Comment: YEAH, we both recommended Amie & Jay's 'Illuminae' series to our partners! I've been a big fan of them for years and I highly recommend their books. Have you read Amie's and Meagan Spooner's Starbound Trilogy series - another good combo!! I hope you like 'Spinning Silver" it is very good too. Ash & Bramble just got added to my TBR list - thank you. xxMuggleMom
Response: No, I haven't heard of Starbound Trilogy. I will have to check it out. I just finished Spinning Silver today. I loved it! Happy Reading!
Comment: Hi Sharen! Thanks for sharing about your reading in Feb! I am always looking for a new read so will have to check out your recommendations! Wishing you all the best and please stay safe! Hugs, Happy Reading and Swapping! ;)
Comment: Hi Sharen! Thank you so much for the sweet Valentine's Day card, goodies and book recommendations! I love the card! I will have to check out the books as well! Hope you have a lovely Valentine's Day! Wishing you all the Best and please Stay Safe! Hugs and Happy Swapping! ;)
Comment: 11 books is definitely a great number. I always love to see when people are reading very diverse genres.^_^ I also read Fahrenheit 451, but somehow I didn't like it as much as you. I didn't really understand the last part. But the general concept definitely gets you thinking. I can't imagine a world without books.:o!
Comment: Thanks for your summary. Books with spies or WWII are a bit hit or miss for me but that one sounds quite good. Years ago I read a book by Rhys Bowen from the Molly Murphy series and enjoyed it. I think it was the very first one and I don't think I realized it was going to be a series at the time. Take Care :)
Comment: I hope it doesn't just keep bouncing back and forth between us! What are the odds? I do love this PC, though. Such a cool image. Thanks for the lovely note. Things are getter better here, thank goodness! Your quilt sounds gorgeous! I have never had the patience for quilting, although I love the. We are delaying in person classes here for the time being. As a former high school teacher, I can't imagine how this can be done safely. I hope we can look back on this whole thing soon!
Comment: Thank you for the card. :) I don't think I could leave my books in color order like that, rather than subject or author but - it's pretty to look at! :)
Historical fiction is another favorite genre of mine, but I've read a few too many, I think. And mysteries are my very favorites! I haven't read The Downstairs Girl, but it sounds good! I hope you enjoy it. :)
Comment: Well, if I didn't have to sleep or get tired, I'd probably open an all night bakery/coffee house since I love to bake (it's why I'm round). I'd cross stitch more, read more, watch more tv. Learn how to do the stock market...I could find all sorts of things to do. Congrats on the new grand! Loved the question and answer.
Comment: Thanks for the gorgeous cavern card!! :)
Aww! Siblings ARE our best friends, aren't they!?!? I have older siblings to! My oldest sister is 22 years older than I am!! *GASP* lol
Hugs and keep on keepin' On!!
Comment: Thanks! Your quote reminds me of something one of my yoga teachers likes to say: cultivate within yourself the qualities you want to see in the world, then bring those qualities into the world around you. <3
Comment: I received your recipe card today. It just so happens that this is my first year planting rhubarb! So I can use good recipes for how to use it! The recipe seem simple enough - I am sure to try it once my rhubarb is ready for picking:) Thank you.
Comment: What cute paper clips! Thank you so much for joining this swap and for the adorable paper clips! I enjoyed reading the card and found it interesting about that One Sheet Wonder Cards, I'll have to check them out. Also, thanks for doing your part and making those masks, that has to be a full time job. What a blessing you are to others! Stay safe and enjoy your day!
Comment: Thanks very much for the postcard with the stack of books on it. Very cool and some interesting titles. Good your library is opening. I sure miss ours and hope it will open soon, too.
Comment: Hi new friend!! Thank you so much for the beautiful note card. I'm so excited to write you back!! I don't wanna write too much here because I wanna properly reply in letter form. ;v; But thank you so much for the prayers for me and my mom, that means so much to us both. You guys stay safe too, please!! And congratulations on being a grandmom-to-be!!!
Comment: Hi Sharon/Allylu! Thank you very much for your nice postcard. Good for you sewing face masks. That's such a great thing to do! I have never really tried audiobooks much. Maybe I should try them. All the best! Cathy/Writercat
Comment: Thank you for the Paris card. Yes, I went to Paris during my honeymoon nearly a decade ago. Paris is not the same when I went. It was exciting and wonderful to be there. I hop you go and enjoy your travels, when safe to do so!
Comment: Thank you for taking a chance and making your first ATC. Just make sure to check your dimensions before mailing to ensure your card is the correct size; there are ways to fix it if it is off. Also, if the swap calls for the ATC to be mailed in a plastic sleeve of some sort, it should be.
Response: Okay! There's so much to learn. Thank you for helping me!
Comment: I love this postcard! My daughter once left a book outside and it got rained on, so we had to buy it. It was a kid's cookbook with a cupcake on the cover. I may never forget the image of it sitting soaked on the back deck. lol
Comment: Thank you Sharen for sharing your neice's poetry . Yes you must be very proud of your niece for publishing this book . I have had some poetry published in a book but not my own book if that makes sense so good on her, Blessings, karen.
Comment: Just got back from a trip and my pkg was waiting for me. Thank you so much for my very pretty cloth.Your so lucky to be getting a granddaughter. I have 4 grandsons,so guess I will just have to wait for a great granddaughter.. Thanks again and happy swapping
Response: I feel lucky just getting the one granddaughter. We didn't think we would have any until now. Thanks for the rating and I'm glad you liked the cloth.
Comment: I love how you spell your first name and also the meaning behind it. Thanks for sharing that with me!
Response: The maternity nurse argued with my mother about the spelling, but she stood her ground. She didn't want me to be confused with the Steel Mill. I love it - I did the same thing with my daughter.
Comment: Sharon... Thank you for the PC :-) I haven't read Tolkien since high school. Although, I did listen to the audio book on my way to work about 12 years ago. It took a lot of trips to work, but certainly made the morning drive more pleasant! I hope you are enjoying the Two Towers. <3
Response: Finished Two Towers - now I'm starting The Return of the King and I AM enjoying it so much. Being accountable for one chapter a day has made all the difference.
Comment: Oh my gosh, partners again! Thank you for the postcard and the suggestions --- fun fact, I couldn't get them/unjumble them, I did try though. What were they?
Response: Hey Partner!
They were the books I was reading and my favorite classic:
Lord of the Rings
I think that's all.
Until next time...I'm sure there's going to be one!
Comment: Sharon, Thanks so much for the Amish PC. It's amazing you sent that... I spent the day with my cousin and his wife yesterday, and they are Mennonite (his dad, my uncle is a Mennonite preacher)... It was really nice to see the picture on the postcard. Haven't been to PA for about 40 years... but loved it when I was there for a few days. You need to get that soup and molasses cookie recipe and pass on to me!! Good luck with the birthday card you want to send (fingers crossed) :-)
Comment: OOH. I had to look up the book when you said it was so popular, and now I'm curious if it is a true story, or based on one! I will have to check it out. Thank you for sharing and the tea! I love lavender :)
Response: I guess it is not a true story, but the author has plenty of experience with the wildlife in the Marsh. Her life story is also interesting.
Comment: Sounds like a great recipe! I will try it:)
Also I love your dinner at moms each week! I think more famliies should do that. I try but not once a week more like once a month. I love when the family gathers. Thank you for the recipe.
Comment: Thank you Sharen for those amazing photos of the food. I put on weight just looking at them.!!! If by any chance you are feeling generous and would like to share some of those recipes by email I would enjoy receiving them. Thank you for sharing your non fiction books with me. I enjoy reading non fiction all the time. Happy swapping.
Response: My son is amazing. As you can tell, I am really proud of him. He found his niche in life. I just happen to have those recipes nearby. I will send them on to you. Thanks for the rating and the heart!
Comment: Thank you for days 1-5 of the tea swap. The packaging is so pretty. Great job!!
Response: Thanks. I'm making a wreath for mine out of cardboard and scrapbook paper with Christmas clothespins all around the outside to hold my tea bags for December. i better hurry up and get it done! Thanks for the rating and especially the heart, of course. Merry Christmas!
Comment: Oh gosh these fabric bags are lovely! Thank you! I cant wait to open them in December!
Response: I just happened to see them and it was easy. I didn't make those, but I have made fabric bags for our family Christmas presents, too. So much easier than trying to fiddle with paper and they're cute. Thanks for the rating and the heart! Merry Christmas!
i love reading of your non-stop activities (nice card + stamp!)... i have have lots of admiration for those busy crafters that keep
the needles (& hooks) creating for charities :) i hope you find a way to clear the blurriness soon & enjoy the sparkly glow of holidays with family, books, music, yarn (& MORE) ahead!
Comment: Thank you. Placed it in my "Santa Mailbox" for Advent. Updated 12-9. Added a heart. thank you for a lovely note inside my Christmas card. You gave me some good recommendations on Netflix and I will look them up. I LOVE the santa postcard, the washi sample and the tag. Much appreciate it all. I hope you are enjoying these Advent swaps as much as I am. Peace and Love--Michelle
Response: I have decided to do that, too. I have to look for a basket. Thanks for the rating! Hope you enjoy the contents of your Christmas Card.
Comment: Oh heck no, why I mind another swapper from PA.?! I love it when I get a chance to~! Am used to it too, having been here on swap-bot since 2008. But thank you very much for the great selection of bookmarks! Love them! And, By the way, Welcome to swap-bot!
Response: You’re welcome! Thanks for being so friendly, for the rating and especially the heart!
Comment: Hello Sharon! Thank you for the pc with the activity that is special to your library. Unfortunately, I would never be able to attend the Paws to Read day... allergies would send me back home in a hurry! I bet your daughter loves working at the library :-)
Response: That's too bad. Yes, my daughter loves working at the library! Thanks for the rating and the heart!
Comment: Thank you for the lovely note. What is a "hobo pie", never heard of it before, LOL
Response: A hobo pie is two pieces of bread with pie filling between them. They are cooked in "hobo-pie makers" over a fire so that they come out looking like an individual piece of pie. We also used to make them with tomato sauce and cheese for pizza pies. They are really good.
Thanks for the rating btw.
Comment: interesting list.I enjoy watching Amish films...this must have been shocking for your ancestors...great that you included pictures of the books too.
Response: Yes, when I first heard about it, it was hard to imagine, but they weren’t the only family in that situation. We just had someone willing to put the story in print. Thank you for the rating and especially the heart!
Comment: Thanks for your email!! I love that you are able to take part in book clubs, it seems that the ones at my local library have age restrictions are for ladies 40+. Since I'm only 25, I guess I've got some time to work on my own "to read" lists. I love all the programs that yours has, it far out does my local library! I loved reading your email! Have a great week (:
Response: Thank you for the nice comment. I love our library, too.
Thanks for the heart!
Comment: Thank you for the beautiful Covered Bridge card. I have always loved them and walking on them.
Response: it's beautiful in real life, too. My niece and her husband got married there. It was very nice.
Sorry I didn't do this sooner, but I just figured out how to respond to a comment - thanks for the heart!
Comment: Hi Sharen!
First of all, I love that the notecard was one from the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation! My whole family went there (some of us, again) for our July 4th week summer holiday. I love it there, especially because I always try to tip the vacation toward a variety with some educational options. Haha.
Your weekend sounds excellent! If your weekend were mine, the only part I wouldn't have 100% been interested in is "How to Succeed..." I'd be happy to support my neighbors/community but my two friends took me to see it on Broadway with Dani Radcliffe and I nearly feel asleep! I love musicals, but I was terribly bored by that one.
It's cool that you share your skills and talents, and that you also chill with your daughter. I'm 28, and part of what has driven (drives) me crazy about my small little family is that we spend a lot of time together, but that's also what makes it great! I love the idea of your Sunday dinner-it reminds me of the tv show Blue Bloods. It looks fun, if a little chaotic. My family consists of only my parents, my brother and sister, my mom's dad and sister, my dad's brother and my mom's mother's brother (and his wife), so even though it still feels chaotic for get-togethers, we're a small 10 people maximum. Haha.
You won't get a card from me, because what they do is randomly assign it, it's not an even swap; you'll get one from someone else. I hope you enjoy it though, and I wanted to respond after your lovely note!
Response: I just figured out how to respond to a comment! Silly me! Thanks for the heart and the wonderful comment.
