About Me

Hi there! My name is Ryan. My family and I live in upstate, NY. Delhi to be exact (pronounced Del HIGH). We are located on the outskirts of the Catskill Mountains, between Albany and Binghamton. About 3 hours from NYC.

I am one of those rare male quilters. Well, I guess, not so rare any more. I've run into so many since discovering the BLOG!

I am the father of 2 young boys ages 4 years and 8 months. My wife is a scrapbooker. We just converted a second livingroom to a new quilting/crafting studio. We both work full time and most of our creative ventures happen after 9PM when the kiddos are in bed.

I didn't start quilting until my mid twenties. I'm 29 now, so that's not too long ago. At the time my first son was due to be born in a few months and my wife and I had decided to make the curtains our self for our sons room. Now I'm not sure If my wife was not feeling well or I was just on a roll with the painting and putting together of the room (I can't stop myself with the projects sometimes) but I ended up making the curtains. They came out well, and I must have gotten the bug! I've been using the sewing machine ever since!

Favorite Music

I like pretty much everything from classical to pop. Recently I've been on an 80's rock kick.

Some of the most listened to artists on my ipod: Heart, Bon Jovi, Steve Miller Band, Aerosmith.

Favorite Books

I like to read mysteries and horror/thriller. I am a member of the Dorchester Publishing Leisure Horror Book Club. Some of my favorite authors are: Stephen King, Kathy Reichs, Patricia Cornwell, Faye Kellerman, Brian Keene.

For a break from all things horror, I am currently enjoying the Elm Creek Quilts Series.

I can't get enough Kathy Reichs. I devour her novels as soon as they come out.

Favorite Television

My wife and I are total Food Network Junkies. Our favorite shows are: Barefoot Contessa and Paula's Best Dishes.

We also watch Bones, CSI Miami, The First 48, Intervention (anything A&E), Scrubs, Fringe, Six Feet Under, True Blood, any classics like Green Acres, Pettycoat Junction; shows from my childhood especially.

Favorite Crafts

I enjoy quilting and craft making in general. I'll pretty much try anything.

Happy Halloween!

Thanks for the shop recommendation! I stopped in there yesterday. Nice store. I managed to muster up some restraint and walked out with only one pattern and a package of fat quarters. :)

Hi, I was just reading your profile since I joined your Lotto and coffee/tea swap. I know exactly where Delhi is. I'm about 1 1/2 hrs., if that, away from you. My Mom was born in Bloomville and I have a cousin in Delhi. Linda Davidson(Carl). Have you heard of her? I'm in Beacon, just south of Poughkeepsie. Ruth (ruthann46)
