What is a swOp? I see it a lot. I thought for a long time that it was a typo, and perhaps it is, but goodness, I like to think not that many people make that mistake that often...

"swop" is an alternative spelling of "swap" which is widely used in the UK and probably in some other English-speaking countries, and some people for whom English is a second (or third or ...) language will also have learned that spelling rather than "swap". Neither is right or wrong, and to many Brits it seems odd to see "swap" when they first join this site.

I think it's "Rocks!" with a little excited emphasis?

ellie1200 10/7/2008

Isn't Cheryl from TX or one of those southern states? It's not so much excited emphasis as drawl. :o)

So swop/swap is like realise/realize, color/colour and those such words, huh?
Fascinating....
I'm glad I asked.
