Description:

Using the techniques from Tim's 12 Month's of Tags April tag example as inspiration, create one altered 2.5" x 4" size Rolodex card for one partner.

Use or simulate at least one of the techniques he uses. Also, there must be a bird on your rolo somewhere. You can follow Tim's design, or put your own personal creative spin on it and enjoy the creative process. Feel free to substitute supplies that you already have if you don't own the exact ones he uses. You do not have to use every technique he uses for the rolo.

Lightly decorate the back, so its not just plain card showing, and sign your name.

If you don't have real Rolodex cards, you can make the base out of sturdy cardstock and punch/cut your notches. If using real paper rolodex cards, make it sturdy by gluing several together as the base.

EDIT: Leave a comment either here or permanently on your profile to say if you have a rotary or a flat style rolodex file so your partner will know which orientation to sign the back of the card.

Does this also involve using the embossing folder technique? I just want to check to make sure I cover all the bases I am supposed to on my Rolo. He has a lot of techniques going on this one.

You just need to use his techniques as "inspiration" jumping off point. For example, if you don't even own anything that he uses, you can simulated it. For instance, if you don't own a dictionary text stamp, you can glue on a dictionary page for the base. If you don't own an embossing folder, you could, for example, squeegee light molding paste through a stencil using a credit card. If you don't have a bird die, you can use a bird image. You could draw the branch with Stickles...etc. etc. etc.

I hope that made sense. I added text to the swap description that says you only need to use or simulate one of the techniques, but you are certainly welcome to use them all.

Thanks, Sue! Looking forward to adding another one of these to my Rolo holder!

Sue, should the Rolo notches be at the top or bottom, or does it depend on the holder? If the latter maybe as people sign up they could state their preference? Great swap, I love this Month's technique. :-)

It depends on if you have a rotary rolodex or a tray type. The notches are always at the bottom of every card when looking at it from the front, but when it is in a rotary holder and hanging down (because you are now looking at the front of the next card in the file, but seeing the back side of the one we are talking about), you would want to decorate the back "upside down". Did that make any sense at all? I can take pictures if you need.

Yes, you can either leave a comment on your profile as to which type of holder you have, or you can leave a comment here.
