OK... I dropped the only open swap I was in, but I cannot still delete my account. Unless "open swap" means "send-by date not passed", I should go and try to find out which group has made me a founder. |

I suspect it may mean "send-by date not passed", even when you have already marked Sent. |

Hmmm.... there could be some issues... I will have Travis look over the code. The way it should work is: Open swaps for participants = swaps which are not marked "sent." As a participant, once you mark a swap as "sent" it should not prevent you from deleting your account. Open swaps for coordinators = swaps which have not passed the send date. As coordinator you must stick around until the send date has passed even if you have already sent. The founder promotion situation that @spinjenny describes above is an issue. I will work on making it so that you must approve promotion to founder positions. We really don't want people to delete their accounts unless it is absolutely necessary because it almost always turns into a mess. If there is any chance that a person may want to come back to swapping, we do not want them to delete their account. It seems that a feature that gives the ability to put your account to "sleep" for a while might be useful. It could be a way of hiding your contact and profile info while you are taking a break from the site. hmmm.... Rachel Johnson |

It would be nice to have some way of distinguishing between people who are suspended for a breach of rules and those who have asked to be suspended because they want to leave the site for a while or permanently. At the moment, it doesn't feel right that a good swapper who chooses to leave looks the same as notorious flakers, and people who don't know them can't tell who is which. Something like your "sleep" idea could deal with that. |

Your Rachel and spinjenny that sounds like super idea to implement for a sleeper mode. |

Yeah, that "sleep" idea sounds much better! I bet there are people who later think "oh why did I have to delete my account"... Actually, if it is possible for someone to hide - either permanently (as in deleting) or for some time (as in setting to sleep) - her address, it does make sense to have it possible only while she has no open swaps in the sense of sent-by not passed, because maybe her sending partners have not sent yet, and it is not fair to make some honest swapper be a flaker because her partner decided to take a leave. |

I'm not intending to leave in the foreseeable future, but just to clarify, what counts as an open swap? If you have already marked Sent, are you still forced to stay until after the Send-by date? Can you delete your account as soon as the Send-by date is reached even if you haven't marked Sent?
Also, I have a concern about the current situation with founders. Although I am not leaving SB, I am trying to cut down on my number of groups. When I went to leave one, I discovered I had been made co-founder without my knowledge, and as there is no way to demote myself, I cannot leave that group until the original founder does that for me, which is frustrating.
