Comment: Wow, a very cool vintage card. I like it a lot! I've never been to the Grand Canyon either, but I'd love to go. Thank you for a great postcard!
Response: I'm glad you like it! I got it in a small ziplock w/ other vintage postcard at that antique shop. I found some really neat postcards that I've smashbooked since it's so awesomely retro! I think it's so amazing how some postcards are so much older than I am lol. Anyway, I picked the postcard especially for you since you're into vintage photography :) Photography definitely has gone a long ways!
Comment: I loved the washi you sent, they are all new to me and some became my favorites as well. :). Thank you for the post its too. I visit your "exotic" land 5 days a week...lol....for work. Thanks again!!!
Response: I'm so glad you like it! The clouds one are my total favorite. A postcard I saw at Raygun that says, "Hello from exotic Iowa" with a beach background inspired me to call my land exotic lol.
Comment: Thank you so much for this awesome postcard and your message! I had to google "Okonomiyaki", and then discovered that we have a restaurant that specializes in it in Seattle! Definitely added to my "must do" list. :) xo
Comment: I love your bright colorful pages. What a fun Valentines you had. Great thing to do with the hubby! I love that you love yourself first. That is soooo important! You are so cool! Thanks for sharing your life with ME!
Response: You are too kind :) Your generous comments in rating my smashbook page swaps never fail to make my day. Being kinder to myself is something that I've really been working on, so although I was hesitant at first in doing a Valentine's day page to myself, I was really good to just see all of that on paper. I really do like color: life is so boring without it! Happy smashing and swapping <3
Comment: Thank you for the adorable owl notecard, I won't be sending it away for awhile so I can enjoy it. More owl paper, awesome! Loved your March envelope. I just finished making a bunch of envelopes & ATC sleeves out of old calendars.
Response: Not a problem! It was like you were my penpal for the week. Isn't it strange how we can have an attachment to pretty things? I used to be like that with my paper stash, but thought it would be much better if I can make other people happy with the things I make with paper. Happy swapping! :)
Comment: Thank you so much for the Modern Starry Night ATC, I think you did a fantastic job of using the oil pastels on the magazine picture. It will be a treasured part of my ATC collection. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Have a friend I can use the chocolate images for. Very thoughtful
Response: I'm so glad you like the ATC. I will be making a version 2.0 of Modern Starry Night from the things I learned about oil pastel in creating your ATC, so I'm excited for that!
Comment: Thank you so much for the greate buttons, I don't have any those colors! I also love, love, love the owl papers. Don't think I want to part with those so I will make something out of them to display in my craft room. The ATC backs, ATC papers and flamingo postcard are very nice, too. I have never been to Florida, would love to go to Disney World. We always take our vacation to Sturgis for bike week. I love key lime pie, too!
Response: Glad you liked it! And thanks for giving the owl cardstock a good home! :)
Comment: This one definitely made me chuckle. We're mostly vanilla in the bedroom as well…kink is an entirely different arena. ;) Thanks for the laugh!
Response: I read your profile before going through my postcard book. When I saw the postcard, I immediately thought, "This would be perfect for her!" I wouldn't know any other occasion to send that postcard to anyone else lol!!! I'm so glad it make you laugh! :) And remember: you are awesome :D
Comment: Thank you so much for the teas!! The Pu-erh sounds interesting! But I am excited to try it! Haha. And this is a Lipton family, so I was excited about those! :D I also want to thank you so much for the vintage postcard! Amazing!! :D Happy Swapping!
Response: Pu-erh is definitely an interesting tea. I think of it as like wine: people can have an acquired taste for it. It's definitely good to try new things though, but that's my philosophy. I'm so glad you got the tea. :) Enjoy!
Comment: Thanks so much, Your Atc made me laugh. Right now my husband is working on the expansion project of the 405 and it's been a complete nightmare that never seems to end! So we can all relate. A complete waste of our tax dollars as they lay down asphalt and cement to only rip it up later as the engineers are off by half a foot, or the lawsuits for messing up peoples views, they start tearing out the retaining walls. The project is a year and a half over due and the main contracting company is being fined daily, but they don't seem too concerned. My husband's working nights, days or not at all as the company runs late, cancels or takes time off. (ends rant here) So you totally nailed the perfect card for me, as you can tell. Gotta laugh cause banging my head against a wall will only hurt! LOL On my favorite wine that's a tough one. I have a lot of favs. What I always suggest is to drink all wine at room temp, because thats the only way to really taste it. If it's cold it hides a lot of the components. (unless it's cheap, then you want to skip over some of the roughness) Hugs Dawny
Response: I'm sooo glad you like the ATC! When I made it, I thought only an LA person would understand this and luckily, you were my swap partner. Yay!
The 405 expansion is news to me, but the progress towards the expansion sounds horrendous! I'm from the SGV and when we saw the 10 being expanded, we thought it'll make things better....but it became a pay lane, which made me raise my eyebrow. Although I miss the sunshine and food in LA (I am really hating snow right now), the commute is something I really don't miss.. especially if you get into a car accident, you have to deal with people staring you down for causing traffic in addition to dealing with a broken car. Laughing it off is definitely good :)
Thank you so much for the wine tip! I never knew that and I will keep that in mind for future bottles!
Comment: Very nice pages. I wish I had such a big collection of washi tape! Thanks for sharing.
Response: Thank you so much for the compliments! Glad you enjoyed it. I got a set of washi tapes on sale just a couple of months ago and since I have more than enough to spare, I joined a washi tape swap here on swap bot. I like having a variety of washi: it's definitely an affordable way to expand a washi tape collection! Happy swapping! :)
Comment: Love your pages! Hope mine turn out as neat and meaningful! And I love the idea of putting packing tape in your travel journal so you can use your washi tape as you go!
Response: Thanks so much! I'm very out-of-sight-out-of-mind when it comes to my craft supplies, so when I only have washi tape during my travels, it makes it so that I have no choice but to use them. :)
Comment: Came home to an awesome envelope full of goodies from you today! One of the washi tapes will get used in an immediate project. Really loved the extra bits of ephemera, you were right on with the deco paper and the postcard! The card made me laugh! My true love is off fishing and camping and although I miss her already, I probably should have a more "independent" attitude; great funny reminder! Either you are psychic or my profile is quite telling. ;) Thank you!
Response: Your profile is quite telling AND I'm psychic! :P Glad you liked it and glad that this was a good match! It definitely makes life easy when your swap partner has similar interests. :) Enjoy making new things and happy swapping. :)
Comment: Thanks for joining us! You have a unique style. I love it!
Response: Thank you!! I'm so flattered. Will you be hosting a fall series? Please let me know. The last two inspired me to bind the ones I created into a DIY smashbook. I made more pages right after that too!!
Comment: These are fantastic pages! Tuition expense - I've been there - thank goodness for fee waivers! And I love your garden - home-grown food is really good, isn't it? Thanks for sending these over!
Comment: You are a talented girl with a great style. I am so glad that you joined us this round. I love seeing how different people interpret the different themes. I hope you join us for the last round!! I am one of those that love lots of color!!!!
Response: Thank you so much for the nice compliments! I love color a lot: paper, markers, highlighters, post it notes, you name it. I'm so glad you liked it!!!
Comment: Thanks for the card. We went to Kansas 7 or 8 years ago--I remember all the restaurants we ate at were good. I see your postcard was postmarked Cedar Rapids--my husband was born there but family moved when he was 3.
Comment: Regina - your Iowa card is funny and I appreciate it especially because my husband is from Des Moines. We understand the 'middle of nowhere' term. I enjoyed learning about where you used to live and the fact that your friends have no idea where Iowa is. Unfortunately you didn't tell me about our similarities and/or differences. I won't rate you down for that because I got the card you signed up to send but please be careful in the future to read the swap requirements because your next partner might have more rigid rating guidelines in mind.
Response: Oh gosh! My apologies for that oversight! I'm usually really good at meeting requirements. I am so glad that you and your husband enjoyed the card. I definitely appreciate the feedback and will definitely double check swap requirements a little bit more carefully in the future. Happy swapping!
Comment: Love the homemade envie it came in but it arrived with one side looking like it had been cut open so I hope nothing fell out. It took me awhile to figure out what swap this was for as there was no note. Anyway, I love the paper and stickers. Thank you!!
Response: Oh no! I'm so glad that you received the paper and stickers. Please accept my sincere apologies for the inconvenience. I definitely appreciate your feedback and rating..
Comment: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.....etc.... I loved you list. And thank you so much for the pic. I laughed so hard I almost fell off of the couch. Now I just need my SO to wake up to I can show him! I encourage everyone to get into STEM, so I understand where you are coming from, being a science nerd myself. My DH is the math geek. When the internet came about, the first thing I did was demand that my science teacher teach me how to do this programming thing called FORTRAN. :)
Response: Glad you liked it! I didn't see that you are a pirate reenactor on your profile (that is so random lol) so I'm glad you found the picture funny! I hope your SO had a good laugh too! :) Yay! Nerds unite!
Comment: Thank you very much for the fantastic PCs, I love all of them soooo much!!! I have been to Denver airport and the city of Denver a bunch of times, but never been outside the city. I absolutely have to go see the mountains sometime...
Response: Glad you like it! Personally handpicked by me on my travels and I hope you liked the accompanying story with it too. :)
My husband and I stopped by wine country (Vail, CO) when I moved here to Iowa and we saw those huge mountains! No vines on the winery, of course, but I'd imagine it'd be lush in season.
Also, the road trip across Colorado during that time was lovely too with all the snow on the mountains. You must go see it! :)
Comment: No epic story behind my street name, the road I live on is shaped like a skillet when you look at it on a map and well I live in Saltville so a lot of the street names have to do with salt. Sorry to dissapoint. The clippings you sent from the book were great, I'm going to try to make some transfers from them and I can't wait to use them in my collage. Thanks for the great swap!!
Response: Oh darn. It's okay! I am just easily amused. I'm glad the clippings will go to good use! I was rather hesitant in throwing it away. Happy swapping! :)
Comment: Thanks for the card and for joining my swap. How did you make the card?
Response: I made the postcard backing by designing it on MS Publisher.I then printed it on white cardstock. (Coredinations, I think, is the name of the brand) I used paper mod podge to adhere the postcard backing to the photograph and to make it sturdier. This is the third time I've done it like this and it's been working out pretty well. :) Plus, the souvenir shops at LAX were already closed when I flew in the other day. Booo! Good thingI made these in advanced. :) There's MS templates out there for postcards if you are ever interested in trying to make your own. :)
Comment: Thanks so much for your handmade LEGO postcard! It is so cute! Where do you get the photo postcard backings? Such a great idea!!
Response: Yay! Glad you like it. I made the postcard back by printing it out on white cardstock. Then, I used mod podge to adhere the cardstock to the photo paper to make it sturdy.
It's so much easier for me to make a postcard than to find one around my area when I'm not traveling. Plus, I like to make things. :) It's too bad a lot of postcard swaps don't accept handmade ones. Glad there are some that do though. :)
Comment: Great photos! The burger made me hungry! Haha! Also, I laughed at the "Tinga ng Daga." It should actually be tenga. (Tinga is something that's stuck in between the teeth.) I really they were real when I was a kid until I found out they were mushrooms. LOL!
Response: Hah! Up until you wrote it, I really did think it was real rats' ears. LOL i learn something new everyday. That picture was taken at Market, Market in Quezon City, if you wanted to know. :)
Comment: Thnk you for the quickness on getting your swap completed with me :) The kitty you asked about is suppose to be Himalayan, but i see more persian/ragdoll in her in my opinion :D
Take care!! PS thanks for all the extra likes! How nice of you!!!
Comment: Hi Regina! Thanks for the beautiful birthday card. Thanks also for the adorable owl - you did a great job! And I appreciate the link, too.
Response: I'm so glad the owl worked out! I was having such a hard time deciding whether to put a 3rd layer on it...so I just settled with markers. That card is also my 2nd time experimenting with sewing and paper (the 1st was a prototype of that card). I'm so glad you like it! Happy swapping!
Comment: Thank you for the postcard :) i haven't been to Iowa yet but i was in california for a week in 2007. But i can say that it is super busy there and i know what you mean by slower pace of life, i live in the country (kinda) here in texas and it's nice not to be rushing all the time :)
Comment: I didn't like the song at first, but I keep hearing it now and I'm starting too.
Response: Daft Punk isn't a lot of people's cup of tea, but I think with the combination of Pharell's voice, this combo really works. If you are more into Pharell's vocals, one of my favorite songs from him is Frontin' http://youtu.be/zBKMKXVyGvI . Glad you like it! :)
Comment: Thank you for the comment! :) Coffee is my love, haha. Right now drinking it is very limited because of my pregnancy, but after everything gets ''normal'' again, I'm going to go back to 16 cups a day... whoops. :D
