Description:

I would like to start a deco book swap. I know many of you may not know exactly what these are, but may have heard of them. Basically, it is a small book similar to a friendship book. Instead of just signing and adding your information, you would decorate a page in the book. This may be a drawing, a painting, a collage, or anything else that you would like to do. You would then add some information about you, similar to the friendship book. It is passed on in a very similar fashion as the friendship book it.

For this swap, you will make two deco books. You will make one book for one of your partners but send it to the other to start. Then you would do the same thing with the other book and send it to the opposite partner. Example: you make one book for partner A but send it to partner B, and then make another book for partner B and send it to partner A.

Make 2 deco books. Try to do the binding of them without using staples. I know this may be hard, but please try. If you are not good at learning new ways to bind up books, you can use staples.

On the front of the book, decorate it and write the name and address of who the book is for. On the inside of the front cover, write who made the book. On the first page, you will add your own piece of art. On the back of the page, write your information similar to what you would put in a friendship book. You can also use a little address label. Add any other information you would like to add on this page.

Please try to use a decent weight of paper. I have seen a lot of friendship books that use really thin paper. Try not to use this because there may be people who want to add a little paint to the book.

After you are finished, send it on to the next person in the next swap. I will try to run these regularly so that we can keep these moving along at a pretty good pace. Try not to put more than 10 pages in the book so that each person can possible get them back in a decent amount of time!!

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask away. You can message me if you have more to say. Also, you can find a lot of information on them here:

Decos 101

There are also a few pictures of some on this site of some different books as well as other information on them.

Most of all, have fun. Think of this as a friendship book with a piece of artwork to go with it! I will angel this swap if necessary, but I hope that we can all get these going!! Please, if you are going to be late for any reason, please communicate with your partner. If you need to rate down, communicate and try to resolve before a rating of a 1 or a 3. But, most of all, have fun with this swap!!!

Sounds like fun and would have joined but the time restraints beat me. I am off on holidays so I will have to wait till the next one. Have fun and will watch for the next one.

Hi there. I signed up for this great swap but was wondering if it is still a go as we are only 3 participants...

Looks like it will only be three people in this swap. I am good with that. I will assign partners first thing in the morning. I must get some sleep tonight. Work kicked my butt over the weekend!!!

Hi Melanie, Hope you slept well. I am up for this swap even though we are only 3. However, shall we make a book with less than 10 sheets as we are 3? I would suggest 4 pages? Max 6? What do you think? Priscilla
