Description:

Anybody else want to play along with the Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2013 with me? I've fallen in love with altered art tags.

For this swap you will make 1 altered art tag for 1 partner. But here's the catch...your tag should use AT LEAST one technique from the Tim Holtz tag tutorial for that month. I'm hoping we can learn new techniques together while swapping these tags.

This swap is for the January tag tutorial which can be found here: Tim Holtz January 2013 tag tutorial Please look at the tutorial to be sure you're using at least one technique from there. You can copy that exact tag, pull inspiration from it or vary the theme - get creative! Just use at least one technique from that tag.

If there is enough interest, I will post a new swap each month when Mr. Holtz posts his tutorial for that month.

Specifics:

  • Please use a #8 size shipping tag made from sturdy material like manilla card, chipboard, etc.

  • the #8 tag measure 6 1/4" long by 3 1/8" wide and can be purchased at craft stores, office supplies, or cut at home with notched corners or dies)

  • altered art tags must have some kind of string, ribbon or other type of hanger through the tag hole - sometimes more is better! The january tag uses stamped and dyed ribbon - maybe you could try that?

  • You are not required to use all Tim Holtz materials for this swap - but it helps to have that brand in order to learn the techniques. I mix the Tim stuff with my own vintage stash and other brands all the time!

  • use at least 1 technique from the January tag tutorial linked above

  • use at least 3 different techniques or embellishments on the tag - send something you would be impressed to receive! Sticker slapping is a slap in the face to Tim Holtz fans and considered shameful

  • Tag theme and color is senders choice.

  • All levels are welcome, even if you're new to the Tim Holtz style. The techniques are wonderful and transfer over to other styles as well.

What else? Questions? - just ask me for clarification.

I'm sure this is a super safe group. But if you get flaked on - let me know and I can mediate and angel for you.

(photo is my own tag I made from the January tutorial, but not necessarily the one I will be swapping :-)

I looked up the 2013 postage rates...

flatter & less bulky tags can ship with a stamp in a business envelope - plz verify your weight to be sure you have enough stamps!!

Bulky or heavily embellished tags are best shipped in 6x9" bubble envies using thick envelope rates. If under 3 oz and 3/4" thick these will cost $1.64 USA and $2.25 to Canada.

If you have a paypal account, you can print postal labels at home for 1st class packages using this link
