Description:

Over the years I've made a lot of different things. And though I've made jewelry I've never made earrings out of buttons. Yes, buttons!

So I thought we should make button earrings because I'd really like a pair! :-)

I've included a link to a great tutorial that we're going to use. (You may need to copy/paste the URL, I don't remember how to set these up as live links, sorry!)

Link: http://www.cabbeet.com/blog/2012/08/21/diy-button-earrings

And now for the rules (I know, I know...).

  1. You will make one pair of button earrings using the tutorial I've provided for one partner.

  2. Please use the tutorial noted above as your guide. You do NOT need to use plastic buttons but I'm assuming she chose plastic because the earrings will be lighter in weight. There are metal ones that are very lightweight as well.

  3. You are allowed to make earrings with fewer buttons than the tutorial shows BUT they should be at least 2" long from the bottom of the earring hook, and not just a couple of buttons in a column - be creative, have fun!

  4. Leave a comment after signing up stating your button color preferences and also whether you prefer silver or gold earring hooks (we're not talking Sterling Silver or 14K Gold, I'm referring to the basic jewelry supplies you can buy). If you do not leave a comment, it will then be completely up to the sender what they'll make for you.

  5. You should have a minimum of 25 - Type 3 swaps under your belt and no 1's or 3's in the past 12 months. I'm being fussy on purpose though I would hope in this particular group we shouldn't have to worry about anything like that.

Please be sure you have the right tools and understand how to make basic jewelry (using jump rings and attach them properly to earring hooks) prior to signing up. While it's a rather simple project, it does take a bit of finesse to get everything put together so you don't have any sharp points that will hurt our necks or ears.

I reserve the right to review all participants prior to assigning partners and remove anyone that does not meet the minimum requirements (number 4 above).

Happy Swapping, everyone!

As for my preferences:

==> I prefer silver colored hooks.

==> I like plastic buttons and metal ones

==> Any and all colors are a go for me

I'm so easy, aren't I?

Thanks!

This sounds fun. White Plastic and/or Silver Metal Buttons. If you can (my ears are having a technical difficulty, and seem to need re-pierced) please can you make them clip-ons.
