Description:

If you have taken part in any of the previous rounds of this swap you should have received a journal from your partner that you can add a few recipes to and send on.

However, if this is your first round you will get a Composition book, decorate it or cover it if you like. The reason I chose this is because they have nice big pages to write on, and if all the journals are the same the shipping costs will be similar for everyone. Plus there is so much you can do with them as far as altering or decorating if you chose.

On the first page write your name and the swap name and in the back write your address and a note to return the journal home to you when it is full. This will be a monthly swap. What you will do is find a recipe, anything at all, from something you make all the time to something you would love to try. Whatever you can think of. Write one recipe in the book with your name and swap name. Include a short little letter to your partner saying why you chose that recipe on a separate sheet of paper, and then mail off to your partner. Next month in a separate swap you will take that journal you received and write a recipe and pass it on. We will keep going as long as there is interest. Please only put in realistic and usable recipes, the point is for people to find cool new recipes to try out.

The fine print: Anyone is welcome to join who has a well filled out profile, newbies included with at least 5 mailed swaps completed. If you have 1's or 3's please make sure that they are explained somewhere in your profile or PM me and explain. Please don't flake, this is someone else's recipe book you've got, after all.

When you get your partner's book, send them a PM to let them know who has it. It's a courtesy thing and it's kind of fun to know where your book is in its travels.

You will have until January 31st to sign up, and then a few weeks to send. If there are any questions, please ask.

I think this sounds like a lot of fun but I am a little confused, which is not hard with me, if this is your first round do you send us the book and if so do we send you money and how much? Do we get the book before the deadline so we can send it off on time ready to go? Thanks for your time and patience with my questions. Diana

Hi Diana, for the first round, you pick up your own composition book and decorate it if you wish. From there, you write your name/swap name/special requests (if you're a vegan, you don't want meat recipes, etc...), a recipe, and then put your address on the back page. Send it out to your partner once they're assigned. Hope that helps!

This sounds awesome. But I too have a question. So we mail both the comp book with our recipe added, and the letter (not inside the book) to our partner, right? Are we to decorate our "spread" at all? should the recipe take up only 1 page (1 side of a "spread), or the whole spread? Are we responsible for looking through the persons book to make sure the recipe we are planning to include isn't very similar to one they already have in their book? Sorry for so many questions, but I am really interested in this swap and want to make sure how to best participate. Thanks for hosting such a fun swap!

Hi Linbur...let's see....You can decorate your "spread," if you wish. The recipe can take as much room as it needs to. I've sent out one book with a recipe that took a spread and a half. The recipe is your choice (so you don't HAVE to check), however, if the owner has requested certain items (no meat, no gluten, etc), it might be polite to consider those guidelines.

I have a tiny suggestion... maybe this could be considered to be added into the swap requirements? (again... just a suggestion) I'd like to kind of keep track of my book (my OCD tendencies are showing here... :) and I was wondering if swap participants wouldn't mind sending out an email to the book owner to let them know that they've received their book in the current round??? That way we can make sure our books are still in circulation. I know who I sent my book originally to, but I"m not sure who has it now after another round. For example, today I received Doodlebugs Mom's book from Janet S. So, I would send Doodlebug's Mom a message to just let her know that her book has arrived to me safe and sound....

Don't want to step on any toes here, so it's just a suggestion. Thanks!

Great idea, yomeow, and I'm sorry I didn't get back to you. Added to the swap.

I'm signed up for this swap, but have not received a book from my partner for #9 yet. Will I have to make another new book for myself to pass onto my partner for this round? Or do will I have to drop out of this round?

institches 01/26/2012 #

Whew....book arrived today and I'll work at getting it done for this round.

JennyMarie 01/27/2012 #

Quick question how many rounds before you get your book back

Pyxidragon 01/28/2012 #

When it's full or when you request it back.

lemorton 01/29/2012 #

Will you be sending the book you received to the same partner every time? For example if I am # 12 signing up will I send to # 1 and #1 will send to #2 and #2 will send to #3 and so on, so all the books will systematically go to each one in the group? and then finally I get my book back? Hope this is not a silly question. I am loving this swap,

Pyxidragon 01/29/2012 #

Lemorton, you'll get a new partner each time.

Marata 01/30/2012 #

boy, I am signing up late in the game for this swap, should I bough out and wait for a new book to start>???

shelbysbarn 01/31/2012 #

@Marata I just started on the last one #9, not sure how long it will continue but I'm enjoying it so far!

Turtle17 01/31/2012 #

This sounds so fun :) I think I will jump in. I love sharing recipes.

Pyxidragon 02/ 1/2012 #

@ Shelbysbarn - I'm planning on going until my book fills up. At that time, I'm either going to start a new book or hand off the responsibility for coordinating to someone else. Either way, I won't leave you guys hanging.

doodlebugsmom 02/ 7/2012 #

I have tried to send the person who started the book I just got a om or email telling them where it was but I cannot find their contact information because they are not in this swap. Their book is from experiment #8.

Marata 02/13/2012 #

Holly I have your book, sorry I didn't know what your swap name was by your book so I didn't know how to send you an email to let you know.

angellarae 02/16/2012 #

Does anyone have my book by chance?

annasmom03 02/19/2012 #

I have happycrazylion's book.....don't see her in this swap.
