The door must be no smaller than 4 inches and no larger than 8 inches. Color choices, design and style are completely up to the creator of the fairy door. No special requests. Looking at profile for colors is a great idea, but not required.

Below are links to sites that offer 100's of images for inspiration. Feel free to copy any of them or come up with your own ideas.

If I get a lot of interested people in this swap, I will host a monthly series.

This will be International because of the low weight.

I have also set the dead line far, far off so you can get started and have it ready to go~

I LOVE THESE!!!

Arabella 12/ 4/2011 #

So...do these really work? If we make these and swap them and put them out in our gardens, will they really attract fairies??? And how do you know if they attract good fairies or bad fairies?

RyeRye 12/ 4/2011 #

Oh hell ya's they work. That is where the fairies come from for the captured fairy in a jar swap that comes around once in a blue moon. Now if you are a bad person, Karma will snap yer butt and you get really bitchy fairies. Good peeps get sweet, lovable but shy fairies.

Where have you been not to know this?

Arabella 12/ 5/2011 #

So, no matter how awesome a door I receive in this swap, I'm still going to end up with a bunch of bitchy little fairies.

The doors that we receive, do we get new fairies for our neck of the woods or do those doors come with fairies from the maker?

RyeRye 12/ 6/2011 #

yes bella, you get the bunged up fairies.

No Flo. They don't come with fairies. The door will attract them. Build it and they will come.

I sent one made from birchbark and other New England woods and materials to my friend in Florida who had moved from Vermont, and she said her Vermont Fairies winter down there now!! ;) They've become Snowbird Fairies! lol

Okay, now here's another new craft to keep me busy. I viewed the images and they are just beautiful!!! Now to ask my son to get me some wood - good thing he is the carpenter for a new home builder and I can gets lots of supplies for free. Hope someone wants some Canadian fairies.

I'd like to try making one of these before I try to swap it. How do the doors attach to the tree? I live on a farm - will they attract farm fairies and gnomes? Maybe ones that would clean the stalls while I am sleeping?

skippysmom 12/19/2011 #

One more question - do the doors actually open?

carterj 12/19/2011 #

I heard that only fairies can open the doors.

waterpixie 12/20/2011 #

I think it depends on the door. Some fairies are really secretive. but even if they do open I bet you can't see inside their special world. Probably just a wall or something.

RyeRye 12/20/2011 #

They do not have to open~
