This is @MichelleWillow 's swap idea.

Please see this thread for more info on beginner's swaps in TPD.

Iris folding is a technique that originated in Holland. Color coordinated strips of folded paper are taped into place over a pattern, creating a spiralling design that resembles the iris of an eye or camera. Originally, Dutch crafters would cut their strips from envelopes with patterned interiors, but now it is common to use lightweight papers including those used for origami to create iris folded designs.

Here is a place to start learning all about it, and if you google it, you will find tons more.

We will make our partner 1 finished item (sender's choice) that incorporates the iris folding technique.

A few ideas:

  • ATC
  • note card (with an envelope to match please)
  • PC
  • tag
  • bookmark
  • ornament

Have fun!

Please Note:

I know this is a really great group of swappers, and I try to keep up on profile checks, but just in case you do not receive your swap within a reasonable period of time, and have tried but cannot work it out with your partner, please do let me know. I will always angel (or arrange an angel) for you if you do not receive your swap, as long as you have rated your partner a 1.

If you have posted a question below, would you please also pm me to let me know as I don't check my swaps every day. Thx.

I've always wanted to try my hand at Iris folding! Im going to practice before I join just to make sure I can actually do it ok!

I guess I am much more reckless - I just pitch in and do it, whether I have ever done it before or not. And then panic as I redo it 10 times right down to the swap deadline! lol

Watching for now, going to buy some paper today and see if I can do this. I made a pillow using the same techinque (but with fabric) and it was fun.
