Oh, the serendipity of finding a corked bottle at the beach with a message from far far away.....

Well for this swap you don't have to go to the beach, just your mailbox!

Take an empty plastic bottle, fill it with a letter and whatever else you think your partner might like, and mail it naked to your partner.

Inspiration can be found here

Minimum requirement is to send a naked plastic bottle with a nice letter. Feel free to be CREATIVE with your CORRESPONDENCE! ...add goodies...decorate the bottle...whatever...

Isn't that an awesome idea?! Wow, I'd love to participate as both creating+sending and receiving parts sound super fun (and totally suit the group name, btw ;D). However, I'm pretty freaked out about how my local postwomen will react. I mean, weird looks and doubts (and maybe laugh :D) are guaranteed, I know, but what if they refuse to send the naked bottle after all?... Well, I really want to try it, so I'll most likely join the swap when it's closer to the signup date anyway. ;)

Oh, and I'm under impression vintage-themed letter would be just perfect for such an idea, don't you think? The inspirational bottles are cool, of course, but they seem to be just stuffed with the random stuff that could as well go in a packet. Vintage letter, on the other hand, in a bottle (never mind it's plastic) have something more common in my opinion. Well, at least I'd try to make my letter (and whole package) as old-looking as possible. :)

Thanks for this swap! Finally something really interesting.

That would be neat, @SoupLike to make it look like it has been bobbing around waiting to be discovered! Fun idea!

As far as the Post Office goes, you really can mail almost anything as long as it isn't dangerous and you attach enough postage. If you are really worried about being denied at the counter, make sure it is under 13 oz., find the correct postage amount at www.usps.com, and drop it in a box.

Whoops...didn't realize you were in Lithuania, @SoupLike

Maybe try to send a sample bottle before the swap to someone you know...

@FarStarr Yeah, I envy you guys that possibility to "mail almost anything" in the US. ;D One (more) thing I really like about this swap is that I've still got lots of time to get to know how it'll actually work, so I guess I'll take your advice and try sending it to somebody or at least go and ask my postwoman if they let me through with it later. :D See you!

Yayeee! I just got off the phone with Canada Post (and even though she must have thought I was half-cracked) the agent didn't see any reason why I couldn't mail a plastic bottle! Hahaha! I'm in! :o)
