About Me

About Me

23 year old female.

I am an avid postcard collector and i like to put them up all over my walls.

I like watching foreign films...I'm always interested in any suggestions.

Grey is my all time favorite color, and all of its shades. Orange, Black and Yellow are my other favorites.

I find myself particularly fond of lion artwork and statues for some reason.

I've also been playing neopets for 6.5 years.

I put pictures of my swaps on my flickr, so if you are my partner and want to be surprised, don't look! =D

I rate based on the quality & effort put into the craft swap. I do appreciate extras, but I rate for the actual swap itself and award hearts for that.

Same when I'm sending, I do my best and send out work that I am proud of. When i add extras its because I had something I think they would appreciate and enjoy, but not just because I want a heart. I do love getting hearts, but like them based on what I sent for the swap and not if I did or didn't put extras in.

All that Jazz

Crafts

Drawing, collages, stamping, statues, drawings, ink outlines

I have a slight obsession with pens and markers. I always go to the pen isle in every store just to look and wish I had the money to buy one of everything

Television

House MD, Six Feet Under, Lost, Project Runway,

(I am a HUGE fan of netflix for being able to get different seasons of shows w/o actually buying them. DarnHBO for selling their shows for $80 a season!)

Books

Anything by Tamora Pierce & Judith Tarr & Anne Bishop

Wilbur Smith and Sara Douglass are some of my other favorite authors.

I read mostly fantasy and fiction specially historical fiction (NOT ROMANCE novels). I love a ton of books, too many to type at the moment.

Movies

Hero, Gladiator, Sleepless Town, Too Tired to Die, The Hard Word, Infernal Affairs, Eastern Promises, Lord of the Rings, Better Luck Tomorrow, The Motel, Last of the Mohicans, The 13th Warrior, Twilight Samurai, Dumb & Dumber, Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls,

I like a good range of them, but I mostly stick to action, Drama and comedies.

I might repeat myself in this section, but I mean for this to be a quick list instead of having to sift through paragraphs.

Likes

-The sea, anything to do with sea life and that sort of thing. Any body of water really but the sea is my favorite.

-Lions, lions in art and statues. Cats in general.

-Dragonflies and Sea Horses / Sea Dragons

-Grey, Black, Yellow and Orange are my favorite colors. I also like purple.

-Postcards! Art/statues/landscapes are my favorite. I collect them and put them up on my wall.

-Pens, markers, sharpies...I'm a junkie for these types of things. ha ha

-Diddl stationary, especially Galupy and Vanillivi and the dark sheep.

-Pictures of Statues

-Ancient History...of anywhere

-Fun stationary

-The flat rectangular magnets that museums sell

-Mermaids (male and female) I like their mythology and I love seeing mermaid art.

-Stamps from foreign countries.

Dislikes

-Not really a fan of Kawaii things

-I don't celebrate holidays, because of my religion, so if you could kindly not include anything holiday centric that'd be great!

I'm not too terribly picky (at least I don't think so) but if I'm your partner for a swap feel free to ask.

Comment: Thank you for an incredible journal! If I could give extra hearts, I could; your entries really went above and beyond, I felt. And two CDs! Thank you! =) P.S. I'd totally hang out with Nefertiti, too! =)

Comment: Hello Cayleigh, Thank you for the incredible chunky page you created for the "7 Continents of the World Chunky Pages-South America" Swap. I appreciate greatly your patience and understanding with my slowness in getting your rating done. I just love what a creative way you represented Peru--especially the Andes Mountains. The ruins are great and so is the woman dressed in typical attire. I have really enjoyed this swap and you have done a great job hosting it. I look forward to putting the book together and sharing with other. I look forward to swapping with you in the future. Until then, Happy Swapping!!! Barb sleepingrover2010 P.S. Thank you for the Canadian Chunky Page you made for me for the "7 Continents of the World Chunky Pages-North America" Swap. I like how you use photos for the back drops of your chunky pages. Thanks for angeling this swap.

Comment: YAY FOR DINOSAUR FOSSILS! PS - I totally want to go to Chicago. I have penpals there and it seems like an amazing city. Did you have a wonderful experience there?
Response: I did have a great time. Was only there for the weekend, but managed to do a lot. I'd definitely recommend one of the double decker bus tours cause they take you all over the city, can get on and off and walk around. The only thing I still have to get used to is paying for entrance at museums since DC has me spoiled for free museums. ha ha. Navy Pier was a lot of fun also. lol

Comment: Girl, you are so on top of everything! I wasn't expecting to get the chunky page at school, thank you for that! Made my day because it's my first mail here hehe. The page is wonderful, I love how you have your own picture in the background. Really brings a place like that to life since I've never been there. Wonderful!! Thank you :-D
Response: Wow, that got there so quick! Sometimes the postal system amazes me. Super pleased you like it, if you ever get a chance to go to Niagara, it really is amazing. Hopefully from now on your school mailbox stays full with fun stuff. I started back swapping and stuff in college cause I hated going to an empty box all the time! ha ha.

Comment: Thanks for your well organized reading log. I'm glad you started putting in the writer's name. Being a writer I get upset if people don't notice my name. Happy reading in the coming year.

Comment: Hello Cayleigh, First of all, I wish to extend my apology for how long it has taken to complete the rating for this swap. I look forward to adding your beautiful Greece Chunky Page to my ever-growing and ever-changing Chunky Page Collection. More specifically, I look forward to adding it to my 7 Continents of the World Chunky Pages Series. I really think the addition of the Greek Link around the border and the Greek words background adds a lot to the chunky page. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Barb sleepingrover2010

Comment: I too am a fantasy fan! I love the quote book. And my favorite quote which was illustrated for me by an artist 30 years ago was the one All who wander are not lost. Thank you thank you. I just finishes reading ariel by Boyett. Very nice unicorn, post apocryphal fantasy. I so rarely find someone else who enjoys that genre, tat I was caught off guard. Thank you!
Response: Cool, thanks for the book recommendation! Will definitely look into it. I'm very happy you like the quotes I picked out for ya, and have tons of fun adding your own. =D

Comment: Too cuuuute!!! I loooooove the Porcupine in a Pumpkin Patch. That was just adorable! The Don Quixote was perfect considering my drawing skills are almost exactly like the Picasso painting haha. Brilliant idea to use pipe cleaners to make a Rooster! I would've never thought of that. Thank you so much! Hope you're able to wait for the next set, might have to wait til after the holidays.
Response: Thanks! I think this has been my favorite set so far! =D I was going to use feathers but then thought i didn't have the patience for that but I really love how it came out. I will be eagerly waiting for the next set for sure, but after the holidays is a-ok for me.

Thank you so much for angeling the N. America chunky page so I can finish my book. It was very nice of you to do that.

Doodlebabe on Jan 14, 2010:

Sweet! I'll for sure let both of you know. I can't wait for all this craziness to settle down. Ack! I want to be swapping again!! TT_TT

Doodlebabe on Jan 13, 2010:

Could we set up a private swap sometime down the line for one of the South America pages? I've got a ton of papers due between now and two weeks after the due date (arg). But I want to finish this booooooook!!!!

seussscat on Dec 31, 2009:

Glad to see you are in the book swap as well. I haven't been on here in a while! Last year my crafts fun dipped alot but when the new year starts, a new year of crafting fun for me as well! Including fun packages to you :)

Doodlebabe on Nov 6, 2009:

Hmmm...good point. I think I'll go ahead and post one of the swaps now and see how we're doing time wise once that's done. If there's more than enough time between due date and the holidays I can host two before the holidays then wait. If not I'll just host the one and let everyone know that once the holidays are over we'll finish up. Thanks for the input!

Doodlebabe on Nov 5, 2009:

Hidy howdy Cayleigh!

I need an opinion: With the holidays would it be wise to speed up the alphabet series and do 4 letters per swap now (the last one would be 3 letters but this would reduce the number of swaps left) or keep the usual 3 per swap and just wait out the holiday period so that no one is bothered with it?

Now to get going on those Europe pages...gah!

Doodlebabe on Oct 12, 2009:

Alphabet Chunky Pages M-O are up! I can't wait to see you there :-D

Doodlebabe on Jul 7, 2009:

Just so ya know, we've got about 2 other people right now who missed the A-C chunky pages. If ya wanna swap both of them are interested in private swaps. In case you're interested ;-)
