Description:

This is an entirely new swap for this group---altering any kind of box or tin with a lid and not less than 3"x 4." You must alter it using at least two genuine Tim Holtz products: Distress Inks, Distress paints or stains, hardware, paper or other suitable products for your altered box / tin.

I will be posting some Pinterest or other "How To" links to provide some inspiration for your project, but you can also do a Google or Pinterest search for altered boxes and tins to get your creative juices flowing. Your box must be at least 3" x 4" but can be any shape---several hobby shops have cardboard boxes this size and up in various shapes from hearts to squares, rectangles, and more.

You will also fill the finished box with a few Tim Holtz items or substitutes such as: keys, hardware, ribbon, old lace, photos, or other smaller items from his paper pads or other decorative items. Do not go spend lots of $$$ to get these items----use genuine Tim products that you have and substitutes that you already have, AND you need not send more than 3 items.

Hi! I was planning on using an Altoids tin for this project, but just measured and the measurements are just under 3x4". Is an Altoids tin acceptable, or do I need to look for something else? Thanks.

Paula---I am so sorry I missed this question----It would have been in the middle of the days for moving, closing on sale of our house, and having a special meeting with builder of our new single story house.

An Altoids tin would be fine---but you've probably gone on and made something else. I know now to include Altoids tins as acceptable OR the small box; I just didn't want someone to receive an altered match box for this swap. Again, sorry I missed this.

No worries! I got a cardboard box from Jo-Ann to alter. Going to the P.O. this afternoon to mail it, in fact. I hope your move went smoothly! :)
