Description:

Summer reading lists abound this time of year. But there are some lists that are required reading -- for students!

Head to your local library, retailer that sells office/school supplies, or your local school division's website. Find the Summer 2015 reading list for high school students.

You'll send your partner a copy of that list, but there are two twists:

a) identify all of the books on the high school reading list that you've personally read.

b) Identify one book from the high school list that you have not read but commit to read before summer's end. Tell your partner which one it is and why you've selected it.

Super easy. Waiting for partner assignments is not necessary. Just go find the summer reading list for your local school district.

The goals: see what's required reading these days ... and read!

I'm making this a USA only swap because I don't know if other countries have summer reading lists for students. International officers, feel free to post a duplicate swap for your country. U.S.A. Group membership. Snail mail.

Hmm. I don't think my local district has a required summer reading list for high school students. If they do, my kiddo is in trouble! :) Any suggestions on where to find a list from elsewhere?

GooGlenn search 2015 summer reading list for high school. Districts all across the country will pop up.

I thought the lists were SOP for all schools. My experience has been just virginia, Pennsylvania and Ohio though.

I am way too excited about this. I couldn't find any lists from my area that I liked (they were all pretty narrow towards specific classes like English Lit or American Lit), but I googled like @Artistic mentioned and a ton popped up. I found one in New Jersey (I live in WA) that had lists for every grade K-12. Don't worry, I'll focus on the high school lists, but my partner should be forewarned that there may also be some younger audience books added to the mix.

A packet went out to my partner today. Enjoy!
