Comment: "Writing with Quiet Hands", a book and a note of encouragement for writing---I am feeling so sad for the family that you are gone. A loss for swap-bot too. My mascot came the day Felicia sent message. I shall appreciate this book for a very long time.
Comment: Looks like you got quite a bit accomplished or in progress--that's fantastic! But I totally understand about having a tough time writing sometimes. I hope the group continues to inspire you in 2016! Thank you for the bookmark as well!
Response: Thank you. Keep up your writing too. I'll 'see 'you soon in the group.
Comment: Happy New Year Andrea,
I opened your envelope up and realized that you are from the neck of the woods where my brother has his 2nd house - Hampton Roads. My other brother was here for dinner last night and when I opened up the envelope and he saw the paper, and said "I could of gotten you that paper - Andrew gets that paper at the house all the time. I then explained to him why I got it.
First, thank you for the quotes. I use poetry, stories, quotes in my writing and this is something that I will do/lead people in a retreat. I'm jealous, you did a writitng retreat - congrats on taking time for yourself. Happy Belated Birthday.
Where did you do your retreat? And yes, DC has been unseasonably warm (about 10 degrees below from your temps.).
Hope we can trade again,
Response: I was in Greenville NC and I'd recommend a retreat to anyone interested in some creative exploration.
Small world, isn't it?
Comment: I really like the pocket letter you made! I especially love the Mother ATC included in it. You don't have your name on the back, so I'm going to put it on there so I can remember who's artwork it is after I put it in my ATC binder. Thank you for sending me your first PL!
Comment: Hi Andrea! Thanks so much for the interesting pc! We were in Virginia in Feb a few years ago - we did not get to see much there but did go to Washington, DC for a few days - it was cold but we enjoyed everything we got to do! Thanks for the great share! Hugs and Happy Swapping! ;)
Response: Glad you enjoyed the card. . Maybe you'll visit Virginia again when it's warm. There are 2 months of perfect weather in VA. One before winter and one before summer. lol!
Comment: Andre, thank you for the precious horse postcard. It caught me laughing out loud. We must have been born around the same time as I do remember those smelly outhouses and not wanting to over my grandmother's home. Thanks again, Shirley
Response: I'm glad you got a chuckle. Happy swapping.
Comment: Sorry I've taken so long to rate this. It did arrive on time. Great card of Iowa and scenic pictures. Now I have another state to put on my "Visit" list. Looks like there's lots to see and do.
Comment: Andrea, I'm much more of a pantser this year. I have a few ideas but nothing outlined or written down. Don't let your lack of "all the answers" right now dissuade you from participating. Pants-it! Thanks for sharing! Good luck either way!
Comment: thanks for the nice quotes, one suggestion I have for you is not to use a big envelope for pocket letters since everything comes out of the pockets in transit, it's best to fold the card holder and use the smaller envelope
Comment: Hi Andrea! TY for the awesome Old Cape Henry Lighthouse pc! Funny story now, not at the time - our son was in Virginia for training and we went to visit him from IL - one of the days we are there we decide to drive to Virginia Beach (in Feb.) just to say we have been - so we also decide to visit the lighthouse which is on base - when we are stopped to show my car registration and insurance card, I can't locate either in my car - yikes!! Needless to say, we did not get on base to visit the lighthouse - sigh!! Better believe that has not happened again - I always verify they are in the glovebox before traveling!! LOL! Thanks for the memories!! Hugs and Happy Swapping! ;)
Response: Definitely a story to tell later! Happy swapping.
Comment: Thank you so much for the great Civil War pc. I seem to have gathered a small collection of them. I enjoyed your message and the fun stickers. I, too, find the sender's choice fun, surprising swaps. Have a fun summer and enjoy your geocaching adventures.♥
Comment: Yay! Thank you for everything you sent! My kids were even impressed with the "dammit" doll, though I didn't share its exact purpose. I love it and be assured I will use it! :) I also really love the owl bookmark you sent! Thanks for everything!
Comment: Oh my! I have an official Camp NaNo pen! Woot! And I've never seen the index card book. That's awesome...and perfect for the character ID cards I want to do for the mystery series. Thanks for everything!
Comment: The envie arrived today! It was slit open on the side, covered with black stripes and looked a bit well traveled overall but your story was still in it :-) Funny thing is that the metered postage says 04-16 while the stamp says 05-16....maybe something went wrong at the post office? Oh well :) Thank you for the story! It was very enjoyable to read, very powerful!
Response: Weird. I am a bit Leary of the post office. Glad you got it and saw some potential in it.
Comment: Good luck in your endeavor to see all 50 states. When you get to Wyoming (state where I was born and raised) be sure to see Devils Tower and Yellowstone National Park. They are both amazing. Thank you for the Montana postcard, much of Wyoming looks like that.
Comment: Thanks so much for taking the time to look at my profile! We went to Williamsburg a long time ago and spent the day there. Our kids got to be in a trial and they went through a maze made of shrubbery. It was very interesting and I'm sure we didn't see all of it. Thanks very much!
Comment: Hi Andrea! TY for the lovely pc and share! Congrats on the wedding and new DIL! I was so excited when my oldest got married in Dec. but then he moved my new "daughter" to Germany for three years! LOL! Still enjoying have another woman in the family although wish they were way closer! Wishing all the best to you and your family! Hugs and Happy Swapping! ;)
Response: Oh, you must go visit! Germany is a pretty country. You'lll get to know your DIL too.
TY for the heart.
Comment: I was secretly hoping for a birthday latte! What a collection. A heart/peace sign pad, office supplies, bookmarks, and stickers for my little one. We'll need to try geocaching. Any advice on how to choose and what goodies to leave? Thank you.
Response: Enjoy that latte! haha. If you choose to leave stuff in a cache (it's not required), make a trip to the $ store for small goodies.
Comment: Hi Andrea, thanks for the card of the Alamo. I've never been there in person. And, I don't really know much about geocaching, so I looked it up. Sounds fun! Enjoy the rest of your week! Cynthia
Comment: This was an absolutely wonderful package. The items that you chose for me suit me to a tee. Love them all. It was so sweet to add the bunny for Katie and Brax. You are most thoughtful and kind. This is one of the nicest swaps that I have received. God Bless! Happy Swapping!!
Response: I'm so glad you liked it! As you'll discover (if you haven't already) I forgot to include the 'general' card! I couldn't believe I did that. But it's coming.
Comment: I got your resend postcard! I'll let you know if the original ever shows up!
**Update: Guess what came in the mail today?! Yep, your original postcard has finally arrived, a month after you mailed it!
Response: Don't you just love the USPS! Oh, well, we'll keep swapping. Happy Swapping!
Comment: Thank you for sending your list. I wish you so much luck making this year special and good, whether you make it to the Bahamas or not! (I assume you meant handyman for #5?) Thanks for the extras, too!
Response: Yes! I just noticed that typo a couple of days ago. Of course a good 'handman' is never a waste of time either. *wink-wink*
Thanks for the heart.
Comment: Love the VA lighthouse card--thanks, Andrea! I have seen a couple of those in person, and when my kids were in middle school (about 10 years ago) we drove thru Richmond to see the Civil War battlefield (Gaines' Mill) where my Great-Grandfather was injured. I thought it was so cool-I had even set up a private tour with a Natl. Park Svc. Employee, but my boys just looked around and said, "But Mom, it's just a field!" Alas, they were just too young and it kind of went over their heads. Maybe another time we will be able to go back. thanks again!
Response: Ah, well. Maybe one day they'll look back and see the value of the experience. You and I are among the few to love those old stories though. That's what history is to me. Not events, but people.
Comment: Thank you for the Ft. Monroe lighthouse! I've never been to this one. I've been to the ones down at Virginia Beach. Two of my daughters live in Suffolk & Chesapeake. I get down there every once in awhile. They usually come north to see me.
Response: Maybe you'll get to visit one day. The hoteland lighthouse are amazing.
Comment: Great PC of Virginia Beach. . . I understand completely about living nearby but never going there. When I lived in southern California there were some well-known beaches around but I didn't go to those because the others ones weren't as crowded but still beautiful. Thanks for the great PC and happy swapping ~~
Response: Thanks for the rating. Enjoy your swapping and ;your town.
Comment: Hi Andrea! What a lovely pc and can sure see why you want it back! Isn't this a fun swap? I will get it back out by the end of the week - for a short workweek, my evenings are crazy! TY for the cool tape as well! Hugs and Happy Swapping! ;)
Comment: Thank you for your nice note and the postcards! Animal postcards are perfect for me!! My Mom was a stenographer way back when! Yes things have changed and so rapidly.... Hope we swap again - have a nice weekend!! : )
Comment: Hi Andrea thanks for the Halloween card and your note. I agree Halloween isn't what it used to be now that we are older. My son turned 11 and decided he isn't going trick or treating this year. He could easily go as he is short and skinny. But he considers himself an almost teenager!
Response: Darn. But I guess we have to accept it. Enjoy!
Comment: Andrea Thank you so much for the postcard of the Liberty Bell. It ages ago when I went to see it. It was on my Senior high school year we went to see it. Thank you, it brought back great memories. Shirley
Response: Glad it brought back some memories. My family visited last year.
Comment: Hello Andrea and thank you for sending me the multi - view PC for the swap - of Colonial Williamsburg! It was a surprise & interesting you live nearby. I used to live there 2000 - 2004 & have memories, especially of a bad ice storm & Hurricane Isabelle. Happy Summer!
Response: Ah, Hurricane Isabelle brings back memories. It's a small world!
Comment: Excellent jobs (plural)! Creating a central workspace looks like a great idea that will serve you well, even though you still want to do some things to improve the space. What a sleek, professional-looking desk and writing space! And your organization with the boards and notebooks sound great. You should be so proud of your accomplishments in this swap!
Response: Thanks, Kate! So nice to have positive feedback.
Comment: So many different boards; thanks for sharing them all with me. My favorite was Being a writer, of course. And I wanted to just crawl into your Book spaces board to live there. The board of award winners is such a great idea! I bet it's fun to add to every year :-)
Response: I love the Book Spaces too! I just drool over them sometimes. The award winners board is a kind of wish list for me too. Haven't read nearly all of them though!
Comment: I know that you struggled with this piece, but honestly I thought that it was very well written and enjoyed it! Your writing style reminds me of L.A. Banks, have you read any of her books? She is an excellent writer!
Comment: Thanks for sending me not one, but two postcards! And yes, I know what you mean, I'm always forgetting stuff! I have never heard of the person you mentioned, I'll have to look him up! Happy Swapping!
Comment: Love the old Williamsburg PC! And you know what's funny? I went to Mt. Vernon last year and one of my best memories were the little lambs! Love that this has sheep! Thanks for the great taste of history :)
Comment: Hi Andrea, Thank you for all the VA goodies. I remember going on a field trip to Jamestown in fifth grade and still recognize many of the historical sites. thank you for all the special postcards for my collection too.
Comment: I loved the postcard you picked out. I have not seen or been to Germany ever. Which branch of military spouse are you? I'm Navy. I've been to Iceland and loved it. Maybe one day I'll visit Germany.
Response: Thanks so much from a fellow military wife. My husband was in the Army. I would have loved to go to Iceland! At least for awhile--I hate the cold! lol.
Comment: Thank you thank you thank you! I saw the tiny notepad first-so cute. But then I pulled out the big journal with a piece from Kinuko Y. Craft on the cover. I ADORE her work! I've even met her in person (she's super sweet). I've got greeting cards with her work on them, and now I have a journal! Oh, it's so very lovely and perfect. I can't wait to find just the right thing to use it for. Thank you!
Response: Great! I hope it brings you inspiration too.
Comment: I love these kinds of challenges too, when I did mine, I went to our local flea market, and found out there is a free yoga course coming up soon. My spouse and I are BOTH signed up for it now. You never even know what is in your own home town, huh? This was a great swap!
Response: A good experience for you too! thanks for the heart.
Comment: Thanks. I can tell you really enjoyed writing this piece - and that you know about driving a car at night. What I like about the idea you expressed is that lets the creativity come spontaneously, not with some complex outlined plot -- that's real writing.
Comment: Hi Andrea! Thanks for the California postcard. It is such a beautiful state, have been there many times. I drove a semi for several years and we always asked for loads out west. Ohio is my home state and the best because of family being here. Have a great summer, Judy
Response: Thanks for the heart. Sounds like you took advantage of your truck driving days. Good for you!
Comment: Thanks so much for the paper airplane and the one to make myself. I'll be doing that with my sons! And it really is a small world... Nashville's a pretty cool place! Thanks again for the send!
Comment: Sorry I took so long to rate: your letter had disappeared into a pile of mail, and I only just found it this morning! I really enjoyed your tale about your cousins: the details about bein' gathered on the porch at twilight really made it come alive. And special appreciation to you for signing up for this swap in the first place, when you weren't sure what you would write about for 2010. You **go** girl!
Response: I totally understand about the 'disappearing mail'. ^_^
Glad you enjoyed it!
Comment: I received your story a bit ago and finally had some time to sit and read when I could relax to enjoy the story. You got your characters speech nailed pretty good with the "I reckon" and quite a few other ones. Nice story which I enjoyed very much. Thank you!
Comment: Thanks for the postcard of Mt. Rushmore. My husband & I saw it when we drove from Maryland to Oregon, or wait, maybe it was on our return trip when we moved back. Anyway, it is quite majestic. Put it near the top of your to-do list. ;)
Response: Thanks. I would love to go one day. What an incredible piece of engineering.
Comment: I would agree that this PC is very boring but then Oklahoma is not the most interesting state!!! However, on the flip side, it IS the largest free standing statue in the world (or so it says on the back of the PC) so perhaps there's some merit to it. . .but nonethless still boring!!!
Comment: Enjoyed reading about how your writing dream has come true. How exciting! Your first paragraph that mentions the books you enjoyed as a child. It's funny...I've read (or am in the process of reading) all of those books to my daughters. We're right in the middle of Johnny Tremaine (for my oldest daughter) and Winnie the Pooh (for my youngest).
Response: Those classics never get old! I'm glad you enjoyed my story.
Comment: Great story! Enjoyed all the ways that the main character had to modify her plans. I could feel her stress as the day went along, and was happy she was open to changing her plans in the end. Very well written!
Comment: Thank you for your story from my 5 works, I thought it was great but I need to know what was in the will! I am puzzled as to why you sent me directions to reach your home from Hampton when I live much further away than that. Sorry I have been so long in rating :-)
Response: Hm. I have to go back and look at the swap to figure out your questions! But I thank you for the heart.
Comment: Thanks for sending the poem. You're right...too often people see only one (neagative) side of a race or gender because of the small percentage who make poor choices. Rather, we should focus on the positive aspects that the majority hold - just like your poem pointed out. Well done.
Response: Thanks. I don't usually write poetry but this seemed like a good opportunity!
Comment: What a scary story, Andrea! I admire how vividly you wrote it down. You are much more economical with words than I am: the brief paragraphs move the action along & really make your writing POP. Thank you so much for sharing it with me, and for hosting these cool swaps. Keep doing more, please! =smile=
Response: Thanks for the feedback. It's been therapeutic to get these memories down. Hope you're having a positive experience too.
Comment: I was truly touched by the tragic story, it does make one wonder doesn't it? So young and fair and then to be a wife. I just hope that her days with him were beautiful and she go to live a lifetime during her brief time with him. I really liked this swap and I loved your story, thank you!
Comment: Thanks for the nice note and I love the handmade envie. I will look into the book you recommended. It must really be something for you to have not liked it most of the way through and then to have that all turn around at the end!
Comment: You sent me a beautiful postcard, thank you. And the way you think of the color red--as cheerful and strong--was very interesting. I agree with the strong part, I'm unsure about the cheerful. To each their own! ^ ^
*laugh* You sent me another card! Though this one is interesting in a different way. :)
Response: Glad you liked it! I seem to have mixed up a swap and sent doubles to some and none to others! Sheesh. Gotta get organized. Thanks for the heart!
Comment: Eccellent story Andrea tho u always tell a great story. But a little disappointed you left end as you have. Would have loved some sort of end that kinda told me what revenge he got. lol
It takes nothiong away from great story just me i love a conclussion.
Response: I'm waiting to find out too! lol!
TY for the heart.
Comment: Thank you for the selection that you sent. I did find that postcard that you sent as ugly rather unattractive for a flower bouquet. Obviously, someone thought is was pretty enough to reproduce on a postcard.
Response: In the eye of the beholder I guess. :) thanks for the heart.
Comment: Thank you for the re-send, I Appreciate it, I loved every item and the book is very interesting I am currently reading it. You are right, lets move on, I hope we can be good swap partners in the future. Thank you so much.
Response: Thanks for the heart. That was nice of you.
Comment: I love the postcards you sent! The one with the building, I agree Huh?. The political one, the artist is my favorite editorial cartoon artist, I used to collect her stuff, the postcard is from the 2000 presidential election, the guy in red is Bush and the one in blue is Gore. Thank you so very much :D
Response: Thanks for the insighton the political cartoon. I still feel a little befuddled but, okay, different strokes for different folks, right?
Comment: HI, I must give you a heart for the pigs..it is rare that I get such a cute c ard with pigs..and I do
get the pun!!! If available for you, I would love to trade or pay for two more just like it..if not, then no worries...Thank you
Response: I thought they were cute too. I'll see if I can find more. Will let you know by PM.
Comment: I'm really impressed by the "story" you were able to write in your letter using so few lines and yet making certain that some of the odd words were perfectly at home and made absolute sense. You are a talented writer. I am very impressed and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
Response: What a nice thing to say! It was fun to write.
Comment: Your card arrived yesterday and I like it lots. I was especially liked seeing Georgia on there because that is my home state. I now live in Maine. Ther's no place like home. Thanks so much ! ~Gail
Response: I'm glad you liked it. It was a fun swap.
Comment: You liked the postcard because it represents a love of reading. I like it for that reason too, but I also like it because it is very "frameable" and that is exactly what I plan to do with it!!! You deserve many ♥♥♥
Response: Wow! I'm glad it will add to your collection.
Comment: Thank you very much for the Williamsburg postcards and the VA state map...It is different than the one that I already have...My 50 state collection is almost completed the way that I want it...Loved the po's of Williamsburg...
Comment: Hi Andrea,
Thanks for the funny postcard, I love how you tied the joke on the back and the funny on the front in together. Great job! Also I had to give you a heart for inviting me to join the writing group! Thank you so much.
Response: Thanks for the rating and I'm so glad you joined the group!
Comment: What a FANTASTIC package!!! First off, what an awesome surprise to discover that my partner was a "real live" (published) author!!! :) And everything you sent was so thoughtful!! Especially love the bag of writing prompts. The candles smell amazing, and I love all the RWA freebies!
Unfortunately, I can't get the CD to work on my computer... it just brings up a bunch of code, and a dialogue box pops up saying I've exceeded my page limit?? I'm going to try it again on a friend's computer, mine's pretty ancient! No worries though, thanks to your package, I'll have plenty to keep me busy (and inspired!) for a long time! Thanks so much, Andrea!!! :)
Response: I'm glad you liked it so much. Let me know if you continue to have problems with the CD and I'll see about sending it in another format. That one is in PDF.
Comment: Hi, Andrea.... You forgot to put the name of the swap on your pc, but I tracked you down! Thanks for the lovely card of Fort Monroe. I love VA and would someday like to visit the fort! Happy Days !! ~Gail
Comment: Thank you for the great package. I want to go to the Air & Space Museum and see the Apollo 12 capule and then I want to got to the Jamestown settlement. So many great things to see in Virginia!
Response: It's got a lot of history and fun. Can be hot and humid most of the summer but ... come on down!
Comment: Nope, I've never been to Fort Monroe. Did you send me two postcards? Either you did or I got another PC a week or two ago from Fort Monroe from someone else. I'm at work so I haven't checked in my room. Thanks for the PC!
Response: I guess I sent 2. (slap forehead with palm). Or maybe one was for another swap? It seems like we've been partnered before. Sorry I sent the same card for both. I'm sure you'd like some variety.
Comment: Hi Andrea, Thank you for the awesome frog postcard from Virginia. Cooling heels...ah but if the weather gets warm enough, I am so going to be next to the beach doing that very thing. Hope you have some warm cooling your heels days ahead too. Smiles and Best Wishes from Sandy in Washington state
Response: We have some nice beaches here! Thanks for the nice comments.
Comment: WOW! Lot's of videos.
The debate one I couldn't even understand those kids but my daughter talks that fast so she would do good.
I love seeing politicos and other strait laced folks getting out of character, makes them seem more like us regular people.
Comment: What a wonderful story of your experience on Inauguration Day! Everyone I've talked to is so hopeful and optimistic. I hope we can all maintain that attitude and really make some progress! I think we can.
Comment: thank you so much can't wait to read. Thanks for the awesome bookmarks. I collect author and library bookmarks and these are great. And thanks for the signed postcard I will have to check out some or your books sometime.
