Description:

There is a snail mail version of this swap, but I've had a request for an email version as well, so here we go! :) Join one or both - which ever works best for you.

For 2021, I've been asked for monthly reading challenges. I created Forum post for the group that lists the whole year, as I have it worked out so far, if you'd like to look ahead, or add suggestions and ideas.

January (is a terrible month) has a few themes, but with the Golden Globe and Grammy awards falling in January, I thought we could try a Movie Tie In book. So, a book that has been turned into a movie or TV series. For example, "Outlander" by Diana Gabaldon - it was a book, then turned into a TV series. I'm not going to be super picky here (it's just not my way), so if you want to read "Hamilton" by Ron Chernow that's fine. And, if the movie hasn't been released yet, but you want to read the book, that's ok too.

If you have any suggestions, please feel free to post below to help with ideas for group members. Include the author if at all possible.

The swap After you have finished the book (or gotten close!), and your partners have been assigned, please tell your partner:

The author and title of the book you read. If the movie/show is different, please note that, if you can.

Why did you choose this book? (just 2-3 lines is fine)

Have you seen the movie that has been made from this book? If no, do you plan to see the movie/show? If yes, do you think the movie/show followed the book well?

Do you usually like to read a book that has a movie/show made from it?

Is the book ALWAYS better than the movie? :)

You can read a print or ebook, listen to the audiobook - it's up to you. YA and even middle grades books are fine with me for this too. If you can't finish the book before the send by date, just answer the above questions to the best of your ability and send off to your partner. This isn't a class, you're not getting graded, and I'm not going to 'make you' read a book! :) If you don't like it, that's fine. If you can't finish it, that's fine, but do try to read enough to answer the questions. (You do not HAVE TO watch the movie/show! If you want to, that's great, and please feel free to comment, but it's not required.)

If you have any questions or comments, please send me a PM! I will reply as soon as I can.

I'm still working on the list for the rest of the year, and my current working list is posted in the forum. If anyone has ideas for topics (especially for months like August!) please let me know.

Please check out the forum! :) We don't use it much, but maybe we can share some ideas. :)
