Description:

I've always loved those cheesy, old-school ransom notes made from letters cut out of magazines =) For this swap, you will be making a postcard for your partner in the same style. The theme/message are open to you and the only limit is your own imagination... pick a background image for a base and then glue the letters for your message on top. Make sure you glue or seal them down well enough that they will survive mailing! Then throw a stamp on that beautiful card, write a quick note to your partner, address it, and drop it in the mail! Who knows what sort of response you might get from them in return ;)

OK, just to clarify: the message you put on your postcard is not asking for a ransom. The message can be anything you wish -- even something as simple as "Have an awesome day!" The only caveat is that your message must be written using cut-out letters, in the style of old cheesy movie ransom notes.

Open to anyone with a rating of 4.8 or higher as well as newbies with a well-filled out profile. I reserve the right to ban anyone who looks sketchy. I will angel this swap as necessary. If this swap gets a good response, I will probably host it again as it is a theme that I love. If you are going to be late sending your card, you need to communicate with me as well as your partner. Don't be a flaker please -- I will hassle you and be super annoying about it ;)

This looks like so much fun! Great idea =)

This was done two weeks ago and it was determined that it could be very dangerous to send a ransom type of naked postcard in the mail.

We live in times that the police would arrest then ask questions. the mail man would call the police and then ask questions.

We live in a world where terrorism takes ugly faces and something like this could be determined to be a terrorist act.

Please reconsider this and have the cards sent in an envelop.

Those of us that did the other swap, had a blast and we sent in the envys so that no one could get in ant trouble.

I sure hope that you reconsider this.

The message on the postcard itself is not a ransom note. It can be as simple as "Have a great day" or "Be awesome." The point of the swap is that the letters are cut out of magazines and glued on, in they style of cheesy movie ransom notes. Again, the message itself is not demanding any sort of ransom. I have no idea why this would be a problem.

LOL! This is such a great idea! I love it!

And I don't think it has to be in an envelope like @fawnscrafts suggests...after all, it is NOT a ransom note message, but a message using letters cut out of a magazine like a CRAFT. Super cool idea, and I just have to join up! This is a nice twist on a postcard swap!

:)

I think i'm going to do it ransom note style on BOTH sides...big letters altering the image on front, and smaller letters on the back (so i can fit a longer message back there). Then i think i am going to packing tape the whole thing so letters don't fall off in the mail...

@LeSillyMe - that sounds totally awesome!!! =)

Since it is not a ransom note it should be Ok, just remember no threats, to keep you safe....

It was fun the other swap, because we did do it is a ransom type style. And when you have the right words is a junk mail letter it made it awesome.
