Swap categories: Art  Artist Trading Card (ATC)  Challenges
Number of people in swap:71
Location:International
Last day to signup/drop:December 30, 2008
Date items must be sent by:January 31, 2009
Number of swap partners:2
Description:
  • International
  • See here for UK only swap
  • Swappers with 4.85 and over rating
  • 2 partners - 2 ATCs each

I will carefully check profiles before I assign partners so please be assured that I will not let anyone join the swap who doesn't fulfil the stated requirements

Now that Christmas is over and done with, what to do with all your Christmas cards? Cut them up and make ATCs from them, that's what!

Make 2 ATCs for each of your partners, using Christmas cards that were sent to you. Cut them up, use a bit of holly from one, a snowman from another, a Christmas tree from another, you get the gist...

Please make ATCs that you would be proud to receive, not just bits stuck on any old how, make them 'flow'.

Committed swappers with 4.85 and over ratings only, and no more than 2 overdue (i.e. not sent out on time) swaps on the day I assign partners. Also if you have not logged on in the last 2 days I will drop you. If you do not intend sending or rating, then please do not sign up for the swap.

Any questions, please ask.

I'm a bit confused. There is already a UK by you. Is this also UK or anyone in general that's willing to swap international?

missychrissy 04/17/2008 #

This swap is international, for absolutely anyone. If you're confused because of the blue bit saying "UK only version" in the swap description - that is the link to the UK only one.

I did 2, because I didn't want my international friends to feel left out if I did just the UK only one.

Thanks! This is the first swap that has given me this much time! :O)

missychrissy 04/18/2008 #

LOL!!! Yes, it is a bit early but at least you've got plenty of time to make them! And if you're like me, you've probably got Christmas cards left over from last Christmas still!

WhimsyGirl 09/25/2008 #

Great idea! I always hate to trash all those pretty cards, but am never sure just what to do with them. I'm apt to cut 'em up and start on my ATC's before Christmas!

Hi missychrissy, im so happy to see that you are doing this. I haven't done an ATC yet, but by the time we get to this swap I will know how to make them. So my question is what size do we require for the ATC's have to be? Im looking forward to this. Thanks. p:)

What is an ATC ?

Sorry, I´m brand new ;)

missychrissy 10/16/2008 #

Sorry, only just seen these messages.

The size of an ATC is 2.5" x 3.5", and you can do it landscape or portrait. All I ask is that you make them on sturdy card, not flimsy bits of paper where they run the risk of getting creased in the post.

@Carebear81 an ATC is an Artist Trading Card. If you google it you will see examples, also if you look on my flickr there are lots of them.

This sounds like fun, but I can't join. I.ve never been in a swap before.

I am a bit confused too, where do I send the cards, and if understand properly I make six cards? Sorry this is my first time here, also how do I get a rating? Lee in Aus

missychrissy 10/25/2008 #

Lee, you will find out your partners in January once the sign up date has passed. Yes, it is for 6 cards, 3 to each partner. You get ratings for swaps that you have participated in: you haven't done any yet so haven't been rated. If you want to join this swap, you should try and do some other swaps beforehand, as one of the requirements for this one is that you have a rating of 4.85 and over. As it stands I would have to drop you from the swap. Nothing personal, it's just to protect the other swappers. Hope this has explained it for you.

Hi, I too am new to swap-bot but am looking very forward to it. I know what an ATC is, but when you ask for heavy stock, just what do you mean?? I work for a printing company and we recylce cardstock bigger than 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 and wondered if that would work. It is 80# and 100#.

missychrissy 11/ 5/2008 #

Really, anything that is heavier than flimsy paper that will curl up or crease up in the post. I mostly use the card from cereal packets (covered both sides with either plain or backing papers and then decorated). They seem to be just the right thickness for them. I have had some that were done on ordinary paper and whilst they were nice, they had got somewhat battered in the post. I don't think 80 and 100 gsm will be thick enough. You could stick it to another bit the same thickness though and then embellish/decorate it. I'm all for recycling!

csparky61 11/ 7/2008 #

Actually 80 # and 100# are about the same thickness or thicker than a cereal box- I work for a printer so I have access to tons of scraps in many great colors that would work perfectly for ATCs. I never thought of recycling cereal boxes, great idea! As a newbie I am already signed up for 5 swaps, as soon as I can I plan to join this one.Looking forward to it.

I guess 80 and 100 gsm must be different to your card 80# and 100# then - it's definitely flimsy paper over here in England as I use it for inserts and the 80 gsm creases quite easily.... Good luck with getting your swaps done so you can sign up..

csparky61 11/13/2008 #

I just found a conversion chart on line and an 80# stock in Us is equal to 218 gsm.I think it will work!

missychrissy 11/13/2008 #

oh yes, I should say so! plenty thick enough...!
