Comment: Hi Nikki, Thank you for the awesome PC. I LOVE maps! I thought it was a riot that I just finished "Killing Patton." I read it to my husband in the car. He loved it, too! Happy swapping!
Response: It's a much better book than I was anticipating. Now I want to read the others in the series.
Comment: Loved reading about you memories of your grandmother. Especially enjoyed the part about the trip overseas - that was really special for her to have gone on such an adventure in her 80's. What a special grandma!!
Comment: Thank you for the super cute card and the nice note too. I remember the outhouses too since it was when we moved to Colorado from Kansas when I was 11 that our family of 8 had our first indoor bathroom. We thought we were in heaven.
Comment: Must have been fascinating to be in Denmark: I went to Canada with my parents when I was little and have been to Puerto Rico over a dozen times, but I've never traveled anywhere where I would need a passport. Thanks for the new word!
Response: At least you have traveled somewhere! I would love to travel to Canada or Puerto Rico.
Comment: Thank you for the extra post card. I will get the pc out in the next round. About your weather: You are lucky. It has been really cold here. Yesterday it was exactly no degrees. Happy Valentine's Day!
Response: You're welcome! It's been in the 80s and 90s this week, so definitely NOT winter weather.
Comment: I am pretty sure I rated for this as I wanted to know what you used to seal it...? I blame the season's craziness...and I musta forgotten to save. So, any way, many thanks for the cheerful card and sentiments and a big old Happy New Year to you as well!
Response: Thank you for rating! I used Modge Podge. It was the first time for me, so I hope it arrived in one piece :)
Comment: Hi Nikki! Thanks for the sweet pc! Your destination sounds lovely, as long as those roads stayed clear! LOL! Here we are starting to worry about flooding - crazy weather! Hugs and Happy Swapping! ;)
Comment: You know, had you not put the note in there, I would have never noticed that it wasn't store bought! You did an excellent job! Maybe you should think about selling cards like this online next year, it is really very nice! Thank you! Merry Christmas! <3
Response: Oh, I'm so glad you liked it! I had a little help from Microsoft Publisher ;-) It might be fun to make cards with matching handmade envelopes.
Comment: Thank you so much for the bears wrapping packages card. It is so cute! Wrapping presents is one of my favorite things about Christmas. I also enjoy shopping. My husband & I have been shopping every day since Thanksgiving night and the crowds have not been that bad. I guess more people are shopping online. I enjoy getting out to the stores and looking at everything. We even went to the mall Saturday and it was not bad at all. Have a very merry Christmas!
Response: I'm so glad you liked it! I avoid shopping after Thanksgiving. I don't enjoy the crowds and I'm doing mostly homemade gifts this year.
Comment: A lovely leaf drifted into my mailbox today. Thank you very much for such a creative postcard. Just one suggestion - and please don't take this as a criticism: Instead of covering your lovely artwork with tape, you can seal it with a layer or two of matte medium or Mod Podge and it will look more "finished" & artistic than a layer of tape. Would love to sit with you over a pot of tea & hear your tales of Cambodia.
Response: I had started with Modge Podge, but it didn't hold the leaves down the way I wanted, so I resorted to tape to keep it from being pulled off in the mail. Thanks for the tip! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
Comment: Hi Nikki. I apologize for the late rating. I thought this was done - perhaps I forgot to press the send button. Thank you for the postcard belonging to CoolBeans. I've sent it out in R42. Wishing you many happy swaps.
Comment: Hello Nikki! I received the envelope you sent me today! I'll be sure to pass on the postcard in the next round! Thank you for the extra postcard and the note! I love your personalized stationery so cute! ♥
Comment: Wow! What a fantastic set of cards--just for me! My absolute favorite is the owl--what an amazing photo . . . the ships are just plain neat and I adore the Kraft paper card--I've never seen anything like that one before. Thanks for joining and for sending such nice cards.
Response: You're very welcome! I have amassed quite an eclectic and unique postcard stash, so it's fun to be able to pass some of them on. I'm so glad you enjoyed them thoroughly.
Comment: Thank you for the cute card. I had a hard time finding a card with "earth" on it too. Yours works just fine. I love how we're getting to swap with the same people more than once. Seems like old friends. Happy Holidays
Response: I agree! It's been fun sending & receiving from some of the same people. It would be neat to keep it up throughout the year, maybe once a month :)
Comment: hi nikki! while i HAVE been to Vegas many times, i have never bought or received a postcard from there, so .....THANKS!! it reminds me of how great a city it is. and how great to have lived in Cambodia! it's definately on my "bucket list"!
Response: It was my first time to go to Vegas (at 40 years old!). Cambodia and SE Asia are definitely worth a visit :)
Comment: HOLY moly! I loved your package. It was full of goodies that I love. The scarf, the postcards, the giraffe box, Stewie! I mean everything was amazing. Thanks so very much!! <3
Response: Whew! I'm happy to have brought you so much joy. When I found the buttons and the box, I had a little squee of glee :D By the way, it was the PO worker who suggested the flat rate box, so the additional step of opening is all on her :)
Comment: Thank you for the joyful card. It was very creative with the gingerbread house on the inside. Thank you for all of the Christmas cheer you sent to my house! Just wait until you see the themes I'll come up with next year. I have a whole year to hunt LOL
Comment: I love the card and at first was so surprised because I wondered how you knew my DH's first name, but wondered who BJ was LOL It is great you found a use for the card so it wouldn't be wasted. Happy New Year!
Comment: Thank You so much for the pretty card. I love it because we feed the birds and squirrels, wild rabbits too and all 6 of these birds do show up at our feeders. My kitties sit in the window and watch. They so excited. Thanks again.
Response: We don't have bird houses at my house, but my mom buys peanuts for a pair of blue jays and keeps bird feeders filled for the hummingbirds and occasionally remembers seed for the other birds. I've recently seen a falcon a couple of times in my backyard, too! Glad you liked the card!
Comment: Thanks for the great card and note. Your mom sounds a lot like me. I have collected elephants for about 30 years now and I have way over 100 and my daughter keeps telling me I need to get rid of some of them. Which I do agree with her especially as people keep getting me more.
Response: I just think about what I'll be inheriting. The bigger problem is all the "gifts" that haven't been given.
Comment: Wow, you picked some awesome goodies for me! My favorite was the caramel sea salt bar! It was so yummy. I shared these treats with family, and everyone had their favorite. Thanks for being a great swap partner. :D
Response: You're very welcome! I'm so happy you and everyone enjoyed them.
Comment: Thanks for the beautiful card. I really enjoyed the note too. I am originally from Maryland and had cardinals at my feeders constantly!
Response: I don't know if I've ever seen a cardinal, but it's something my mom got excited about when she helped move my sister to Virginia. She loves the idea of watching birds out the kitchen window :) So happy you liked the card.
Comment: Wow! Welcome back to the States! I recently came back from teaching English in South Korea, so it's still a bit shocking when I can understand what's being said around me.
Response: I'm considering heading that direction, but will be hanging out in the US for a few months. I would imagine hearing English in S Korea would be much rarer than in Cambodia, at least in Siem Reap where I was. Thanks for the heart!
Comment: Thank you for hosting this swap, and it was SO nice to receive a pretty handmade card from you! Didn't expect that from this swap, and i really appreciated it! Very pretty fiber paper, cute stickers, and you have very nice handwriting! :))
Response: Awww...thank you so much! I really wanted to do some crafting this year, and that was the extent I could do with time constraints. So happy you loved it!
Comment: Your answers are interesting! How wonderful to be someplace warm at Christmas time. It's way cold in Chicago. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a wonderful visit with your family. Safe Journey back to Cambodia!
Response: Thank you! I'll be experiencing some cold in Indiana for a week, so I'll really be looking forward to the warm temps of Cambodia. Have a wonderful holiday season!
Comment: Thank you so much. I like your campaign to stop tourists from buying post cards from children. I had never thought of that as a problem.
Response: Thank you! The problem is not so much buying only postcards from children, it's that children should be in school and the adults should earn and children should learn. Glad you liked the postcard!
Comment: Speaking of cookies, we just ate a box of Specialty's cookies-- a scrummy bakery near Joe's work. They were huge, full of chocolate chips and real butter.
Response: Ah yes, cookies...a great love. I decided to do some baking this year as soon as I got home. I spent my 2nd day home whipping up batches of sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies, revel bars, peanut butter bars, truffles, oh yeah!
Comment: Thanks for the bridge postcard. When I was living in India I met lots of interesting people there through couchsurfing. They helped me navigate the real India. (Silly me - I posted this as a swap comment a moment ago. I'm just back from Atlanta.)
Response: Ah, the joys of CouchSurfing. I've been meeting so many great people, particularly from India. It certainly makes the world smaller and more beautiful!
Comment: It was fun learning more about you! I wonder if a "fresh" banana tastes much different than ones we get in the stores here?
Response: Definitely! Fresh bananas are so much tastier than the bananas shipped to American stores. Those are picked unripe and artificially/chemically ripened before they have a chance to develop the flavor naturally.
Comment: Nikki!!! They arrived! :D Oh wow - How beautiful are the bags? :) They're just so so lovely and I can't believe your lovely friend included the purses too - far too kind and generous! I know mum will be thrilled with them and probably will have a hard time parting with them...! Thank you so so much for agreeing to do this swap with me! Let me know when you're back in Cambodia so I can send you some more PG Tipps as a thank you! hehe! ;) You're the best! xxx
Response: So glad they arrived! I'll be back there by next week. My holiday in California is coming to an end :(
Comment: What an interesting PC. . . thanks so much! It always surprises me how many different types of palms there are and this is one I was not aware of so you've taught me something now and that's always a good thing! Thanks again ~~
Response: Palm trees in Cambodia have so many uses! From sugar to alcohol, and the wood is strong and great for carving or building.
Comment: Oh WOW! What an *amazing* parcel of goodies you sent me! I am in love with the scarf - my favourite colour! And perfect for the summer (provided we get one here haha!) :D The bag and purse are so special - beautiful fabric and i've had so many compliments already! I love them! I loved the postcard you sent too! Thank you again for doing this swap with me - you are so kind! xxx
Response: So glad you liked it! My friend was over the moon for the Royal Wedding things! She put the key chain on her keys right away!
Comment: I just got your PC today (3/21/11) and found it fascinating that the majority of the land is used for rice fields ~ that's hard for me to visualize! Thanks so much for the eye-opening PC ~~
Response: Rice is the primary grain in Cambodia. Any arable land that can be flooded is used for rice. Of course, there are other crops grown, including some large rubber plantations, but rice is still the main crop.
Comment: Thank you, Nikki! I received your resend today. I really appreciate you doing that. I feel so sad that the first one didn't make it. I loved the PC you picked for this one. It is the only one in my collection from Cambodia. Thank you again!!
Response: I'm so glad the second made it. Maybe the first one will eventually get there.
Comment: Hello Nikki !
Thanks for the beautiful postcard and stamps !
My parents went to Angkor and they loved this place, they said me there were someting "magic" there. For this reason, your postcard is a little special for me :)
Response: You're welcome! Such good memories for you.
Comment: Oh my god, thank you so much for this wonderful postcard. I never got one from Cambodia and I really love it. I would love to make a private trade with you (maybe with more than 1 card unwritten in envelope?!). Would be really great. Thanks again.
Response: Glad you liked it! Send me a PM so we can set up the private swap.
Comment: Thank you for the very cool postcard and your neat interpretation of "something old" as an old practice still in use today. I didn't know rice grains could be flattened like wheat! Very cool, thank you.
Comment: HiYa Nikki: Guess your latest move went smoothly. Thanks for the sunrise postcard of Siem Reap. It's certainly different from that b&w gem I shared with you last year. Ran across another article that I thought might be of interest: Driving Through Cambodia: A Road Trip Through Ruins and Unexplored Highways. http://travel.nytimes.com/2011/02/06/travel/06journeys-cambodia.html?nl=todaysheadlines&emc=tha210. Trying to stay warm as it is snowing yet again. Jennifer in Chicago
Response: Awesome! Thank you for the article link. I really treasure that postcard you sent me from before. It's being kept in my boxed of special postcards.
Comment: The little buttons arrived !!! They are adorable. So were the canes. I can't wait to try them on my nails and with clay projects that I'm planning to do soon. Thanks for being so quick to send and Thanks so much for agreeing to have this private swap with me. I love private swaps, they're always the best. =D
Response: So glad you liked them! I appreciate you being so willing to do the private swap, too. I look forward to the water cozy when it arrives.
Comment: First of all, I just wanted to give you my deepest thanks for sending me the Spega jars. Here I thought that, thanks to them being discontinued, that I'd never get the chance of owning one and it was such a sad thought. However, thanks to you, that thought has changed and I can't ever look at the jars without a smile being brought upon my face. They're so much more delightful in person than they are in a photograph and I just can't thank you enough for your kindness.
Response: It warms my heart that they're making you smile. I knew I kept them for a reason!
Comment: wow. out of all of those the scrabble tiles have to be my favorite. those are amazingly done and very reasonably priced. I think I'm going to have to get a few! thank you so much for sharing. :]
Response: I know! Aren't they great! I have ordered twice now.
Comment: Of course I get such a detailed, complete email. It's from the host! :) It's funny that I already had that Scrabble tile shop on my favorites. Oh - and I am falling in love with the address labels seller. I love the atypical shapes. Cheers!!
Response: I thought it best that I set the standard as the host. I have been looking forward to this swap for quite awhile. If only I could get every single one of my Etsy faves...
Comment: Thank you for the great postcard! I've been to New York 3 times and it is great to visit so many historical places. I'll be going to Fort Drum (not sure if that's where you went) next month for a friend's wedding. Can't wait! have a great evening! laura
Comment: Thank you! Sorry for taking a while to rate, I was trying to wait for everyone to send so I could rate all in one go but some people haven't sent yet. Your lists were very interesting and fun to read! Thanks!
Comment: Awwww - what cutie-patootie little baby jars. I'll add them to my stash for a while and hoard them carefully. They've found a good home with me. Rest easy! You packed them very well. Hope you have a good trip back to Cambodia later on. Take care and thanks for swapping w/ me.
Comment: Thank you for the great lists. The pet peeves - talking on cell phones is on just about everyone's list! I want to skydive, love salmon, read alot of books. Super impressed with your amazing Profile.
Comment: Thank you so much for the pumpkin-themed birthday gift! I ADORE my new pumpkin swag! :)
Thanks also for angeling the Happy Birthday Postcard swap - I wish I could rate you for that too!
edited 9/27: I just got the necklace from Etsy today! OMG! I LOVE IT! You are amazing -- thank you so much!
Response: So glad the necklace arrived! I am glad you are happy with everything. It's my pleasure to give you a happy birthday :)
Comment: Oh my goodness, your postcard is so inspired (the portholes with their steel hubs and rivets!) and inspiring. I want to cut shapes out of corrugated cardboard suddenly and paint on them too! Thanks so much for putting so much work into your PC, and my apologies for the late rating.
Response: I had started the postcard about a month ago and was just waiting to put the portholes on. That came after visiting my uncle and riding on his tug boat. Thanks so much! I'm happy you were inspired.
Comment: Thank you for the pc and the very though provoking question. Would Salem be known if it wasn't for the witch trials? I do not think so, but history may have included them somehow in some other way. One can only wonder. ;-)
Comment: I have heard of San Luis Obispo & the swallows that return every year. Your pc is very different from what I imagined. Thanks for the reality check! :)
Response: Actually, I think the swallow return to Santa Barbara, but we get Monarch butterflies here in Pismo Beach during the winter. San Luis Obispo is still very rural which surprises a lot of people.
Comment: I really love this postcard! The colors, the lines, the stippling on the sun, the floral hair, and the cat! Maybe it was sent to you in an envelope because it was meant to make its way to me in time? Because I really do love it. Every time I look at it I see something new. This is going either on my board or in my inspiration box. Thank you so much, I'm glad you chose to send it to me!
Response: Yay! I'm so glad you are enjoying it. It was destined for you!
Comment: love the notecards-esp. the Curious George! They are all very pretty & i know i will use them soon! Thx for the note too...i hope things work out for you and you end up where you want to be with the person you want to be with! Take care-happy swapping!
Response: The Curious George cards are so fun! I regret the day when I use the last one. Thank you for the wishes.
Comment: Interesting notecard, I loved the two versions of Mission SLO, I remember the bears - maybe they are just refinishing them. What an awesome PC of your town, no way I would have walked on a swinging bridge! I'll have to go see it next time I'm in AG. Thanks for sharing it with me.
Response: I just knew you'd appreciate them! Haven't walked on the swinging bridge? It's not as "swingy" anymore, but there's still a bit of bounce.
Comment: Normally, I only give hearts if a recipe postcards are new to my collection. For you, however, I'm rewarding your missives along with the effort you put into the swaps you sponsor. P.S. Do you still have recipe postcards leftover from your mother's stash? I'd be interested if there are any that I've not seen before.
Response: Thank you :) I'll send you a pm regarding your question.
Comment: Love, love, love the cards! This is what I love about swap-bot---the ability to share the wonderful places in the state where I live with someone who has cards to share from a place I'll probably never get to visit. Thanks very much for initializing this swap! Carol in Denver
Response: I'm glad you liked them. I have enjoyed doing private swaps because you have a better idea of what you're going to get! Plus it's fun!
Comment: Thanks SO much! I'm making Lilly wait to open the presents...she's sniffing at them but......And thanks for the human treat...I was craving chocolate and ahhh...it hit the spot. :) Thanks for making this such a fun swap!
Comment: Thank you very much for this lovely sunrise from Cambodia :) By the way this a very colourful card! Here we like to see sunset on Moorea, an island very close of Tahiti, very beautiful. Thanks again, bye!
Response: I'm sure you get to see lots of gorgeous sunsets there!
Comment: Thank you so much for the great brochures! You are quite the "activities director". I've never been to Cali but sure would like to go there, maybe someday. I really would like to visit Hearst Castle! Hugs, Karyn
Response: That's the part of tourism that I like, hosting people and helping them discover what's great to see and do in my hometown.
Comment: Wanted to let you know, I got the envelope but it was all split and in 2 pieces, your note was there but not one single card. It was put in an plastic bag by the post office. I am giving you a 5 because I believe you DID put the cards in, maybe the envelope was too tight and it split, I dont know. Maybe we will get assigned again. Karyn
Update- I got the new cards & I love them!! Thanks so much for resending, Hugs, Karyn
Response: How horrible! I think it must have been the handmade paper envelope. I will send off some more to you in a better envelope.
Comment: Thanks for the fun postcard! I wish we could wear flip-flops year round, but it is definitely a seasonal luxury in Ithaca.
Did you make the postcard? It's very cool! If so, were did you have it done?
Response: Check out www.vistaprint.com. You can order 100 postcards for free and only pay for the shipping.
Comment: Nikki, I received your envelope yesterday! Postcards are amazing, my favourite is the one with a boy & fish. Thanks also for the extra card. To think that it was written by a real Cambodian person! I showed it to my friends, they were impressed. :D
Response: You're welcome! I love to pass on the postcards my students wrote. They have such cute ways of saying things : )
Comment: Thanks for the interesting postcard and story =) It sounds like a ton of fun; I've considered teaching English overseas myself, and I'd love to hear your experiences with it (and what company you went with?). ^_^
Comment: Thank you for the wonderful postcard! Black labs are my favorite kind of lab too. My friend just got a lab mix from the pound and she is such a sweetie! She has tuxedo coloring, all black with a white chest and paws. Her name is Allie.
Response: I love "pound puppies"! My mom's Jack Russell mix has been the BEST dog ever! Allie sounds so adorable.
Comment: Oh my gosh - the postcards you sent me are fantastic!! I am so excited to add these postcards to my collection. I really appreciate that you used stamps on the envelope since I collect those as well :)
Response: So glad you enjoyed the postcards and the stamp!
Comment: Thank you for the lovely card. When my boyfriend brought up the mail yesterday he called for me saying you have to come look at this awesome postcard you just got. So thank you from both of us.
Response: I'm so glad you like the postcard. I enjoy sending the postcards from Cambodia. It's a nice surprise.
Comment: Thank you for the wonderful postcard! I love it. And I also love the stamps!!! I want to visit Angkor someday. As you said, Combodia is one of popular destination for Japanese. It's just so amazing. Love.
Comment: Thank you for the postcard. I have been to England. We didn't go into the abbey, too crowded! I did get my picture taken while in a parade with Big Ben in the background!! Have a wonderful day!! :)
Comment: Thank you for the Pismo Beach card. The Strawberry Festival sounds great. We have been getting some really good California strawberries this year. I eat part of them and put the rest in the freezer for during the winter.

Comment: This is one of the places in America I'd most like to see, but have not yet managed to get there. I've had the trip planned several times, but something always happens to change things! Thanks for the glimpse of its majesty and beauty!
Comment: I received your card and liked it very much. Although I have never been to Cambodia I am very much familiar with the South East Asian climate. I understand what you're writing about...
Comment: Hi Nikki,
Sorry I rated you the other day but I forgot to press the save button. Thank you for sending me your blog link. What a busy life you have already lead, I hope to one day when my boys are older to see the world.
Comment: Hi Nikki and Daisy! Thank you so much for Bebe LaRue's fantastic package!! :) She went crazy as soon as I opened it and even got the card in her mouth and played with it and loved on it after I read it to her - She is LOCO for catnip! She loves the toy and all the other goodies you sent - And I really appreciate the adorable nail file! Huge Thanks and Hugs from both of us! :)
Kim and Bebe LaRue in S.C.
Comment: Why oh WHY can I only give you one heart??? This package was exactly the pick-me-up I needed in the midst of a dreary, blah day. I LOVED everything, the tea cup is beautiful, the care and thoughtfullness you put into the entire package is supurb, my daughter opened the necklace and exclaimed, "Oh! This is beautiful mom! Can I wear it right now?!" THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
Response: You're very welcome. I'm so happy to have brighten yours and your daughter's day so much!
Comment: Good news, your package arrived.
Love the little baskets best. Great collection of items. I would love to see Cambodia one day. It has a tragic history and interesting culture from what I have read. it must be a facinating place to live.
Comment: Thank you for the GREAT postcard. I LOVE the Redwoods, although I haven't been for years. It is definitely a very special place! I have a photograph of our old Volkswagen bus going through the same tree about 15 years ago! My kids thought it was so COOL!!
Comment: What a terrific card! And I really liked how you doubled the amount that you wrote by changing ink color and writing upside down. Good idea! (I wish I had thought of that!) Thanks for swapping!
Comment: Startimg my post now with week 2...really cute post card! We used to live in N. Cal and it so reminded me of the little shops there! Hubby wants me to try your recipe over the holidays...mint and chocolate = yummy! Thanks so much!
One more thing...loved everything that you sent...thanks so much!
Comment: Wow! I really appreciated that you explained where each item came from--that just made everything extra special! I'm already using the bookmark, hung the fob in my creative space, stuck the little purse in my bag, smacked my lips with the gloss, written several notes with the red sharpie and have plans for everything else! I'm going to frame the die cuts (they are so intricate!) since they are so beautiful! This was a wonderful swap. Thanks! blessings, Gypsy
Comment: You have to laugh - the postcard has been here for a couple of weeks now and I have only just worked out that I need to take the label off in order to get the "joke". Except, as you say, it isn't a joke.
Thank you very much.
Comment: I loved your postcard that you sent me.
My sister-in-law and her husband moved back to Texas when they found out about the larger size house you can buy here in Texas for the same price of a small (about 1000 square feet) two bedroom home in L.A.
Comment: Girl that handmade card ROCKS!!!!! Thank you so much. Hope you have lots of fun traveling!!!
8/18--Got the California postcard today--what a nice birthday present for me!! You really didn't have to send a second card-after all the made one was so nice!! Wish I could give you another 5+heart for this one!!
Response: Glad you liked it. I'll admit I was biting my nails. A California one's in the mail now!
Comment: Thanks I like the movie "Tomb Raider", I know it was filmed in Asia but didn't know that it's done in Cambodia. Very nice. That's why I'm really getting more and more addicted to swapping, I'm learning a lot :-)
Response: Yes, parts of it were. There's a restaurant/bar called Red Piano in Siem Reap that still has a drink called Tomb Raider in honor of Angelina Jolie and the crew.
