Comment: Thanks for sharing your weekend with me - it sounded beautiful. Enjoy Australia when you come down (Sydney is my favourite place here that I have been too.) Thanks for the wash samples as well - loved them, and did not have any of them. :)
Response: I'm so excited for the Blue Mountains and wombats - you have no idea! I have been told they are very loud at the campground and we won't get much sleep, but I don't care. I'm sure the whole trip will be awesome.
Comment: I was so pleasantly surprised to receive such a BEAUTIFUL letter and stamped images! The calligraphy, the colored in images, the nature stamps, everything was gorgeous. And I thoroughly enjoyed reading your letter! I love how you did the watercolored effect on the goddies you included. So cool. If you ever want a stamped letter pen pal, let me know!
Response: I'm so glad you liked it! I'm pretty swamped right now, but if things get less busy in the future I will drop you a message. :-)
Comment: Hi Melissa! Thank you for the beautiful waterfall pc! So sorry the fire last year messed up the trail - fire is so scary! Your printing is amazing - so readable! Hugs and Happy Swapping! ;)
Response: Glad you liked it! All things considered, the fire damage wasn't as bad as people feared and it will probably be good for the ecology long-term, but...it's hard to take that much change on an immediate human scale. At least there are still many other nice hiking areas open.
Comment: Thank you for the interesting PC. It must be quite awe-inspiring to see a volcano actually erupt! I'm pleased that you enjoy my swap. :-) Thanks for being a part of it.
Response: It is one of the most incredible experiences I've had! Absolutely mesmerizing (literally) - it's honestly a little alarming how not nervous one can feel next to molten lava. Kilauea is one of the more approachable eruptions on our planet, but all kinds of unpredictable things can still happen. I am very glad I did the hike, though.
Comment: Oh my goodness, now YOU really spoil ME with this fabulous envelope full of such amazing goodies :)! I must say you´ve really read my profile with care as every single item is perfect; my favourite birds and flowers and everything else. I have plenty of joy with these many months to come. And also your envelope is so pretty, it caught my eye immediately I stepped into the house after a long day at work (and the very 1st one after the summer holiday). Thank you so much for making my day; I´d give you tens of hearts if I could!
Response: Yay, it arrived! I do try to match profiles when I can. Thanks for the swap - super fun, happy to swap with you any time!
Comment: Thank you - love the envelope of brown goodies - I tend to gravitate towards brights, so these will be excellent added to my stash AND will help me work with more of an aged look, which I really do like.
Response: Glad you like them - hope you have fun playing with them. :-)
Comment: Thanks for the blue/turquoise items! One of my favorite colors, and there's some fun stuff to make use of. I am baffled by the flower - it looks like a dye cut, but on closer inspection was cut out of a magazine. Like how does one cut so perfectly around that??? Your cute scaly note was my fave though. Thanks!
Response: Heh, um, very tiny embroidery scissors and a compulsive nature? I have a massive pile of field guide and dictionary cutouts (more than I can ever use) now due to it being my destress method of choice at the moment. I think that one was from a kid's dictionary. Hope you have fun!
Comment: The jungle is doing well, but so are the weeds. Tonight there was a snake in my driveway under the trash can when I moved it. Not sure what it was, but it makes weeding even less appealing. Yikes! Great stamps! Thanks.
Response: You're welcome! Snakes mostly want to get away, so you're probably fine as long as you flip logs and trash can lids away from you - but it does sound startling (and a good excuse not to weed)! The weeds are an eternal battle....
Comment: Thank you for the grea bird PC...you would have enjoyed the site I saw today. There was a swarm of swallows going crazy over at the mall. They were going nuts over a group of little bugs. It was beautiful and (as you said) terrifying at the same time.
Response: They're all dinosaurs! I love swallows, though - such amazing fliers.
Comment: Oh wow! Thank you for the beautiful ATC! I love the envie you made and I adore all of the great dog dies and music paper! Perfect for me! Thanks again for everything. I wish I could give you two hearts.
Response: You're very welcome! Glad you liked everything. :-)
Comment: Oh my goodness.... you have absolutely spoiled me!!! I can't believe you sent me so many wonderful things!!! I'm honestly speechless and I can't thank you enough!! I just love love love it all!! (I feel sorry for my swap partner now, lol!)That napkin is amazing!! The stamps are unbelievable.... I could just go on and on. Thank you for making my day!!!!
Response: I'm super glad you liked it! I really love putting together little packages of repurposed ephemera. I had to have my mom mail it since I was going out of town, but I'd underestimated postage and my nice local postal clerk carefully selected additional thematic stamps. I thought you might like the unused ones, also. :-) I found a man selling off his collection on Craigslist a while back and was able to stock up on some amazing vintage postage!
Comment: A hundred hearts. BTW, I dont know why the heart button isnt working. So, your grocery bag envie was so pretty! Your Earth DAy card is beautiful! All the images you sent are spectacular! You naughty girl..you cut up books. lol Hard, I know. OUr library tosses books all the time so I grab them, hug them and cut. lol Whales! Thar she blows! Stamps! This is almost like a wish list. And that one little piece of pink chi origami paper. Ooooooo. Its all so delish!
Hay, I see you make handmade stickers. I'd love to see some. I've been wanting to make some forever. We can even swap for some. Again, thank you so much and thank you for joining! x
Response: Haha, yes, book art has been a bit of a struggle for me...but I mostly go for damaged or battered books that I get super cheap, like at library sales. I figure it's better than pulping! Sometimes I get a book and then decide I can't bear to cut it up, though. I'm glad you liked the packagelet! I'd be happy to swap handmade stickers sometime.
Comment: Thank you so much! I just love your tetra fishes ATC! Your effort really show. Also thank you for lovely washi tapes (you really didn't need to send them, but thanks!) Oh, you just made my day! :)
Response: You're very welcome! I like to include extras when I think I have something someone will like. :-) These swaps push me to actually do art, and ATCs are nice and small so they're not really intimidating.
Comment: Oh my god. You made my day with all the lovely envies. They’re sooooo beautiful. The Japanese and Music papers are so pretty. I wish I get the heart to use them! I love mails with sweet notes, yours was awesome. I felt like I knew you for so long while reading that! I hope you get to visit malaysia sometime, it would be great to meet you! It’s hot here throughout the year. Rains a lot too! The beat time to visit would be Feb to October (lesser rain). Hope you do make it!
Response: Yay, I'm glad you liked the envies and the note! :-) Malaysia is definitely on my list.
Comment: OMG - I am in love!!!! In love with your stickers! These are gorgeous - I would pay money for them. I was obsessed with handmade stickers before - and now I think the obsession has grown. Thank you so much - I love them!
...you're welcome. (Seriously, it's a fun obsession, and at least for me sidesteps the problem with storebought stickers where I can never bring myself to USE my favorites. And once my life settles down I'd be happy to do a private swap for more if you want - I did a huge handmade sticker swap earlier this year but my partner dropped off the face of the planet without sending, so after I have time to rebuild the stash I'd be up for trying again with someone else.)
Comment: Melissa, wow. Just...wow. Your re-send arrived today and I absolutely love, love, love this PC. I don't think magazines are my stiyle either, but dang woman - you've nailed it with this one. Thank you so much for such a beautifully done PC - and I'm so sorry the first was lost to the ether. xoxo
Response: Phew, I'm so relieved it made it and you liked it. :-) I tried to capture some of my favorite things about the coast - heading out there this weekend!
Comment: Wheeeeee! You made my day! I love everything that you’ve sent me! I got an envelope punch boar recently, and I really am addicted to it. It’s a pity we don’t get beautiful paper here. Thanks a lot.
Response: You're very welcome! I think my favorite things to make envelopes out of are found papers, like sheet music and maps.
Comment: I too found this challenging and mine didn't turn out like I had imagined. Yours is so awesome. It turned our really great. I like your combination of washi, collage, and the hand drawn circles around the gold. SUPER!! Thanks for joining!
Response: Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. I need to make time to do a few sketchbook pages to noodle around...kind of overwhelming inspiration!
Comment: Love the card and love, love the stamps! I agree that pre-digital photography was awesome - love it!
Response: Glad you liked the stamps - it's great to be able to use some of my topical stamp horde. (I think astronomical photography is maybe technically better now, but it's awfully impressive what they pulled off pre-digital.)
Comment: I like your swap-bot name. I lived in Oregon for about a third of my life. We went camping in the mountains when I was young. I miss those trips. At a older age I went salmon fishing there with my ex-fiance. The beauty of Oregon is breathtaking. Thank you for this postcard.
Response: You're welcome! I spent a long time living in Colorado (which I also love), but the desert/prairie made me really appreciate all the things about Oregon I took for granted growing up here. :-) I love having so many waterfalls and of course the mossy rainforest. (Texas has some fantastic wildlife, though!)
Comment: Thank you for sharing all the bits and pieces! The saying on the fortune cooking is just what I need these days! I havent seen one of the movies, the tickets are a good reminder to see another film! And now have a great evening.
Response: You're welcome! I often find fortune cookies arrive at the right time, haha.
Comment: Oh, I really love your "happy spring" washi card. The colors and birds and everything - it's just a great theme/design all around and it made me smile. Thanks so much for including some butterfly & flowers vintage postage for me to use too. It was a great mail day from a "neighbor!" :)
Response: Yay, I'm glad you liked it! It didn't come out quite the way I wanted, but that's always how it goes. Glad you enjoyed the postage - I scored a bunch of great mint postage off Craigslist last fall and it's nice to share. :-)
Comment: I’ve been to England too and still need to see the rest of the uk and Ireland, my grandma was from England and raised in Scotland by her vile aunt who used her as a maid, but it was the 30’s and all I suppose.
Response: I am often glad we don't live in the 30s - that's awful.
Comment: Hello Melissa,
Thank you for the beautiful pc from Japan. And I love, love love th stamps with textile. Thank you so much for them.
Forgot to give you a heart. You earned it because of the stamps.
Response: You're so welcome - I'm glad you liked the stamps!
Comment: Thank you very much!⤠Love the postcard, and thank you very much for the space stamp and the Mars sticker on the backside! :) And I love that the stamp and postcard image match! :) Thank you for the book recommendation, the book sounds quite different and interesting and I'm always looking for new science fiction books to read :) Happy Holidays!
Response: You're very welcome! I'm glad you could identify the planet, haha. Have a great holiday!
Comment: Melissa, I really like this ATC! Your stamping technique is masterful...such nice images. Thanks for the Sci-fi rec...I have downloaded Spin State for holiday reading. Sounds like my kind of sci-fi...My current is Orson Scott Card's Keeper of Dreams...short stories so I can read one before I fall asleep. ; )
Response: Thank you - honestly, my technique is so-so, but Versafine ink is magical. I hope you enjoy Spin State - I'm not quite done yet.
Comment: Interesting I received your PC today, my daughter and I were just talking about Portland yesterday she is considering going to school there. It looks like a beautiful city with the mountain and background and I didn't know was classified as the city of roses. We live in an area where there's lots of bears and wildlife around us and I love that fact and seen them in their natural habitat. Thank you for the wonderful postcard and letter 😀
Response: It's pretty nice (or at least parts of it are), and close to nature, although it can be tough to get to it without a car. Not many bears, though! There are some good schools here.
Comment: Hi Melissa... Thanks so much for the extra postcards, and I really enjoyed your note. I also really LOVE how you decorated the envelope - such a cool style. I'm dropping your postcard at the post office on my way home from work tonight. Thanks again!
Response: I'm glad you liked the envelope (I...sort of remember what I did, maybe) - I've been trying to experiment lately with fun but easy ways of decorating them.
Comment: I had to google the cranes call and you're right, pretty cute :D I love the geese landing on the first photo, you've captured the speed (lack of it?) very nicely! I'm pretty sure I have at least one postcard that has the mill in it since I loved it and your photo is just lovely, I really like the flow of water in it. And as cliche as the maple tree might be it's just so gorgeous, I LOVE the branches and Fall is one of my favorite times because of the colors (we call it 'ruska' here in Finland :)) so even though I like all the photos that one might be my favorite ;) Thanks for sharing and thanks for checkin out my blog! I love my halfsies :,D
Response: Thank you so much! I love fall, too - colors and all the nice fog, although I'm bad at getting up early for it.
Comment: Thank you so much for your wonderful letter! I'm super excited to write back, my goal is to send out a response letter within the next week or two. I absolutely loved the washi tape you sent, thank you!
Response: Yay! No worries if it takes longer, of course (I'm looking at a pile of work and mail to catch up on after being sick...life happens).
Comment: Thank you for the postcard and for the interesting stamps! Wow, more power to you for knowing Hungarian... I started to learn it once but gave up fairly soon; I think it needs more dedication than I had at the time.
Response: Well, I wouldn't say I "know" it, but I could get by okay most of the time. :-) Living there for a while helped a lot, so now I just need to find a way to live in Germany so I can learn German!
Comment: Thank you so much for the ATC and the lovely card. I LOVE IT!!!! You ATC card was perfect and so pretty I would not dare do anything to it as you suggested. The artist in the card is so talented and I can see why you love her, Is beautiful! Thanks!!
Response: I'm so glad you like it! I have been using ATCs to try out new-to-me techniques and styles, so it's a little scary!
Comment: Imagine me: I raise my arms elbows on and shake my hands "iiiik I LOVE it" when I got your card 😃 The card, the stamps (!), neat writing, stickers.. thank you, I loved it, the whole of everything ♡ 😊
Ps. I'd love some waterfalls here!
Response: So glad you liked it! I guess Norway got most of the waterfalls in the region. :-)
Thank you so much for this great envelope of stickers. I adore the ones you picked for me and am so in love with this swap. Thank you also for the extras for my boy. He is swooning over his stickers.
Comment: I'm so sorry for the delay in rating. I found a bag of mail and your swap was in it. Thank you for the beautiful postcard. And for including those adorable post it notes too
And thank you for your extra post-its. They are adorable.
Also thank you for the resend
Comment: I'd love to visit the Petrified Forest. It's really not far away enough to not go. Excellent card. I was really excited that you used the deer & goose stamps, and the beetle sticker... you know me too well.
Response: I'm glad you liked the stamps! I just got them recently and they seemed perfect for you from your profile. :-)
Comment: I really like the postcard you made! I was lucky enough to snorkel with whale sharks. It was terrifying because they are enormous. I've never seen any sharks snorkeling around reefs and I hope I never do. I would be scared! Thanks much.
Response: Did the postcard survive the mailing process okay? I'm still figuring out method, so any feedback is helpful.
I'm so envious you got to snorkel with whale sharks! They are so amazing, but I imagine the sheer size is intimidating. White-tipped reef sharks are pretty safe to be around, but I still had that moment of primal fear.
Comment: Wow! Alice Eastwood sounds awesome; I'll have to look into her! Thanks for the stickers! I don't find many people into bugs! I'd love to write letters/postcards with you! Watch your mailbox! :)
Response: I'm always excited to find fellow bug fans! :-) Maybe over-excited, but I have to do something with all my insect stationery...
Comment: Thank you for the lovely images. I really like the ones with the music sheets as the background. The ones you stained with tea are super lovely as well, I know I will have fun crafting with them. = )
Comment: Hello "neighbor." :) What fun actually and yes, it's always amazing in international swaps to get someone in your own area. I've had it happen a few times. In any case, thank you for the lovely bird card flying me in some pretty washi tapes! :) I don't have any of your designs in my current collection.
Response: Yay, glad I could send you some new ones! :-)
Comment: Thank you so much for the wonderful bird postcard! Welcome to Swap-Bot :) I don't mind the heat, but the smoke made it seem really humid. When I saw we were neighbors, I had to read your profile :) I, too, love Scrap PDX! I haven't been there for a few months, but I love perusing all their treasures! Happy Swapping!!
Response: Glad you liked it! I'm looking forward to rain clearing up the air...
Comment: Thank you, thank you, thank you! I love the things you sent. Two of my favorite things - lighthouses and butterflies. The envelope even has a Texas stamp I have never seen before LOL!
Response: So glad you liked it! I have a lot of older stamps, so I'm excited when I get to send a state one to the right state. :-)
Comment: What an exciting assortment of flat items you've sent, I don't know what I like the most..@.@ Definitely saving the sticker squid and really cool space stamps for a special day, but I love the Washi, wolf, winter paper and other stickers, and let me just say, those are the prettiest looking weeds I have ever seen! I had to look up how you did a sun print and it sounds like a lot of fun. :D Thanks for sharing your creative paper with me and all the other sweet treats, along with your lovely note. :) Best wishes, Sara
Response: I'm so glad you liked the items! Sunprinting is incredibly fun - I just got a little $7 kit with the small squares of paper to experiment small scale, but I have dreams of doing a cotton scarf if I can figure out how to get a big enough sheet of non-UV-blocking acrylic or glass.
Comment: I love the otter postcard! And I totally LOVE the quote! I read that series when I was about 12, and adored it...I might just have to reread it because you reminded me how great it was! Thanks!
Response: Glad you liked it! I was thinking I should reread them myself...I forgot how fun they were.
Comment: Hi Melissa! Thank you so much for the gorgeous postcard you sent me! I love it! Yes I've been to Prague, lovely city and the Mucha museum is amazing. Love all the architecture in the city too! Thanks again for the postcard!
