Description:

The August 2014 Fandom in a Mini Bag swap is Star Trek.

Step 1: Please list in the comments your favorite characters, series, moments, episodes, movies, etc.

Step 2: After partners are assigned, check to see what your partner likes. You can follow-up with a message if you need to know more. Then scrounge up, buy, and/or create items that fit in a bag. Your bag must contain at least 5 different types of items although more is certainly encouraged to make your bag look full of goodies.

Some ideas of themed items: stickers, ATCs, postcards, toys/action figures, comics, note cards, pins/buttons, magnets, jewelry, trading cards, legal music CDs, charms, ornaments, bookmarks, address labels, plushies/stuffies, promo stills/autograph cards, fanfic drabbles/ficlets, etc.

More specific ideas: com badge, Starfleet Academy stickers or acceptance letter, lists of your favorite episodes/quotes, recipes to feed into a replicator, Earl Gray tea, ship blueprints or little models, tie-in books, holodeck program list, a small red shirt, "alien" vocabulary word cheat sheets, an ode to your favorite rule of aquisition, etc.

Be sure to check your partner's profile so you don't send anything he or she might be allergic to.

Step 3: Put the items in a ziplock-type bag. Size: 1 quart (AT LEAST 8.5 inches by 7 inches or 21.5cm by 18cm). You can decorate the bag or incorporate the bag into something (mount it or sew something around it). If you want to make or buy a bag instead of using a ziplock plastic one, that's fine as well, but it should be at least a quart in size. All items you gather or create should fit into the bag (if a couple are too big, that's fine).

Assemble your bags during the month of October and please send by the deadline (October 31)

Group rating rules apply. NO FLAKING ALLOWED! All flakers will be beamed away to the most boring planet in the galaxy, never to return.

My husband and I collect Star Trek items of all sorts, so there wouldn't be anything that I wouldn't like...there may be something I have already, and that's okay. My favorite characters are 7 of 9, Dr. McCoy, and Jean Luke Picard. I love the old classics and the newest movies. I'm excited about this swap!

the original series is my favourite, LOVE SPOCK. huge fan of the new movie reboot. happy to receive anything from TOS, TNG, or the new films.

My favorites by far are Star Trek TNG and the reboot. I have a special soft spot for Picard, Riker, Data, Geordi, Barclay, O'Brien & family, and Wesley. I'd love anything holodeck related or anything in the style of TNG (acess panels, terminal display styles, datapads, etc.). I like Q a lot as well. I recently rewatched the whole series (which I do at least once a year) so I'm in a TNG mood still.

Reboot-wise, I love everything. And I adore Benedict Cumberbatch. Just saying.

I love DS-9 (especially Jadzia Dax, Bashir, Odo), Voyager (especially Nelix, Kes S1-S3, the Doctor, and Harry), and Enterprise (especially the theme song, Archer, Trip, Reed, Sato, and Phlox). I like TOS, but I'm really not into it at all. That being said, one of my best friends LOVES Spock so anything Spock-related could easily be given to her as a birthday/Christmas bonus present. And I do love tribbles (I wear tribble slippers at work).

Would love to see you get creative... a list of holodeck programming available at Quark's, sample Starfleet Academy entrance exam questions, Christmas ornaments, stuffies, ATCs or zines with favorite quotes, etc. Handmade or store bought are both great.

Extra request: I'm in computers by profession and have a small section of my geeky shelf devoted to sci-fi ship engineer action figures. I have action figures of O'Brien, Geordi, and reboot!Scotty already. I'd love ones of the other engineers if you can find them cheap somewhere. But no worries if you can't. Just thought I'd mention it.

While any Star Trek will do, my absolute favorite is the very original with Kirk, Spock, Bones, Scotty, Uhura, Sulu and Chekov. Even though it only ran for three years, what a phenomenal cast and show! I also love all the aliens they met over that time, as well as the movies that were made (my favorite is IV, where they came back to earth and saved the whale, but were really out of their element against the current Earthlings!).

I have to admit, this may be because I love anything mid-century. It also may be because I've seen more of that version than any other version of Star Trek. I've seen quite a bit of Picard's Star Trek, but not much of any other aside from the original.

Logical Spock and very Scottish Scotty are my favorites among that cast. Oh, and Kate - tribbles! Wasn't that a remarkably fun episode?
