My DH and I moved to Alaska in waves, first he came up in 1996 to Anchorage, to work out in the villages with ANTHC, then I came up in 1998, and started work "In The Valley," and we built our house out here on Amook Island. We worked in various jobs, on the mainland, using all our free time, in between deployments and work, working on the house on Amook. We traveled every highway, in Alaska, to the end, as well. We moved to Amook Island/Larsen Bay, permanently, in 2011. We go to the City of Kodiak 3-6 times per year and Anchorage, once a year, now. We love it here!
Hello from Another Alaskan!!! :) just read your note on my profile :) Oh man we would drive to Anchorage quite often - 2 of my aunts and their daughters lived there for awhile. We would all meet up and drive out to Portage for sledding down the glacier and made sure to get our dunkin' donuts & Jams when that was around :) Fun times! Lived over in Dimond area for a few years too...Now we don't got to Anchorage much - we head the other way to Valdez every end of summer for salmon fishing :) less people hahah :)
