap in your new group.....? The stamps were not cancelled, would you like them back?
Response: I am glad you like it! I thought that something like this in the new group would work as it is relatively quick to knit? I thoroughly enjoyed making it and have learnt a lot from it (as I do every new thing I knit). I am surprised they haven't cancelled the stamps!? Of course, if you get the chance to send them back, although do keep them if you'd like. Thank you for the rating and I hope we can swap more knitted stuff together soon.
Response: I saw that you have already had this sampler, but I guess that is going to happen. I hope the additions since you last stitched it can inspire you to do more. Thank you for the rating and I'm sure we'll swap together very soon.
Comment: You really went all out for this swap! I love the scarf is beautiful, the halloween lights are amazing and the mushroom stationary is awesome. All of the elements of this package are so perfectly on theme and really show that you read my profile and sent things I would like! Thank you so much for a great package!
Response: It was my pleasure. I am so glad you liked the scarf - I just wasn't sure so I had taken it out and put it back in several times. Thank you for taking part and thank you for the lovely rating. I'll hope we can swap again soon.
Comment: I cannot explain how much I love the atc you made me, it is amazing, thank you so so much, and thanm you for the handmade envie and the extras as well. It is always a pleasure swapping with you :-) :-)
Response: I am so glad! I loved the book so much that the hardest thing I had was deciding what aspects of it to add to the ATC. Thank you for hosting the swap and thank you so much for your kind words and rating. The feeling is mutual :-)
Comment: I too was stumped on this one and also decided to do Clarity. That is too funny! In addition, thank you so much for the book! You did not have to do that and believe it or not, I have not read Treasure Island. I look forward to reading it! There was a round robin #14 note in there. Should that be there?
Response: Hmmm - no, I don't think so! I am so glad you haven't read it though. It was the least I could do for you after our last swap together.
Comment: Hi Nancy! I absolutely loved reading your log! I haven't read any of the books on your list before but I do have 'The Night Circus' and 'Gone Girl' on my shelf so I'm glad that you rated them so highly! I am also intrigued by the books that you gave 4's too, they certainly sound interesting...we must have similar reading tastes! I agree that I also read a lot more books for the reading log! I am also tempted to sign up for the next one, even though it will only be my uni books that I will have chance to read with studying literature!
Response: Don't worry, I too am going to have quite a lot of Uni books next quarter. Just started Joyce's The Dubliners last night, and I also have Foster Wallace and Rushdie to read this semester. It would be great to see what you have to read for your course too! Thank you for the rating and the heart and definitely give The Night Circus a try - I think you'll love it.
Comment: So very sorry about the late rating....I thought I had rated before taking my leave of absence from Swap-Bot. It is an awesome piece and I really appreciate the time and effort put into it. I already incorporated it into a project I have been working on. Thank you so much!
Response: That's OK - I don't mind at all. I hope you're alright and I really look forward to doing more cross-stitch swaps with you. I am really glad you liked it and I am so glad you have used it already! Thank you for the rating and the heart.
Comment: Thanks for the lovely swap, and the extras. I'm going to make some envelopes tomorrow with the paper :)
Response: I would love to see the look on the postman's face when you use the pretty pink ones! I love that paper - so I am really glad you'll be able to use it. Thank you for the rating and the heart.
Comment: Thank you for my wonderful letter and lovely kitty stickers ^ ^ Loved hearing about your day. I did a BSc in Psychosocial Sciences, so I feel your pain. If you'd like to be penpals do let me know and I'll write back to you :) Hugs xx
Response: I'd love to hear back from you! I always love chatting with fellow 'cat ladies'. Thank you so much for the rating and the heart.
Response: My pleasure - I hope you get good use out of all the stitchy bits. And thank you for doing the Quick cross-stitch swaps. I know they aren't always the busiest, but it is great to swap stitching stash. Thank you for the rating and the heart.
Comment: Thank you for the kit. I really like that pattern. It will take me a while to start on it, since I usually think I have way more time than I really do and have many, many projects waiting :-).
Response: I am exactly the same! I just wish I had more time! Hopefully the inspiration will come upon you and you know you at least have ta few bits to get you started. Thank you for the rating and the heart
Comment: Nancy this was a wonderful letter filled with fantastic detail about the stories you had read. Thank you so much for the detail you put in and I will definitely look out for them to read myself.
Response: I am really glad you enjoyed it and I hope you enjoyed the swap. I'm planning on doing another one soon. Thank you so much for taking part and also for the rating and the heart.
Comment: Thanks again for another wonderful swap from you. Glad you got two books in that you wanted to read! :) Hope you are able to make an easy choice on the Sept selection! :)
Response: I have now made my September choice - I think! I suspect it will be at least 2 again. I love the book club as it is getting me reading things I have always wanted to. Thanks again for being a fab swapper and for the rating and heart.
Comment: Thank you so much for (another) long letter. I felt sorry for you when I saw that you had to write it to me. But you did a good job. I will answer both letters. We are now having holidays. we should go to Sicily, but because on my kneeproblem we cancelled that. We stay in NL and visit some museums here. After that I will have time to write. So nice, there are things that compare and things that are opposite. I'll write about it.
Response: I didn't mind writing to you again at all - in fact, I think it made it more of a challenge. I am sorry you had to cancel your holiday, but do enjoy your 'holiday at home'. It will be great to hear back from you when you get the chance. Thank you also for the rating and the heart.
Comment: I love your doodle, it is great and I secretly wish it was in my journal.
Response: Hopefully I'll get your journal during one of the swaps and I can do one for you too! It's about the limit of my drawing skills so I am so glad you liked it. Thank you for the rating and the heart.
Comment: Dear Nancy!
Yesterday your letters arrived!
And what can I say? It is that rare case when I get the LETTER, not just an envelope with some stuff and short note, but interesting story which I read today in the train.
Thank you very much dear friend!
I`ll write you back soon!
Response: I am so glad it finally arrived! And I am so glad you enjoyed it - it really made me think back to when I studied that period and how much I enjoyed it. I am already looking forward to hearing back from you and thank you for the rating and the heart.
Comment: I did get your bookmark but forgot to rate for it! Sorry! I love it, thank you, I've packed it with all my other bookmarks ready to come with us.
I thought I'd rated because I rated my other partner for this swap but forgot to rate you!
Response: That's absolutely fine - you're going through major upheaval at the moment so I fully understand. Thank you so much for the rating and once again, good luck with the move. xx
Comment: I have not ever read a book by Kate Atkinson, I have one book on my To Be Read bookshelf but it is book 2 in a series so I will need to obtain and read book 1 first
One Good Turn (Jackson Brodie, Bk 2) :: Kate Atkinson Thank you. Your letter did entice me to look into this book and author and push the one book I own higher on my TBR list.
Response: I have read the first Jackson Brodie book and it was very good. If you like her prose style, you'll really enjoy all she has written. Thank you for the rating and the heart!
Comment: Thank you very much for your lovely ATCs and the extras. I enjoy making flower themed ATCs a lot as well. I really like the background paper with the tiny flowers that you used. Is that a sort of vellum?
Response: It is vellum, yes. I have a few sheets of it but it is hard to know where to use it. But I thought the flowers were so delicate it seemed perfect for an ATC. Thank you for the rating and the heart.
Comment: Wow your postcard is great! I love how different handmade postcards can be. Only 1 embellishment was remaining when the PC made it to my mailbox unfortunately. I'm excited to swap with you again! :)
Response: :-( How disappointing! But lesson learnt - it is definitely a challenge to make as beautiful a postcard as possible which isn't going to get damaged in the post. Thank you so much for the rating and for swapping with me!
Comment: Thank you so much for your amazing letter. It literally made my day. I have been quite down recently and it filled me with warm emotions due to your good energy :). I will be replying soon. I don't know if I'll be typing or writing because recently my hands are a bit shaky and my handwriting gets harder and harder to read. I will wait and see if it gets better by tomorrow because I can't wait to send you my reply :). Again, thank you for the amazing letter! Also thank you for the tea and bookmark! I love this kind of tea but I never tried this particular flavour before :). The bookmark is also amazing and I'll be using it for the book I'm starting to read soon! I hope it'll make the book more interesting ;).
Response: I am so glad you liked it. A typed letter is absolutely fine, I really don't mind either way. Enjoy the tea as well - it is one of my favourite flavours. I am really looking forward to hearing back from you. Thank you so much for the rating and the heart. x
Comment: Thanks for the with your July book list:) I think based on your iffy review of the diagnosis i probably wouldnt read it, it sounds interesting, but i dunno. flowers for the judge sounds really good, i may have to check that one out.
Response: Completely unimpressed by Alan Lightman. He's written quite a lot so maybe his other books are better...but I'm not holding any hope out. Thank you again for the rating.
Comment: Thank you for the lovely post card:) Did you finish gone girl? I read that a while ago and fell in love with it. I wasn't expecting the twist though, I think because i wasn't paying attention to the popularity and reviews LOL
Response: I have finished it. I was so impressed by her as an author. I've heard her other books are just as good, so they are now on my 'list'. Thank you for the rating.
Comment: Hi Nancy, thank you so much for this swap and all the goodies you included. I love everything you made (and I also feel bad about getting the idea of a notecard wrong), it's so pretty! It was spot on. Thanks again!
Response: Don't feel bad at all! I really love what you made - it is going to go perfectly in my smash book. I think it was properly open to interpretation. I am so glad you liked the set I made for you and thank you for the rating and the heart.
Comment: What a beautiful creation! Wish I could give more hearts. Thank you so much and for the lovely note too. I am definitely not tired of your creations and love having you for a partner. Happy Friday and happy swapping!
Response: Likewise! And thank you so much for the kind comments. I always try to sneak a button on your ATCs wherever I can...
Comment: Gorgeous ATC and features nicely on its page in my album. Thank you for reminding me that I hadn't rated - I couldn't figure out which swap, because this one having 3 partners, I needed to scroll down, which I didn't do. >.<
Thank you and happy swapping.
Response: That's absolutely fine, I don't mind at all. I am glad you liked it and I am really looking forward to swapping with you again soon. Thank you for the rating xx
Comment: Beautiful and relaxing! What, you mean you have a life during the weekends other than cross stitching?!? Lol j/k. Thanks so much, and thanks for joining! Thanks also for your patience with my slow rating time
Response: No problems at all on the rating time - as long as you got it. I am so glad you liked it. I have got quite ambitious with some of the cross stitch swaps here, but as soon as I see the theme I usually have something in mind to stitch immediately.
Comment: I just got your letter today (I've been away from home for a couple of days!) I really liked what you wrote so I will reply soon! I can't believe you're doing an MA, an OU Course, have a toddler and still find time for crafting! My life is nowhere near that hectic and sometimes I don't find the time!
Response: I can't say I always find the time either, but it doesn't stop me trying! Thank you so much for the rating and the heart.
Comment: Thanks for the lovely little zine. I particularly liked your flash fiction. I love to write, but most of mine is too long to fit in a mini zine. I hope I get see more of your zines! The card was really cool, by the way. Thanks for the maltesers, too! I think I have a new favorite. ;)
Response: Flash fiction is great for writing discipline! I love the maltesers drink too. I have one shop I know I can get it every time so I keep a stock of it. Thank you for the rating and the heart.
Comment: Beautiful - are you sure you haven't made one before because this was outstanding! Thank you, I feel privileged to own it :-)
Response: Wow, thank you for your wonderful comments. I am so touched! I really enjoyed making it and I will definitely be doing more zine swaps in the future. Thank you so much for the rating and the heart.
Response: My pleasure, I am glad you liked it. I have to say I wasn't too upset about cutting up that particular cover! I think I have three copies of the book in the house. Thank you so much for the rating and the heart.
Comment: Thanks for your list! Like you, I found this much easier than the recommendations swap. I've read a couple on your favorites list, and a couple on your to-read list. I'm looking forward to seeing what the book club is like
Response: So am I! Let's hope we get to swap our thoughts and expand our reading. Thank you so much for the rating and the heart.
Comment: Thanks for the book recommendations! I know I have odd tastes in books, but I really do like reading out of my comfort zone. I appreciate your suggestions, there are a couple I really want to check out
Response: Let me know how you get on with them. And similarly, I ought to try a few from your reading list, as I had hardly heard of any of them! Thank you for the rating x
Comment: Thanks for the great recommendations. I put them all on my to-read list, but with one on the 'maybe' list, mostly because it's pretty long. ;)
Response: Very good decision - I tend to get caught up with 'tomes' and they slow me down such a lot. But do let me know how you get on with them all, I would love to hear your opinion. Thank you so much for the rating and the heart.
Comment: Thank you for your list! I enjoyed reading it :) Don't feel ashamed, I've just finished my degree in English Literature and I haven't read Lady Chatterly's lover yet either! 'On Writing' is also on my shelf but not quite on my list yet (I have a long one like you!) and by strange coincidence I'm not all that far from the Dales of Phinn's book! I haven't been caught up in the Game of Thrones hype yet, just debating whether or not to give it a go...
Response: I fear that if you decide to, you've got 7 massive tomes to get through...I'm already wondering if it is a good idea. I'll let you know what Lady Chatterley is like. Thank you so much for the rating and the heart xx
Comment: oh my dear nancy.. thank you for the journal! everything is perfect!! i love it!!! the size.. also the paper super thick.. thanks for decorating it =D it arrived soo fast thou.. actually i got it yesterday but i wasn't able to connect to the internet.. need to show you something. i will send you an email.. i sent yours a day before.. mine is simpler but i hope you like it too.. ;) hugs, Kelly
Response: I am sure I will love it. I hope you get it filled with all of your upcoming travel adventures. I'm glad it arrived so quickly! xxx
Comment: Thank you. I have actually read all of the Bronte sisters works. They are hard to read in parts because of all the French that they use. From what I can remember I think that I thought Heathcliffe was not a very nice person and that Cathy was very lack luster. I will have to re-read it sometime soon and let you know though. I love the book mark that you made. It is awesome. I love the clever comment that you wrote in the front of the book too.
Response: I am so sorry I sent you something you had already read. I wish I had known! I do hope you get a chance to read it again although I am glad you agree with me on the characters. I feel like I am not the only one then! Thank you for the rating and I hope we get another chance to swap so I can do better next time.
Comment: I love the teddybear and hug sign on the ATC you sent me, so cute and cuddly. Thank-you for the extras, I love them and not a problem re combining to save on postage, anytime Nancy. I hope you are enjoying your Summer. Marion (Mak)
Response: I'm glad you liked them. I loved the teddy bear as well. Yes, we are finally getting hot weather here...it feels just like home! Thank you for the rating and the heart.
Comment: Thanks for your June Reading Log Nancy. I'm glad you were able to read more books. I definitely don't think the YA you read should be what you base YA on. There's some good stuff out there. Don't give up on it. :)
Response: I would like to think so - I was pretty disappointed with that one! Thank you for the rating x
Comment: Hiya Nancy,
Thank you so much for your reading log, I'm so jealous of your involvement in a book group, I'd love to join one to extend my reading and to stretch what i read. Your variety of reads is impressive, thank you for sharing with me : )
Response: There are online ones too which are also good, although meeting with a group of people really ensures you actually read the book! Thank you so much for the rating and the heart.
Comment: i really enjoyed reading your reading log. i loved your honesty and felt like i was chatting with a friend at book club. i have been considering wuthering heights and agree with you that these swaps encourage me to read more! cheers xo
Response: That's really wonderful to hear and I hope we can swap more book ideas soon. Thank you so much for the heart!
Comment: Thank you so much for the cute ATC! I love how you used the book page behind each of the flowers. I have a problem with using books for crafts, too, but I found a book that had the first 260 pages missing with a completely intact cover and decided that it was giving itself up for the good of the crafting world. Lol. Thank you for the super cute sequins, too. The cow and elephant ones are so unique and adorable!
Response: I have found that now I have got over my aversion to cutting up specific books, it is a really lovely material to use for crafting. I hope we get to swap in a few more together! Thank you so much for the rating and the heart.
Comment: I'm afraid the only book I've read from the list is the first one, To Kill A Mockingbird, but now I have some more authors to go discover. (: And I loved all your original lines, I can't even pick a favorite. Thank you for the extra bookmark as well, it is adorable. Thank you for swapping! (:
Response: Thank you for the rating and the heart and for being a part of the swap. I am so glad you enjoyed them!
Comment: Three wonderful atcs I love them all the horse is gorgeous love the background and all elements ... Summer fun is just that !! Made me smile the vintage trapeze ... Love love it... What a super swap (the royal stamp on the envelope was great) thank you so much
Response: I am so glad you liked them! I loved the horse one too - it was quite difficult to give that one away :-) Thank you so much for the rating and the heart.
Comment: Thank you for the great postcard Nancy. I have visited Adelaide once and I liked it. I hope you get back there soon, I hope your cats are okay! I miss Australia and am very proud to call it my home. :)
Response: You can take the girl out of Australia, but you can never take Australia out of the girl! Thank you so much for the rating and the heart.
Comment: Thanks for the great card! I read 'To Kill a Mockingbird' back in high school and I need to reread it soon. I don't think at the tender age of 15 I really understood the whole book like I was supposed to. Happy Swapping and thanks for joining!
Response: I would highly recommend giving it another try. I was so impressed by it. Thank you for organising and thank you for the rating and heart.
Comment: Lovely letter! I enjoyed reading it. Thanks for reading my profile too! I may reply as you requested when I get time. If you really want me to and I forget, feel free to remind me. As for one of the points in your letter, if I think someone did a super amazing job deserving of way more than a heart, I usually leave a message on their profile along with leaving a very awesome comment in the ratings. Hope that helps. And while it is up to you, for an intensive swap, you so have the option to specify that you cannot angel or that it might take you a while to do so. They can always search for an angel in th forums. Have a great day!
Response: Thank you so much for the help and advice! It is good to learn from others. I am hoping to make sure that I won't set up a swap I can't angel but I hadn't realised people could go to the forums to do so. Thank you so much for the heart as well.
Comment: I love my bookmarks, Nancy! I'm adding most of your read books to my "to read" pile! Isn't is sad how so many tangible things are being disregarded for digital? I'm no stranger to electronics but there are some things that should never be forgotten; writing and reading an actual book being but a couple. :) Thanks again!
Response: I totally agree. I am so glad you liked the bookmarks, and do let me know how you go if you do read any of the books. I'd love to hear what you think of them. Thank you for the heart.
Comment: Thank you for your thoughts on your book of choice, Dracula. My husband has assured me I wouldn't like it, but I enjoy hearing others thoughts about any books they read. :)
Oh, I'm sooooooooo sorry! I wrote above the day I got your swap, but I totally didn't click on a number. I'm soooooo sorry about that!!
Response: That's absolutely fine! And it shows how open minded you are in that you enjoy reading others' thoughts, even for a book you might not like. I'm curious though as to why he said you wouldn't like it - although he probably knows you very well :-)
Comment: Thank you for your reading log. :) I am on a few groups at GRs, I'll look into the group you mentioned. If you'd like, I can send you my reading lists the last month or two. I do read, a lot. :)
Response: I'd love to read them! Do have a look at the group - I think you'll enjoy it.
Comment: Nancy, thank you for your interesting list. I've read a couple of books by Hilary Mantel - she is a very good author and I enjoy her work. I also love the work of Jean Rhys - she is one of my favourite authors so I'm glad you enjoyed her book.
Response: I had only really heard of Wide Sargasso Sea, so that book was really unexpected, and beautifully written. Thank you for the heart.
Comment: What a lovely envie you sent! Dragons certainly are lucky and the fact that you found a button dragon, is just BRILLIANT! ♥ I love the other buttons too. Thank you so much for making my day. ♥
Response: My pleasure, Donna - I hope he brings you lots of luck! Thank you for the rating and the heart.
Comment: i got your lovely letter today.. how amazing is a little yellow envie can brighten my day =) write you back asap today, as i have lots of news to tell you =) btw do you mind if i combine the your country from your eyes letter together with my reply to you?
Response: I think combining them would be a great idea - definitely save on postage where you can. I'm really looking forward to hearing back from you. x
Comment: Hi there. Thanks for your lovely letter. The competition went well...we did not win(!) because we were against very good young teams...but we did it, no-one fell over and I did all the tricky steps!
I love your ATC thanks you very much
Response: Congratulations! What a super pastime! I am glad you like the ATC thank you so much for the heart.
Comment: Got my bookmarks today! Thank you so much. I love the butterfly one best but the button one is purrrrfect for my crafty books. I've got seven books on the go right now, so I probably need some more bookmarks!! ^.^
Response: I am glad you liked them. I hoped you would like the button one for your craft books. Glad also to hear you are a multiple-book-at-a-time reader too. It makes me feel better!
Comment: Aww so cute! You're Slams are so nice I thought, I wanna keep them, haha. This is my first swap for making and swapping slams, too. But I think you did great :D ~* I will send them back out on the next slam swap <3
Response: Thank you! It will be great to get them back. And thank you so much for the heart.
Comment: Hi Nancy! Thank you for a wonderful package! Haha don't be pressured about choosing what to send to me at all ! I love love love everything =) Say Hi to your partner for me! Tell him I love Malacca food! You should come over to Malaysia for a visit one day!
Response: We definitely will. He keeps talking about how beautiful it is so I want to see for myself. I am so glad you liked everything and it all arrived safely. Thank you for the heart.
Comment: Thank you for your letter and the picture of your 4 cats - I enjoyed reading about Dizzy, Narla, Iggy & Joey, and their personalities. We have a quirky tortoiseshell named "Coo" - she's very small too, for being 6 years old. Thank you also for the neat notebook with the close-up cat's face. Enjoy the day!
Response: Glad you enjoyed it. It's morning here now and all four of them are circling outside the room here crying for their breakfast!
Comment: It's a rather dreary day here in central NY, but receiving your letter has made it much better. I'd love to send you one in return! Thank you for the lovely bookmark. It's beautiful, and definitely not too wrinkled.
Response: Wonderful! I so look forward to receiving it and I am so glad it brightened your day.
Comment: Love your choices! I do actually own a couple of these books ("The Historian" and "The Other Boleyn Girl"), but I have such a huge backlog of reading to do I haven't gotten to them yet. But I definitely will.
Response: I know how you feel about backlogs, but when you do get a chance to get to these, I think you'll love them.
Comment: Thank you for your British horse post card. I have only ridden a horse 3 times...once in Canada and two times on different vacations to Costa Rica. I have never been to Britain as I usually travel to Central and South America.
Response: I am glad you like it - it is a very British picture!
Comment: Thank you for the lovely postcard! I love cats :) In answer to your questions: smaller projects, charts (in magazines) or small kits, and 1 at a time. I don't have the patience to do anything big! (cross stitcher is my fave mag for patterns)
Response: I am addicted to cross stitch magazines myself, so I fully understand! Well done for only doing 1 at a time though...I am dreadful for starting new projects.
Comment: Loved the card -Thank You Ever So Much! Old photos are great -like going back in time. I love to see things and try to imagine what it might have been like. Thanks for the great black 'n white! Take Care & Happy Swapping!
Response: I am glad you liked it. I love old postcards as well x
Comment: Thank you for the best Friendship Book ever =) Honestly I have never seen such a well crafted FB it is so beautiful. Now as you know with some traveling swaps, someone along the way decides to just keep it for themselves. So with how beautiful your FB is I fear someone in the course of my FB travels might decide to keep it. That is how nice it is =). Thank you for this awesome creation.
Response: Wow, I am so touched! I do hope you manage to fill it though. It was lots of fun making it and thank you for introducing me to the fantastic world of FBs!
