Description:

Here's an easy, inexpensive to mail swap - as felt pins/brooches (unless they are really big!) can fit in a regular envelope with double postage. it's a swap particularly aimed at members of Swapping for a Better World, but is open to everyone. It is intended for us to honour our partner's social conscience and to find out about each other and the opportunities that exist out there to make a difference.

This is an Canada / US swap open to swappers with a 4.5 or higher rating and no 1's or 3's in the past 3 months. Newbies are welcome with complete profiles - please message me first to show commitment. I reserve the right to ban folks that set off my flake alarm.

You will have 1 swap partner and you will make and send them one felt pin/brooch based on a social action, charity or cause that your partner supports. It is expected that participants put some care and effort into the item - nothing that is just a felt strip twisted into a ribbon, threatens to fall apart on the first wearing, or requires the new owner get a tetanus shot. ;)

After signing up, participants should post in the thread below, the causes that they support (e.g. fight against breast cancer, the humane society, habitat for humanity). Please avoid causes that you know may be contentious (e.g. pro life or pro choice organizations, political groups) and offer several choices if you are unsure.

once partners are assigned, come to this thread, find your partner and pick one of their causes. Seek out enough information to understand what it does and then make a felt pin that their partner can wear to show their support.

With the pin, the sender should include a note that describes one of their own favorite causes and why it is near and dear to their heart.

NOTE: This swap is about community and about respect. Please come to it with a generous spirit. No fights will be tolerated. If your partner posts organizations that you fundamentally can not work with, you are responsible to contact them and seek a common ground that you can support instead. If the partner that has you contacts you seeking an alternative common ground, don't grill them about why they are asking, just work towards it.

Cheers!

I would like mine to represent breast cancer awareness and support or Phoenix Rescue Mission which feeds and shelters homeless (sorry if that one seems like a challenge, the "ribbon" color for this is purple, if that helps) :)

I support general social justice, tho I am particularly interested in matters related to health and gender identity. Environmental justice also interests me-- how people who have less money often live in areas picked for huge incinerators, dumps, factories, etc. Hmmmm.... I also want the Chesapeake Bay to be protected more! Let me know if you need more info or ideas. This is one exciting idea for a swap-- thanks for organizing this!

Glad you like it, InjeraMuncher!

I'm a very outspoken feminist, and am also very active in Kiva. Either of those would probably be my preference, but if that doesn't work for you, I also am involved in Habitat for Humanity and am dedicate a portion of my income to the Terry Fox Foundation, and the Daily Bread Food Bank, aand am active in a good number of causes involved in international women's justice, especially in India.

Cool idea!

I'm involved with the Alzheimer's Association (their symbol is the forget-me-not, and color is purple, if that helps) and Habitat for Humanity.

When it comes to gaming headsets, you’ll want to look for one that is comfortable, has great sound quality, and offers features like noise cancellation and surround sound. One of the best gaming headsets on the market right now is the Logitech G935. It’s wireless and comes with 7.1 surround sound, so you’ll be able to hear all the action around you. It also has a long battery life and is adjustable, so you can get the perfect fit. https://intentgaming.com/best-earbuds-for-gaming/

This is an interesting post, I enjoyed reading it. The content on https://www.ajoure-men.de/technik/apps-spiele/mehr-follower-auf-tiktok/ is similar to it and it well written. Must check out!
