Comment: The index card is absolutely glorious!! The zine and package of goodies and your sweet note put a huge smile on my face! You didn’t include a return address so Please msg me your address! I’d love to send you some happy mail - I feel like we could be long distance BFFs! ❤️😁
Dear Ali, what a wonderful surprise! Thank you so much for your lovely artjournal! I Really LOVED IT!!!!! The colours you used and also that you wrote personal stuff and told what kind of materials you used. I learned a lot from you. Maybe we can do a swap later next year! I'm so glad I received yours first, because it's my first real art journal and I'm almost halfway, but was in doubt if it would be enough! I'm so glad with yours. Just like you do I like some of my pages, but certainly not all!!! Again thank you so much!!!
Comment: Yes! I do say my name the same as your's! I enjoyed I got a kick out of your Vogue list zine because my favorite magazine is Harper's Bazaar (do you have that in England?) because of its wildly garish jewelry and fashion. I subscribe to it just so I can cut it up! I'd like to have a word or two with you mother-in-law. How in the world could she not want to adore and dote on a granddaughter. I want to adopt a grandchild because my daughter is taking too long! I had no idea there were venues like the Zine fest you mention. And I didn't know that Zines have been around for so long. Thanks for all the fun.
Comment: Thanks for the great zine! I love Flow magazine too, and get all the languages available, because each is different! Thank you too for the extras! I love Tim Holtz stuff! Hugs from Alaska, Sherry
Comment: When I first saw the envie with the British Star Wars stamps I was totally â¤ï¸Inn your swap ..and then saw and I loved the zine !! The postal box was awesome and the paper doll made me lol.. thank you also for the stickers
Comment: Thank you for the zine history as well as the two zines. I have only been making them for a short while and learned from the ones sent to me. My favorite thing is how different they all are. I really like your drawing of the mailbox and knowing about the gold ones. Thank you so much!
Comment: Thank you for the beautiful postcard! I will have to force myself to do that many layers - it's gorgeous. I always think it looks so cool with just 3 or 4 that I stop but I'll have to keep pushing! Thanks again!
Comment: 1000 times SORRY! for rating so very late ... :-( Besides I've had a really terrible cold I thought I'd already rated you. Now I'n feeling better I am cleaning up and (double) check. To find out I never rated you!! Thanks a lot for all the wonderful Alice in Wonderland extra's!!! I really appreciate it a lot! I'll try to make something special in your little art book!
Response: It's OK, I didn't notice, post takes a long time from the UK sometimes :-) Glad you loved it!
Comment: Thank you for sharing. I have a friend who spend every spare moment drawing and sketching in her art journals - she calls them "in-betweens". I myself never got around sketchbooks. I only use them for live model drawings... I wish you luck with your journals and hope you enjoyed the master class.
Comment: Yippee!!! You are my sending partner again! Ali, this book is amazing. AMAZING. Not only was it packaged beautifully, you were so creative with the contents. The trees are beautiful! You hand-drew so many elements! Love the nod to Phoebe's 'Smelly Cat!' and Madame Darkmore, The Evil Cat Napper! And your spell for the Cat Transformation! Love that the whole thing is so 'catty';+) If I owned a company I would hire you as the artistic director ;+) You're the best!
Response: This is like a review! I will hold you to the job :-)
Comment: Thanks for sharing, Ali! When I saw that your something happy in August was art-related, I had hoped for pictures! But there weren't any. Do you have any pictures of the art you've created that you could share? That's great that you were able to drop swaps to focus on your art. I wish I could do that and focus on my reading, but unfortunately, I only join those swaps that I REALLY want to do, sooo. . . :-/ Thanks again for sharing! :-)
Response: Are you on facebook? I post there in Dyan Reaveley's Society of Art Journaling and Dina Wakley's Media Tribe :-)
Comment: Hi Alison! Your one liners -journal is absolutely lovely, thank you for putting so much thought into it 🌹 I love the zine too, it's perfect! You are so creative 🃠I'm sending good vibes your way and wish you all the best!
Comment: Thank you for this amazing envelope full of lovely things. I am still swooning over the items and have to read everything properly this evening but wNted to leave a message already. Thank you. â¤
Comment: I'd loveto do that type of a journal but I'm too lazy :D I'd do maybe a month, get behind and never do it again ^^" I love the look of blown out art journals that have stuff spilling out so I bet yours look amazing!
Comment: My ex husband had picked up the mail and just barely got it. Best zine ever it couldn't have come at a better time just had surgery 2 weeks ago and this is a great little zine! I plan to follow the instructions! Thanks!
Comment: Hi Ali! WOW! This is an amazing parcel of purple. The way you put it all together is amazing--labeling each piece with a post-it--it made everything seem even more special. Now . . on to the goodies ;+) I am especially fond of those little children cut-outs in purple clothing and I am over-the-moon for the stamped tissue paper hearts! Everything is amazing and I noticed you packaged it all in a lovely purple envelope. Selfishly, I hope you are my sending partner in ALL future swaps we share~
Response: Thank you for the loveliest rating :-) Nice to hear your happiness!
Comment: I literary screamed "Jane Davenport!" when I spotted my envelope in the mail box. :) I love the colors and stamp you used. And love the washi you made. Thank you sooo much for everything and for the tips of what to buy and what not from JD.
I will try to keep in mind to do a swap with you once I am more settled in apartment I am moving in, I would say some point in September.
Response: I can picture your face! Glad it made you happy :-)
Comment: Ooh, a fresh zine to help fill! Thank you for the great idea and the letter you included. My first zine on this Zine-Go-Round died on the vine somewhere. Maybe someday years from now it will make its way back home. :)
Comment: Thank you for your lovely letter. I would love to reply to you but you have not put your address on it. If you want a letter from me please PM me your address.
All the best for the move and all the boxes 😉
Comment: Thank you very much for the wonderful envelope filled with goodies. I think you did a great job of finding items that suit me. Thanks for taking the time to ask about my likes and dislikes and customizing the package for me.
Comment: Sorry for taking a while to rate! It got buried in my email from spam :( Anyway, thank you for sharing! I imagine it's pretty noisy in your bedroom from all the construction! The spookiness at night sounds all too real. I hope you end up with good neighbors :)
Comment: I'm sorry you had to move, Ali, but I'm glad it went well (???) and that you found such a cheery picture to help you during this time! Congratulations on your new home! And thank you for sharing!
Comment: I am never disappointed to receive mail from you! Just frustrated by my own slowness to get back. We are well but busy and always a little crazy. I want to do something fun again, but unsure if Egypt/ Monster High are still favorites! Thanks for a lovely lettering job to admire!
Comment: What a super fabulous journal! I love the Taurus card with the birthstone, and the dino bone! There ARE lots of dig sites in the central states but not where I live, so that's a neat souvenir, thanks so much! Ksusha is adorable and so is your daughter! All of your little gifts and goodies made me smile. I hope to finish your journal soon! XOXOXO
Response: Thanks for the lovely rating. It was lots of fun to make :-)
Comment: Oh my god what an amazing parcel. Thank you so much for taking all of the time to put it together - I can't wait to write with you next year. One heart just isn't sufficient for the effort you have put in to this swap. I wish I could give you at least 100.
Comment: Ali, thank you so much for the wonderful journal. :) I am having so much fun going through it and it's definitely inspiring me to break out more of my supplies. (I've been in a creative rut lately.) I really hope that mine will turn out to be something you enjoy as well. And thank you for the Alice stickers, those are some of the cutest that I've seen.
Comment: Oh my gosh! First off, I love the journal itself, I've been wanting this exact one but have too many empty journals to fill first! So I was thrilled to see you used it. Your daughter sounds absolutely amazing. I'm always telling my boyfriend and family members to hold my crystals and they never get excited about them like I do. Now I know I'm not the only one who feels their energy! Thank you for all the goodies... the socks, the wing necklace, the Egyptian souvenirs, and the merlinite! I've always wanted merlinite but couldn't find any where I live. I also LOVE history and my biggest dream is to visit Scotland and England! All the museum brochures are neat! Thank you for sharing a bit of your life with me. I loved this swap.
Response: Thank you for such a lovely rating, I'm so glad you enjoyed it all. I had never heard of Merlinite, just the name sounds magical. If you make it over here one day, get in touch & I'll give you a list of places to go. You are so destined for Glastonbury! Glad we made you smile :-)
Comment: Thanks so much for the tree house that will never be :) I am not so fond of the damp, either, but I think I'll give it a go, as long as there is a way to get hot tea, and room for my friends at the hardware store ... painting kitchen cabinets this week :) Thanks so much for the Dr. Who stamps, my daughter LOVES you. Truly, she does :) She believes that Amy Pond is stopping by any day to pick her up and take her along. She just mentioned wanting a Dr. Who haircut. Yikes! I am from Tom Baker/ Peter Davidson era, and would never dream of taking on their haircuts, although Tom Baker is not so far from the current 'do -- time for a haircut :)
Response: You really made me laugh. I'm of the Tom Baker era too. I will keep your address in case I get anything else. There are little explosions when a new series is about to start and there is stuff everywhere.
Comment: I loved your journal! It was filled with so much stuff that I was amazed! Starting with the map journal, then lots of visual items such as maps, pictures, reciepts, daily ramblings and list of all kinds. I can tell you took alot of time and it was very creative. I would love to do a journal similar to yours, but don't think I am that creative! You rock girl! Also am sorry for such a late rating. Your journal has been on my end table since I got it in the mail! If only I could rate you much much higher!
Comment: Thank you so much for your lovely letter and great surprise. Finally a great book to write all the addresses of my penpals in. I'm really thankfull you decieded to participate in this swap and find myself lucky to got you as a partner. Are you interested in getting penpals?
Comment: I love your lists! And I think your daughter's name is beautiful. I laughed when I read that some of your favorite clothes were the striped jeans in the 80's. I loved those. I had a few pairs of my own. Thank you for the pence. I will put in my bag and hopefully it will bring me luck.
Comment: Everything was wonderful! :D I especially like the date stamp (I had one a long time ago but I think the 'years' ended in 2002 or something) and the pretty deco tape. The artist pen is really good quality too, I've used it a few times already. And I think you are right about the chocolates helping to make good mail art! Haha :D And I've even used the tip you gave me already too. Fantastic package, thanks so much! Stellar swapper!!! ♥♥♥
Response: Thanks for such a lovely rating. So happy you loved everything x
Comment: Thanks for the work you put into organising this swap! I know it's not easy. Even though you didn't add to my book, I thought I'd rate you anyway seeing as I did end up with your original journal, which was very beautiful and interesting. It's a shame you didn't get to work in all of them, but I understand life has to take priority =)
Comment: Hi Secret Terrabite! (Hi Al.) I love love love the mini art journal you sent. The "urban decay" stuff, and moaning about your Borders going away, is especially cool: I grew up in a big city, and live next to one (Washington, DC) now. I know about urban decay...and I think it's pretty cool to look at and take pictures of. So....super-duper! You keep havin' journalin' fun, OK? =grin=
Comment: Thank you so much for such a fat fun Moley! I really enjoyed this swap and I know that the Moleys have been a challenge for you as the host, so it was really great to end up with a full book that is so fun to look through! Here's to many more Moley swaps in the future! :)
Response: Yes, it really was a moleskine challenge in more ways than one LOL. Can't wait till I get a full book back to keep. It has been lots of fun and I'm sure we will do it again :-)
Comment: I received the completed moley!! I love it so much, it's the first fully completed journal I have ever received from swap-bot and I will treasure it forever! I owe you times a million for encouraging me to take up art journalling and being so inspiring, you're amazing! I love your style and creativity, and I love reading the quotes you put in too lol. I can't wait to swap with you again!
Response: I'm totally speechless. What lovely things to say, I'm glad you love it. And so happy to have inspired you. They are definately items to treasure, it's hard to post them!
Comment: LOL! Ali, your book definitely made me chuckle:) I love it! Yes for recycling and keeping the earth clean with our swap! <3<3 I probably could've done without the pacifier, LOL, but it made it all the funnier:) Thanks for doing this with me!
Response: I had to put it in. We called it a "dummy" which is also what we call someone being stupid LOL. Glad it arrived safe.
Comment: <3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3 thank you thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!
i love everything sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much. im so glad to have you as a friend.. ohhhh and your moley was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!! i love all my wonderful goodies! love love to you my dear friend!!!!
Comment: Thank you much for an amazing package!! Having managed to hold out til christmas, I had heaps of fun opening it! I'm pretty sure my new favourite thing is that little stencil, it's great. And those chocolate balls were so good, i'd never seen them before and as my sister said they were like a cross between an easter egg and an m&m. Thank you for all the zines, i especially loved the one you made about journalling =D Thanks for doing such a brilliant swap, i look forward to swapping with you in the future!
Response: The choc balls came out for xmas. Me and my little girl are so addicted and the money for them goes to charity for little kiddie wishes... so happy you love everything. Hope you had a fab day and Happy New Year!
Comment: Dearest Ali,
I don't think I've ever received a more thoughtful swap. Ever. You're journal is just so amazing, it makes me feel like I should redo mine and then send it, haha. You and Eloise are the most sweetest girls! I especially love all the additions that Eloise did! So cute! Every pages is full excitement and fun! I'm still not done with all of it, but don't want to flip ahead and ruin the fun! Thank you so much! I love the Momiji goodies as well! Yay, pocket mirror! I got completely spoiled rotten on this. I really appreciate your time on making this so special for me. Please let me know if you ever want to do a private journal swap (though I know you said you might not for a while) :) Thanks again! I'm going to treasure this forever♥
Response: Glad you loved it. But I miss it. It makes me not want to do any more journal swaps, I had a tough time parting with it.
Comment: I loved reading your journal. We have alot of things in common we both finsished our degrees I too, have not found anything. I too have panic and anxiety attacks.. I also have two little ones..
It was nice reading your journal.. I would love for us to be friends. Oh, and no, we do not all have air conditioning.. but mostly do.. ha ha..
Response: That's the thing with panic attacks you think you're the only one! Had one in the hairdressers this week, most awful. Congrats on your degree! It's a relief but you think "what next?" at the same time...
Comment: Alison.WOW I love your journal you did a wonderful job..It was the best I have gotten..Thanks for the pig I love it,I have a pet pig dasiy and she is all black so it's neat to get one all black most are pink. Thanks I wish I could give you many more hearts... I would love to do any journal swap private if you would like..Thanks again..
Response: Phew! That's a relief. It's the first one I sent to someone else so I'm glad it's OK. I couldn't believe it when I saw the pig after reading about your pigs in your profile. So happy it arrived safe.
Comment: Yikes! I just realized that I put your rating under someone else's profile. I'm SO sorry about that, especially after you sent such a fantastic package. Here's our original comments...
I was just admiring someone's Andre has a Posse sticker the other day. And then I got your package and now I have one along with a great parody of it too! Thanks for the great stickers!
Comment: It came! Ahhh so exciting! I was starving hungry when i arrived home and it was a tough choice between opening your package or eating lol, but i ended up compromising and doing both at once. But don't worry, i made sure i didn't get food on the book! I have yet to read it through carefully, but it looks very interesting! And it was in such good condition! I was expecting to be all dog-eared haha. I even managed to peel off the velcro without causing damage, although i was half tempted to leave them on because i thought they rather added character to it =) But thank you so much! And the little extras are excellent too. I'll let you know what i think once i have had a proper read over of it =)
Comment: OMG!!! totally amazing journal!!!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!!!! thank you so much!! I wanna do another swap with you .. I make these things called junk journals.. let me know if your interested! thanks again!!!!!!
Response: So glad you liked it :-) Yes, will definately do another swap - maybe at the end of the month? I'm about to go on hols. I'll pm when I'm back x
Comment: Hi, thank youf for great letter set. And also for the teabags:). About the ginger tea, I know many pregnant helps, but I cant even smell it. I got lolly pops with ginger which are agains being sick, but didnt help. Thank you:)), very nice of you, greeting to England
Comment: Woo! Just got your package today. I love every yellow thing you sent! The coin bag, the paint, the super-awesome t-shirt, and especially the little book from the graphic design degree show thing! That was really awesome! Thanks so much!
Response: Glad you like everything, I don't think you can go wrong with yellow! Happy it got there safely (and so quickly!)
Comment: Ooh! It was teeny and lovely and made me wish it had come with a tiny plastic magnifying glass! (It would be so awesome to see it larger-size, like digest or something. But such cool collage!!)
Response: Glad you like it! This zine is a teensy bit of a 10 x 8" printed book. You can preview it at www.blurb.com/user/store/terrabite It's called Workbooks 1988-2008
Comment: I had to smile at your grocery list. :) I'm working my way through your entries. Thanks. UPDATED RATING: I'm adding a heart because I finished your journal and replied to it. :) Loved your bed writing and insomniac musings. ;)
Comment: You deserve a heart because you answered those questions about that idea that you have a phobia about that you don't want to think about. Plus I like the purple writing. Some of your answers made me laugh. I don't like sports either. Thanks!
Comment: Loved your answers! Btw, I had an emergency c-section with my daughter because her heart rate kept dropping. On top of that she was early and extremely small for her gestational age. The docs gave her a 50/50 chance of survival. Now she is 24 years old and doing great!
Response: Thanks for sharing that with me. My little girl is 4 now and is so tall, it's hard to think she was that vulnerable little bundle!
Comment: Ali, I think this was not only the fastest swap that I have received but one of the best! Thank you so much, it's so me. Fantastic stationery, I can't wait to start using it. I really like your degree show postcard and I hope it goes very well. Nice to meet someone from the UK :0)
Melanie aka Finn
Response: Hi Melanie, Thanks for your comments and kind wishes. It is so great to "meet" someone in the UK!
Comment: Quality Street? I've never even heard of it. I love when I get food as gifts, but only when it's something I'll actually eat. If not, I usually re-gift it to a hungry friend. :) Thanks for the postcard.
