When I saw your Gnome ATC swap it reminded me of these old dutch book (i dont read dutch lol) i had as a kid, "The Secret Book of Gnomes" they were illustrated really well but a bit too adult/earthy for a kids book, I was like five. But that book was what the tv series was based on even though i never watched it, i did love the original and the english books that came out after the tv series became popular :)
