Description:

For me Halloween is the more fun time of year, it's a state of mind and a sense of dark adventure. The weather is finally calming down and the heat is dissipating; it's time for fun, costumes, horror, and maybe a bit of gore!

++++++++++++++++

To celebrate this wicked time of year we will be making one Halloween themed scene/shrine inside of a -250 count- matchbox. It can be gorey, spooky, dark, Dias de Los Muertos, pagan (please check w/ your partner first), Steampunk-ish....but preferably not cutesey (unless your partner requests it).

What will your theme be? A spooky forest graveyard? Zombie attack? A Vampire killing kit? A Witch's sorcery room? A murder scene? The sky's the limit...

Use any media you like, miniature dolls, trees, animals, photos, furniture, anything as long as it fits into the story you're trying to convey. Along with your matchbox scene you will also include a letter of a few paragraphs explaining your scene, your inspiration, and if there's a little story you dreamed up in your mind.

The outside, which also encompasses the sides of the drawer of the match box also need to be decorated to make it on cohesive art piece. Think total transformation!

Please ship these in small BOXES, not bubble envelopes because given their size, I would worry about their fragility and a huge crush-factor. Unless you're a pro matchbox shipper who has never had any problems with breakage or smush-age please head my advice about the box.

Here is the swap-bot 250 count matchbox pattern for your ease of work. Please use at least two layers of cardstock when building it for extra srength and durability.

Here are some other matchbox crafts from craftster.org to get your imagination flowing.

Let's celebrate Halloween with a spark! (Haha, get it? Spark?)

Love this idea, watch listing for now to make sure I can do a good job. Any chance of a 32 count version? I love working super-mini.

I didn't know there were 300 ct. matchboxes. I've only seen 32 ct and 250 ct. Do you know of a 300 ct. template we could use?

MadameCupcake 09/16/2011 #

I'm changng it to 250 ct because the 300 ct pattern link has gone dead in my bookmarks, but it's still a good size.

Sorry for the confusion!

@Katarina You could host a 32 count matchbox shrine and I would definitely join it :) I just have a lot on my plate with swaps, and work, and classes, but I love working mini-mini too.
