Comment: As always, I love receiving your lists. And I always find some new favorites. This time; My friend the chocolate cake. Never heard of before, but definitely something that will be played around here from now on :) Thanks once again for giving me the chance to get something new to listen to! All the best!
Comment: Thank you for the unique and handsome ATC. Being a tactile Taurus I appreciated the added dimension . The other artists' card was lovely too. Thanks I enjoyed this swap.PS the violin, I took a few lessons
Comment: Hello! I really apologize for getting to this so, so late! I hope you and your family are safe and healthy during this time. On to your list~ Sara Bareilles is not an artist I would listen to regularly, but holy cow I feel like her voice is so expressive, she really does belong in musicals! Had you seen the production this song comes from? "Willow" is such a relaxing song, especially right now (just got off the phone with the unemployment office, argh!). Sxip Shirey's song also sounds very Broadway-esque. I imagine a sequence of a woman getting back to her hotel after a day of solo-travel. Relatable! "Ride to Death" is so lovely but almost a tearjerker somehow. Lana's "the greatest"- So I absolutely love Lana del Rey and have since the Born to Die era, but this album is not enjoyable for me to listen. It all sounds too sad and melancholic for me now, and a lot of the songs sound too similar, in my opinion. Maybe I just need to give the whole album another run through again. Pomplamoose strikes again with the Sweet Dreams/Seven Nation Army mashup! Yes! Love it! I want to be them so bad, LOL. Alex the Astronaut is an artist I had not heard of, but wow I really should have. I love "Already Home"! I hit the like button so fast on Spotify. Looks like she released an album today! I'm liking Didirri's "Blind You." If you like them, I really recommend listening to Iron + Wine and Fleet Foxes. "Vanhorn" has gotten a sh*tton of airplay on our local alt radio. I love Saint Motel's music so I'm happy to see them get a lot of traction this past year. They're a lot like Fitz & the Tantrums if you haven't heard of them! "Sugar & Booze" is a Christmas song but frankly it can totally be a quarantine anthem too! Saving for the holidays... The next song, "I Haven't Gotten Anything Better to Do" is also a perfect quarantine song, haha! Anything from Celia Cruz gets an automatic like from me. As a kid, when it was a big cleaning day my mom would put tropicales music on so I've got this going while I'm cleaning countertops, ha! "See Line Woman" was a great choice to follow Celia. Fun song!
"Please Won't Please"- OK, I'm gonna have to listen to more of Helado Negro's catalogue. This song is so suspiciously mellow, I have to know what their other work is like! Can't believe how fast "Suburban Trampoline Casualties" was! It was telling a story but as soon as it started it ended! No, I want more! I know "Lovely Day" from soft rock radio for the past two decades, lol. "Things Can Only Get Better" and "The Nearness of You" are both really nice soft songs as well. Chicken Soup for the Soul, if you will. The last two continue the thread of soulfulness and optimism (or so they seem on their face). Overall, I really enjoyed your list and I think I have more in common with your taste than my other partners for this swap. Thank you so much for sharing, and also thank you for condensing everything into a Spotify playlist! :)
Response: Analise: I'm delighted when anyone listens to one of my playlists. I am THRILLED that you took the time to write a response to listening!
Comment: Thank you for making me a lovely “H” ATC! I can understand how declining eyesight, cluttered workspace, and x-acto skills thwart one’s artistic ambitions too - been there myself! That’s why I always appreciate the effort!!! And this one turned out nicely - very “clean & simple” which is pleasing to the eye! Your fancy envelope that says “Enlivening mailboxes since 1981” made me smile too! Until next time, happy arting!!
Comment: Thank you for the poem and beautiful ATC. I can commiserate - this project was a lot harder than I thought! It took a lot of pondering and searching through the few printed materials I had at hand, but was a fun exercise overall!
Comment: Tim, I like what you did w your junk mail for thee ATC . Though I thought it was upside down because of the background lettering. The red dot spot and pulled carpet string! It appears that cleaner doesn’t work very well.😀. But, as an artsy abstract? Definitely ! Thank you. Ps. I had a difficult time w mine too!
Comment: Thanks for sharing your playlist! As always, I love getting lists from you. There's always something new that I haven't heard before, and so it was this time. I really liked Caroline Polachek. Never knew about her before but this was really my style. Thanks again and Merry Christmas :)
Comment: I don't know where to begin about how amazing your ATC is ! ❤️❤️❤️ It was well worth the wait, I can tell you that. It's definitely going with my favourite ATCs. I love all the way you put together all those recycled elements and yes, I'm enjoying very much this feisty adventurer. You used so many different techniques, I'm impressed and so thankful I was lucky enough to be assigned as your partner for this swap.
Comment: I love your ingenuity in making Atcs that way! I have never seen that, thank you for sharing the end product with me, its beautiful!! And thanks for the extras to do my own type ATC! Thank you!
Comment: Hi Tim, I really enjoyed what you sent! Thanks for the note about your current ATC strategy- I've only recently started making them, and I similarly feel like the most common aesthetic used isnt one I'm interested in recreating. I love the ATC you sent- the subtle variation in background color and the shapes that kind of remind me of an abstract mountain reflected in a lake. The zine is cool too, and I love the stamps you sent and used on the envie. Thanks so much & I hope to see you soon in another swap!
Comment: Dear Mr. Undescribably. Hee hee. Love the name change. Thanks so much for the fab ATC. Yes, this has been a long winter. We didn't have much snow and then got 40 inches in the last month. That was kind of tortureous. But, it's melting now and soon we'll forget winter even happened. Thanks again for the nice ATC and note.
Comment: I enjoyed your comments on how you work with images. I look forward to seeing more of your work. Thank you. you have given me a new way of looking at bits. It was a special package for me by your opening a new train of thought for me.
Comment: I thoroughly enjoyed listening to your playlist. They say it's Spring, Blackbird, and Good Enough were my favorites. If I could, I would give you extra hearts for including Todd Snider. He's one of my favs. Thanks! 💜💜💜
Comment: Absolutely LOVED your tape. I worked for the Physics Department in the 1960s...did you ever hear of Alan Portis? My boss. He may have died before you went to the Rad Lab. Also Art Kip, but I don't think he was on the hill as much as Alan. Thanks for the fun message. You make a terrific story teller! I may respond.
Comment: This is great. Love all the different textures-script and colors of purple. Very nice indeed-thanks for sharing the process of how you got to this one! Enjoyed the envelope, too! Thanks for swapping!
Comment: Thanks- I enjoyed your answers and comments - I’m not familiar with several of the musicals you mentioned, but your explanations for choosing the songs you did make me want to check them out!
Comment: Hello Tim! Thanks for the cool collage ATC! It's great. I do that too - put stuff aside and finish them later when inspiration strikes! It's like a collaboration with yourself. Your old self and your current self. LOL. Thanks again.
Comment: Thanks for sharing! You always have such interesting stuff in your lists! And what exactly is "skiffle"?
Response: Skiffle is a type of acoustic string music based in blues, ragtime, and jazz. It was popular in the United States in the 1920s, and a revival in the United Kingdom in the 1950s inspired young people like John Lennon and Paul McCartney (and Jimmy Page) to pick up the guitar.
Comment: Very interesting book choice. Not one I would have ever thought of picking up since I have no interest in running either but just goes to show you what expanding our horizons can lead us to. Thank you!
Comment: First of all, I am really glad you didn't go with the fashion magazines - I am not a Vogue type of person!! Secondly, I like to use black in my cards but often don't because most partners don't like the darker images. And thirdly, I love the rats! The only thing that would have made this atc better is if there had been a bloody, severed finger with the rats!! So, yes, thank you so much for a couple of great atcs!! (Also a little intrigued by the millipede's carapace!)
Comment: This was the kind of playlist I hoped to receive! Loved all the covers, esp Villagers "Wichita Lineman" - very clean sounding and beautiful, and the Ravel, OMG....makes me realize I should have added Joshua Bell playing Massenet: Meditation de Thais..it will make you cry...all this and fatboy slim...thanks so much!
Comment: I really enjoyed reading your email :) I am looking forward to hearing the songs you sent...I, too, love Broadway musicals (but have never gotten to go to one...yet!) I hope I will find some new tunes to add to my playlist :)
Comment: Tim, this card was perfect for of course I love musicals and Oklahoma is one of my all time favorites on stage! I see you are a storyteller; that must be a fantastic adventure to live. I hope your day is wonderful and thank you again for the post.
Comment: Thanks for the resent! :) I'm glad you did. About my spam folder, I always check my inbox en spambox, I've never seen your e-mail. It's very weird, I don't know what's about our swaps everytime. I hope your mail will get through the next time.
Comment: Great letter! I just came back from a film festival this yesterday "Insect fear film festival" at the Univ. of Illinois. My daughter was forced to watch the Gamera movies and now her son is watching them. Timeless cheezy classics.Hope to see "Birdman" tomorrow if there isn't a blizzard. Thanks!
Comment: I love this card. Thank you so much! You say you stepped out of your comfort zone for this, and I'm really really glad you did! I have a collection of fish cards, and this one will never be traded away. Thank you!
Comment: I picked up a week's worth of mail today. Of the many incoming mail art pieces yours stood out. I love both sides of your card & keep picking it out of the pile to look at again. Is that a self portrait? Thanks so much. Happy New Year.
Comment: What a creative and imaginative way to present your reviews. I really enjoyed opening each "book" and reading the review. I sure it was time consuming but it was most appreciated. Happy reading. Ann Marie
Comment: Once again you brought a smile to my face! LOVE your ATC's.... Mr Bean!!!!!! Also love your jellyfish stationery! We have similar creative styles so I can really appreciate your work! Thank you so much!
Comment: The rest of the music is also from the time I wasn't born jet. I think that's why I don't like the most. But I always loved the music of Michael Jackson, also the songs in your list. Thanks for sharing.
Comment: Hey Tim! I was super excited to receive not just one BUT TWO of your lovely ATCs. I really enjoy your work and was excited to see that a dude was on here creating! (I've only swapped with women thus far!) I like your style a lot and enjoy both ATCs. Let me know if you ever want to do a 1:1 trade. -poeticlaughter
Comment: Hi Tim, Thank so much for the cool bird ATCs - love the techniques and colors. Thanks for the Flickr follow... and thanks also for sending some sunshine my way - here's a little rain for you - Minneapolis style. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYUvCStLYJI
:) p.s. I'm hoping to move back to the sunshine state this fall - probably San Diego maybe San Fran.
Comment: I love the clever format you came up with and using impressionists as the background. I could "get" every taste (except carrot juice) :p but I am a huge fan of Bogart and Hepburn, Love BBC Sherlock, and am crazy about the three groves of Sequoia and spent many a vacation in Yosemite. Thank you for the thoughtful lists!!! A heart to you!
Comment: Thanks for the cuttlefish! I'm make a pithy comment about the neatness of your tearing, but I probably wouldn't have remembered that if you hadn't pointed it out :^)
// Edit 30 Jan: oh hey, the torn paper one arrived today - unnecessary but I appreciate it! I like how you incorporated the Asian papers.
Comment: WoW WoW WoW how many hearts can I give???? This is a GREAT envie that I received and I love the ATCs…..wow… esp the gut feeling one……. well the other's fabulous too….and I am intrigued by the ZINE have never had one nor do I know much about them…..and thank you for the hand written note as well…. You have made me smile…….
Comment: Thank you for the neat Art of Black Film PC. I have never heard of this movie. I too will have to check it out. One of my favorite old timey movie actors is Burt Lancaster. He always seemed to capture the screen. Your PC is a keeper. thanx.
Comment: Thanx for the Zines and the extra "antique" one! My little boy fell in love with the real stamp you used - the round one with the planet earth - awesome! How come we limited ourself to square stamps???
Comment: Sorry for this late rating! I must have forgotten to rate and only now when I was looking though my swaps I realized and never rated you! My apologies!
Happy Swapping and thank you for the list!
Comment: Thank you, I like the medical illustration of the heart too! As a matter of fact I did one similar to yours for another swap. For this one I did zentagle style hearts, but I like the valentine type too. Thank you for the neat stickers also. I like how you made your envelope as well!
Comment: Very nice ATC, Tim, I will be glad to have it in my collection...thanks for the pics you posted in Flickr of the masterboard & all the ATCs you made from it...nice to see the others as well as your original piece. Thanks also for the stickers!
Comment: Tim, thank you for cool ATC not sure about language on the card but I like depth and collage of it. and thank you for nice extras papers and lovely handmade envelope! I also had the same issue like you did I had backgrounds made but finishing them took me a lot of thought and time to make it unique. I think you got one of my card if not yet you will Thank you!
Comment: Thank you for your cool ATC and tuck-ins. I had to look up the word "ursonate". It was not familiar to me. I have to admit when I first pulled your envie from my mailbox, that I just stared at the ant on it. How totally cool!!! I will definitely be saving it for upcycling:-) It is always so interesting to me to see how other artists do their background boards. It never disappoints. Happy Fall Mailings, ellie
Comment: Gorgeous envelope and I ADORE the stickers and postcards. Re: Doctor Who and kids - I just started letting my 7 year old watch it. I was worried, but so far she loves it and nothing scares her. Not even the WEEPING ANGELS! She's totally obsessed. But definitely NO Sherlock for several years. LOL :)
Comment: AWESOME!!! You are very talented (I can't believe I sent you my video now...lol) I love how you played while you sang and it was great! Now, I will be singing this every time I wash the dishes! Thanks for swapping with me!
Comment: The postcard beat the zine by a day. I like your abstract contribution - now to figure out how I will approach the topic! [maybe University of North Dakota, or Sweetbriar College, or Albion College...]
Comment: Postcard was first! (monday) I have some serious Cheez-it eaters in my household, they were intrigued by the vintage box. I have been known to use the backs of the current boxes as a "multi-view" chunk o' cardboard :^)
Comment: Loved the playlist, The Housemartins are actually from my hometown, so it was great to see them on there! Liking the songs from Wreck It Ralph too, your kids clearly have wonderful taste :) Hope you have a good day!
Comment: Ahhh, yes. That is indeed a wild and weird postcard. Is he smelling the fish or kissing it? And I'd be happy to swap art with you in a one-on-one swap, if you'd like. I think I"m going to be scaling back the swap-bot things I'm signing up for just because it's summer and I think swap-bot might be more of a winter thing for me, but I"m always up for 1-on-1 swaps :)
Comment: Thanks for the San Francisco Garter Snake pc! I'm one of those strange people who's not afraid of snakes! I've seen garter snakes but, according to the pc, it probably wasn't a San Francisco one.
Comment: Texas does have quail, but I think the population is declining here. We usually only see them here during winter months. Thank you for this my son is ADHD. And this card had him interested enough to google it. I am becoming addicted to the post card swaps.
Comment: I got my ATC's today Tim, and they are marvelous. Well worth waiting for! Even the backs were fun! I love the way you used the ribbon and the mesh on "Onwards". And the background on "Be Prepared" was very intriguing. Did you use tissue? It fit the theme so well!. Thank you for all your hard work. They are among my favorites!
Comment: Hey Tim..
Thanks again for another awesome ATC (& the little watercolour card was a nice touch as well) What are the odds that you'd get me assigned for 2 of your swaps?! Weird...but it's worked out great on my end!
I appreciate your artistic eye & will enjoy adding this ATC to my collection.
Comment: Wow I actually love all songs on your playlist!! I really should say that you have EXCELLENT taste in music!!:)It's really hard to choose just only one for my favorite. But...the song, Talk to ya later by "The Tubes" is so addictive. Because I keep singing those part starting with "Talk to you later~" over and over :) Thank you for sharing your great playlist and I'm sorry for the late rating.
Response: Aw, thanks! I'm so glad you found some songs to enjoy. Will you send me your playlist? I always enjoy discovering new music. Talk to ya later!
Comment: Thanks so much, Tim! The backgrounds are all wonderful; the aluminum one is just crying out for alcohol inks. the monoprint evokes planets and clouds, the leathery-masking tape one is a work of art in itself! You've certainly inspired me!
Response: You are very welcome. I never considered alcohol inks for the aluminum.... great idea. Thanks for the heart!
Comment: I really enjoyed your creativity on the atc and the little folder you made out of the tea box! Also clever to use the box for the backing so as to display the tea info on the box! I also enjoy a fine black tea. Be Bold........:-)
Comment: Thanks for the Christmas songs! I sent you my list, as we seem to have some favorites in common. The Beach Boys album in is constant replay on Christmas day in my house, because my husband and father-in-law rule the stereo. I sneak off to listen to everything else. I have to hide to listen to the live broadcast of the King's College Choir without interruption :)
Comment: Thanks for your playlist / letter! I liked it a lot. Don't meet many people who know of Wilco. The splatterpainting was gorgeous - were they watercolors? And your envelope reminded me of an easter egg, in a good way.
(You should check out Ben Howard's cover of 'Call Me Maybe'. It seems like it would fit your tastes more so than the original.)
Comment: I'm not going to rate down for such a simple swap, but if you join again, please respect the deadline. Thanks for the link, I loved when they did special episodes (especially that one and the medieval one).
Comment: I LOVE the cool folded paper booklet with the Jackson Pollock paint job! The letter is fabulous as well and I will get to responding as soon as I can. Thank you!
P.S. Must've been a pretty horrifying sandwich if you still remember it after all these years.
Comment: A wonderful letter, very well detailed and a pleasure to sit and read through.
I actually visit Pacheco, CA every year, so it was lovely to read another persons view of the surrounding area, I'll be sending a little reply too :)
Comment: TIM! Thanks so much for the GREAT PCs!!! I enjoy each one! Can I ask where you are getting the manilla envelopes you sent the PCs in? I like the size but haven't seen them around here. Thanks again!
