Description:

I'm fairly new to hand-carving stamps, but I am becoming addicted! Recently, I used a large eraser as my carving medium and it worked just fine.

For this swap, we will hand-carve a rubber stamp of any Chinese symbol or character. I don't read or speak Chinese, but I think their alphabet characters are so neat. It can be any symbol or word you want, but please be respectful of your partner's profile.

There are lots of examples of Chinese symbols online. You can find some here, here and tons of ideas here.

Guidelines:

  • 1 hand-carved stamp for 1 partner
  • must be 1 Chinese character or symbol, but can be 2 if you like (some words are made from 2 symbols; and make sure its not Japanese - maybe in another swap :)
  • minimum size - 1.5 inches by 1.5 inches (approx. 3.8cm by 3.8cm) So the finished carving should be no smaller than this.
  • can use carving medium of choice as long as its in good condition & will make a quality stamp (speedy carve, dollar store erasers, etc.)
  • can be mounted or not

Usual group swap rules apply & of course I'll check profiles before assigning partners.
