It's nice that you put down that you read the FAQ and that you want to do things right, I think that people don't mind if you make a mistake as long as you did your best! I also wonder sometimes if I did something the right way, but people here are very nice.
I googled Smash Book, and that looks like so much fun! I can imagine you spending lots of time on it. It's such fun to be creative :D

I was 12 when I came! My mother brought me and my two sisters (7 and 10). I'm glad they were here with me, so I had some people who spoke the same language I did. Coming to the US was weird because a lot of people speak Spanish but differently than we do, kinda like British v. American English. So there were many words I didn't understand when people spoke to me.
Did you move to Germany on your own, or did you go with family?
If you love lots of books (or music, TV or movies) and can't list them all, maybe just name your super favourites and then some favourite authors, bands/singers, style of music or movies, actors etc. And it also depends on what you swap. Be most specific about things you'd like to swap. For instance, what style of Art you like matters if you swap ATCs or paper crafts like vinatge, clean and simple, shabby, elegant... Your favourite makeup brands and what complexion you have if you want to swap makeup etc. What postcards types you like if you collect them. What yarns you like to use it would like to try if you knit or crochet. It's all so people can get to know you, tailor swaps to suit you or send little extras you might like which is quite common. Sometimes people with similar interests will become friends!
