Comment: I opened all the envelopes and although you had sent some items for crafting, there wasn't any inspirational words, quotes, etc. as per swap requirements.
Response: That's too bad you didn't find it inspiring. The swap requirements didn't say you had to include inspirational WORDS. "The "what" is wide open to interpretation." So, I think materials and craft how-to's are more inspirational.

Comment: I have not received anything at this time. I did send a message on June 18 asking if she had sent it, hoping I would get an explanation of why it was late. I understand life gets in the way sometimes, yet it's common courtesy to let your partner know. I did not receive any communication back. She did mark it sent on June 21st. I will gladly change the rating when I get something. Updated 7/12/10 - While the cover for notebook is amazing, it does not meet the swap requirements. It was to be personalized, and all I have is a plain cover with no words or in any way personalized for me. It was also almost a month late. I understand sometimes that happens, but there was absolutely no communication from this swapper. Updated 7/18 I'm sorry you don't agree with the rating, but I stand behind it. I am in no way denying or saying that the journal isn't precious (as you put it). I DO know how long it can take to hand bind a journal, and I do appreciate all the work that went into it. The swap gave from May 25th to June 14th to create the journal. That's 20 days. I understand WHY you left it plain, yet the swap specifically stated, and I quote, "The idea of the whole swap is just to create the cover and personalised it with their names, things your partner like, etc. . . " If you were worried that I might not like something, you could have always SENT ME A MESSAGE asking. As I stated in the message I sent you on June 18th, and when I very first rated you a 1, then again when I changed it to a 3 on July 12th, if you had communicated with me in any way to let me know you were running late or had told me that you were hand making it and it was taking longer than you thought, things could have been different. The only communication I have gotten from you is AFTER you were unhappy with the rating you got. So, because it was sent a month late with no explaination and it did not follow the swap requirements, I am leaving the rating a 3.
Response: Unfortunately, handcrafted items sometimes take longer than expected to make. Regardless the delay should be understandable. I hand bound that journal. The journals I make are precious. There aren’t many people left that know how or practice bookmaking. The materials I used for your book were chosen for you. I wanted to keep the book simple so that there wouldn’t be an error of crafting something that wasn’t to your taste. I choose a color theme based off the colors you suggested in your profile. Hand binding is time-consuming and costly. I could have just sent you a store bought journal decorated with stickers or something--- that would have been cheaper and quicker. I would have done that if I’d known my work wouldn’t be well received. You should send the journal back so I can put it with someone who will actually appreciate it. And I will make something different--- as not to disappoint or be rated badly. That said, I still DID meet the swap requirements, so a 3 is an off-the-wall unfair rating.
