Description:

This is a swap for a Traveling Journal. The journal is not about traveling, but it does travel.

You will create a journal about any PG 13 Theme, and over time your journal will travel to other creative swappers on Swap-bot. Each player will complete a 2 pages spread minimum based on the theme you have suggested.

The original starter of the journal is the OWNER. The owner retains the right to the started journal. The journal will be returned to the owner after many swaps and players.

As in all swaps there are some rules.

  1. You may not alter, delete, remove, or make a negative comment about other Players work in the book.

  2. Because we want to be sensitive to all players, and want all to play who want to, I want to make this a safe place to create. Please no Nudity, Sexual themes, Gore, Blood, Occult, Wiccan, any Religion, Zombie, Vampires, War, Politics, Holidays, Violence, Animal cruelty. Gee I know what themes are left? I am sure you can think of something.

  3. Owner needs to put their name, AND SWAP-BOT NAME, plus address, email all that contact info on the inside cover or back cover.

  4. This is NOT a Wreck this journal, so please use care when creating.

  5. You have only 2 weeks to create and mail the journal on in the next swap. So don't sign up if you cant find the time to create in this time frame.

  6. All Players must use Delivery Confirmation/Tracking to mail these journals. You must post the DC number, and date mailed in the comments.

  7. You are expected to write whose journal, and its theme in the comments each round. As a safeguard, I will be posting a list of who has who for partners so everyone can keep track of where their journal went next.

  8. You, as the player, may use any creative medium to contribute to the theme. Painting, drawing, collage, essay, postcard, magazine images, printed text, recipes, wikipedia, hand written info, poems, poetry, up-cycling, etc. No bio hazards or perishable foods.

  9. Each player needs to sign their pages, with their swap-bot name, real name, date, and city.

  10. Please do not smoke around the journals.

  11. You must participate in future rounds, meaning you must work on the other players journals. Please do not think you can start a journal and we will pass it around for you, If you do not participate, we will return your journal to you, incomplete.

  12. You must communicate with me the coordinator if you have any trouble including mailing late.

  13. Write or put a post it note on the last page. Write Save the last Page for me! This page is for the owner to write about their returned journal. So do not write on the last page.

  14. Owner needs to make an introduction page: Telling players about their theme, and any suggestions. This is where you indicate whether or not you want players to add things to your cover, etc. or direct players to a sign in page etc.

Please post Questions in the comments.

I will be checking your profiles. I reserve the right to ban any players who seems over committed, slow raters, bad swappers, excuse makers, drama queens, liars, Just plain rude or picky people, etc. Those who go to Walmart wearing yellow sock with flip flops, and crocheted bikini, a Thong no less!

NOW go create your starter Journal, so you are ready to mail off soon.

Need help with themes? Cats, sunflowers, dinosaurs, Coffee, tea, John Cusack, the 80s, "Your favorite ......" Tell me about....., The end of the world as we know it. A color, the Letter W, flowers, Elves, mermaids, horses, bikes, fish, dolphins.

How to rate. We are not rating on creative ability, but you rate your sender a 5 for sending you the journal on time, as indicated by the postmark.

Ok if you live in the desert and your mail gets deposit in an ice kayak, and they come once a month to pick up your outing mail via helicopter, this might not be the right swap for you. These journals will weight over 13 ounces and will not fit in a blue box mail slot. But these will fit in your outgoing mail box, please do not leave these outgoing journals in your mailbox over night. Do you get what I am saying? Dont mark it mailed on such a date, but say that it took 4 days for the mail carrier to pick it up. Mail on time, and in a safe manner, using Tracking. In the same vein, do not mark someone down for saying they mailed on the 21st and then the PO stamps it the 22nd, that can happen. How, it sits in my carefully watched outgoing mailbox, my mail carrier picks it up and heads to the PO by 5pm, and they dont handle my package til the next day.

Will this swap always be listed under this name, so it's easy to find for future rounds? Example... your turn in my art journal #2 or round 2? I always want to join these but don't know if the swap will stall out in future rounds, leaving my journal stranded somewhere!

AZmom875 12/26/2013 #

It will be best, to keep the swap name the same for round 2 and so on. I will be recruiting some players later this week. If you know someone who does Journals, and you have had a good swapping experience then invite them. If anyone recruits someone, I will mail a surprise. The person must claim that you invited them.

I have a plain store bought journal I can decorate. Can I use that instead of making the entire thing by hand?

AZmom875 01/ 1/2014 #

Yes, it is your journal, make it from anything you want.

PrairieKittin 01/ 2/2014 #

My journal has been made so the pages can be easily removed and put back in. If someone prefers a different type of paper, or a magazine article, or whatever, please feel free to add your own pages. Thank you!

How many rounds will there be? Basically how long will my journal be out there?

AZmom875 01/ 3/2014 #

It looks like so far we have an interest of 9 players. So about 8 rounds. about a month each round. 2weeks to work on them and two weeks to mail them.

just sent my book to midteacher tracking # 9405503699300202303434 . If you send them priority in a flat rate envelope they are only about $5. As long as you can close the envelope you can ship it in one.

PrairieKittin 01/15/2014 #

I have @midteacher 's "Flower" journal.

queenelisheba 01/15/2014 #

Just to confirm - I have finished my 2 page spread in @PrairieKitten s journal, and I am to ship it to my partner, correct? I have not sent mine out to my partner and thought it best to send together, but wanted to confirm to whom to ship. Thank you!
