Ok I have to try it out and see if I can make it then I can join. Thanks for the tutorial, I love hand made ornaments:)

Question, every time I go to the tutorial it shows up and then immediately goes to a page about back to school and keeps pop ups coming up about financial aide, so I can't print the pattern to try. Is this normal or is there something wrong with my computer?

Amigirl 10/11/2011 #

just click on the x in the right hand corner of the ad, where it says: skip this ad, and you'll see the page again, Then you'll be able to print it out.

Thank you I got it now, I am going to try and see if I can make it. I have never crocheted with thread before, so I am very excited to try this.

my pineapple is fat. I don't think I did it right

TerryF 10/21/2011 #

Can you block it into shape?

I havent attempted a pineapple pattern yet, so for now this swap is on my watchlist. I think Im gonna try a practice run first! Already printed out the pattern & cant wait to go:)

Ugh...I haven't been able to make this pattern work into a nice clean pineapple ornament. I am not sure if it is the pattern or me???? If worse comes to worse, I've made a lovely crocheted snowflake to send if I really can't figure this ornament out.

If you are having trouble with the pattern, here are some directions with pictures (I like pictures).

OK, I've figured it out! There is a flaw in the pattern! It is in the line that covers rows 6-8! If anybody needs the modified row 6-8, I have it now and I'm willing to share it. That is the only big flaw in the pattern. There is some confusion down in the last two rows as well. Here is what I did and it turned out like the picture:
Do pattern up to Row 6-8,
Row 6-8: sl st in 1st 2 sts, beg shell in 1st shell, ch 2, sk next ch-2 sp, sc in 1st ch-3 sp, ch 3, sc in next ch-3 sp, across to last ch-3 sp, ch 2, skip next ch-2 sp, shell in ch-2 sp of next shell. Turn. Then follow the pattern down until you reach row 15:
Row 15: sl st in 1st 2 st, ch 3 and then dc in the ch-2 sp in shell, then make 2 dcs in next shell. Turn.
/row 16: sl st in 1st 2 st, ch 3 in little space between the two groups of 2 dc, for a picot-type thingie at the tail-end of the ornament. Fasten off.
