It was a busy last few months, but I'm back and ready to have a little swapping fun! - indygirl
Art, Craft, Jan Karon's Mitford Series, Non-fiction, Business, Fav mag "Cloth Paper Scissors" I have a large collection of cookbooks, theater books/plays, Christian books, business books, art books, and craft books.I am usually reading several books at a time, mostly non-fiction.
A Room With A View, My Life as a Dog,(original w/subtitles) I also love Fantasia, Toy Story and other great animation. Wallace and Gromit crack me up.
Things that "contain" - boxes, envelopes, compacts,
painting,
Zines,
Digital art and photography,
paper arts,
recycled art, vintage art, altered art,(including altering furniture and clothing)
Light - I know that sounds wierd, but I'm a theater lighting designer and LOVE the non-tactile sculptural art of light.
diarama's- I've been making cool ones and adding a "light-up" feature.
I also paint - watercolor, acrylic, water based latex.
I've always loved paper and ribbons, and lately, with the trend of scrapbooking and card making becoming popular, I just love all the new "stuff" - even if I don't scrapbook.
Theater mole,
spiritual- I try to live by the saying that John Wesley pronounced: Do Good, Do No Harm,Love God with all your heart. I don't mind receiving religious items.
I Love change and am always looking for new arts and adventure.
Love reading, writing, zines, and working on art stuff in my studio.
Entreprenurial(Realtor, vintage and colletible shop, have sold artwork and crafts, freelance designer)
Community minded,(that's local, regional and the world community, too), Antique and vintage collector, seller and trader.
Although I'm trying to have "waist management", I love good chocolate and can't wait for the Easter season so that I can find the cadbury caramel eggs!
Married to a wonderful man since 1993. My sweet husband is many years my senior, and though he loves seeing me working in the studio, I'm not sure he really gets the whole "swapping" thing. Anyway...if I'm in a DH swap of some kind, he loves interesting ties, all things golf, is a graphic artist, loves salsa and jazz, is of Puerto Rican heritage, and is the sweetest, most thoughtful man I've ever met. He also loves wine, martinis, and cooks like a dream. (How lucky am I?)
No smoking, animals(too heart broken after our dog died a couple of years ago) or children (went through infertility treatments for several years with no luck) at our home. I do, however, keep a toybox in the closet for little friends who visit:)
Best piece of advice I ever got in school: Feed yourself well - your whole self - heart, soul, eyes, ears...everything. Surround yourself with things that inspire you.
I've collected penguins and frogs for years(mostly small pins and such),and also have some whimsical pigs,(some with wings), sheep and other sweet little beings, poking about in our home.
I collect hand thrown pottery and I collect interesting pitchers.
I Like to bake, and would love to learn to make those wonderful crispy outside, light and airy inside breads that I had in NYC and in Europe.
Have way too much fabric, even though my sewing skills are pretty basic.
Like to do art/craft swaps because it forces me to go and be creative, even when I don't think I have time.
I've started uploading pictures of my swaps on flickr.com at the swap-bot swaps group.
Allergic to some perfumes,so I just steer clear of most scented items.
I love well thought-out projects and art work. I work hard to make my swaps special for my partner, and hope you do to.
If I'm your swap partner, you will probably get your swap early. I can hardly wait to get started most of the time, and usually am one of the first to send.
Also, please let me know when you get your swap from me. When there is no rating or e-mail, I get worried that it didn't make it. I always send and I always rate. Thanks:0)
Likes: If we're swapping something with a scent or flavor I prefer the "clean" kind - neutral, citrus, peppermint. If it's sweet treats, I'm a chocolate, caramel or dried fruit kind of gal.Teas I like them all, especially herbal. Coffee, too. Hot or cold.
When it comes to color, I really like them all- pastels, bright, primary, muted: you name it, I like it. Can't say I'm a big fan of those '80's pastel tuorqois and coral combos, but in the right situation - who knows:)I've always liked the combination of teal and green.
Gots: I recently closed my antique booth and I have lots of "vintage" - tea cups, textiles, bottles, some clothing, hostess ware, glassware, on and on.I used to buy at estate sales. My booth was shabby chic/vintage chic (not so much oldy-moldy antiques). So, if you want to do a swap where you get those kinds of things, just let me know.
I'd like to learn to weld and the finer techniques of soldering.
I'd like to be a part of a group that met to explore, using the arts, some of the bigger questions in life .
I'd like to learn mysql and how to build a database driven website.(although I think I'm gaining ground with some new tutorials I've found online)
I'd like to learn to quilt and how to knit and crochet with a steady hand rather than the misshapen fiber mistakes I usually end up with.
