Description:

Who doesn't like getting new recipes to try? I know that I do! I thought it would be fun to start an alphabet series for the group so we can start a collection of recipes on rolos. I'd like to make it an easy swap, there would not be an extensive amount of work to make each rolo. Since the alphabet has 26 letters, if I only did one letter a month, it would take over 2 years to complete the collection, and that seems to be an awfully long time to me, so I'm thinking that if we did 3 rolos per month, we'd be able to finish our collections much quicker.

This is what I'd require: Each rolo would represent one letter of the alphabet, the recipe would be written on the back; on the front you'd need to have the name of the recipe, plus a picture that represents it. The picture can be drawn, cut from a magazine, or clip art. That's all! Of course the rolos would need to be neatly done, something that you yourself would like to receive.

If anyone has any other suggestions or ideas for this swap, please feel free to post them in the comments below. .

I'm making this USA only because I've found that international recipes often use ingredients that may be difficult to find here, and also because of the use of the metric system of measurement. If any of our International members would like to start the same swap, go for it!

A good source for simple recipes that are in alphabetical order is here: http://www.myrecipesource.com/index.php

(The pic is of a regular 4x6" card, just to give an idea of how it could look)

So i Have a ? since you have done almost a whole series of recipe indexcard swaps...... Would MEXICAN CORNBREAD be counted as an M or a C swap? Or could it me made for either?

Susi 04/16/2014 #

It would count as M, the first letter of the first word is the letter you are using! Here is a great source for recipes that has them all in alphabetical order.

http://www.myrecipesource.com/index.php (I don't know how to make a clicky liny, could you tell me how?)

Speaking of rolo holders, I need to get one for 4x6 cards! I have got one for each of the other sizes, but not for the big'uns!

I forgot to say, You're Welcome! I hope this swap gets a lot of participants, the more recipe sources, the better, don't you think?

I THINK I WILL JUST KEEP THESE IN A METAL RECIPE BOX, I WILL BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR A VINTAGE ONE ;-)

Do you guys have a good link for rolo patterns or do you leave the bottoms cut straight across for the receiver to cut? Want to make sure I do it correctly.

anrtist 05/29/2014 #

I send patterns to anyone that will send me their address ;-) I have mailed almost 200 ;-)
