Location:International
Type:Type 2: Flat mail
Rating requirement:4.95 (unrated swappers allowed)
Last day to signup/drop:February 1, 2013
Date items must be sent by:February 11, 2013
Number of swap partners:1
Description:

For this swap, you will send a postcard to your partner and answer on back following question:

How much the coffee costs at your favorite cafe (please use local currency)?

We'll have a different Question each turn and in this way learn a little bits of other countries and places.

Postcard is sender's choice (meaning all kinds of cards are acceptable including store-bought, handmade, free, etc.). Although, it's always a nice thing to make another person happy so you might like to check your partners profile and send them postcard they would like.

Don't forget to write your SB name as well as name of the swap on postcard.

I'll keep this open for newbies with well written profiles. Otherwise, minimum rating 4.95 but no one with unresolved 1s or 3s can enter. I'll check prior to assigning partners. And, yes, I will angel if needed AFTER you rate your partner with 1 and let me know about it.

Questions and comments welcome - leave them below and I'll respond asap.

Great idea. I will join, and have you on the watch list as I tend to play close to the 20 swap limit. Thanks for hosting this, This whole series sounds great.

Already made mine up!

Since this is international and those outside of USA need to write it in USD also, shouldn't we un the USA write it in our partners money also, if they are not in USA?

MichelleWillow 01/26/2013 #

@fawncrafts No need. Once we joined Swap-bot, we all learned $ rate by heart! LOL! ;)

ChelseaLake 01/30/2013 #

Cute! I hope you do a bunch of these!

This is a great idea for a swap! ^_^ I hope that you create a whole series of these swaps, as I would love to learn more about the 'little things' from other countries x

@MichelleWillow I agree with @fawnscrafts about writing the currency. I actually find it offensive to be required to write in my own currency AND convert into US dollars, whereas there is no onus on Americans to write the cost in the currency used by other participants. Just saying,

MichelleWillow 02/ 1/2013 #

@Lizard then you get easily offended. ;) As much as I would like that Croatian Kuna is one of main world currencies, it would be possible only in Utopia. So, I don't expect everyone to know a change rate for kuna, I'm happy enough people are aware that country named Croatia even exists.

Let's do it this way: Write only in local currency. So who ever gets it can recalculate themselves in their own country's currency.

I'll change it now in description prior to assigning partners.

Neeky8 02/ 1/2013 #

Thanks for changing it @MichelleWillow I too prefer it to be written only in the currency where it's being sent from. If the postcard was being sent to me from Croatia, a conversion into USD is not needed for me since I'm in Australia. I'd just convert it from Croatian to Australian. :) Great idea for a swap - I love postcard swaps with Q's, so I look forward to many more of these! :)

No problem. ;)

For anyone who might have missed, Q & A Postcard #2 swap is already up, with sign up date on February 8th.

I would love to know for instance how the cost of a cup of coffee relates to income.

For instance the minimum wage in the USA is $7.35 an hour, and I know we can get into debates about each state, but lets not. http://www.dol.gov/whd/minwage/america.htm http://www.dol.gov/whd/minwage/america.htm#Arizona

But a Latte cost at starbucks cost me $4.85 with the tax by the time I check. Not sure what a coffee cost there. I dont like their coffee as much as I like Lattes. But of course the question is about my favorite place. Not disclosed here.
