Description:

For this swap, you'll fill a small notebook or sketchbook with sketches for your partner. You can send any size you want, but the standard 9"x11" soft cover notebooks you can get at a dollar store will be the minimum for folks who need to keep postage down. The idea is not to produce a great work of art (but if you do, that's amazing!), but simply to motivate us to practice our drawing skills. They say it takes a month to pick up a new habit, so let's pick up being creative! Maybe one day you'll do a still life, the next take a stab at a zentangle, then maybe try out a cartoon or attempt to reproduce your favourite band's logo. Go wild! Just fill up 30 pages, one for each day, and send it off to your partner.

For this swap, you must have a rating of at least 4.9. Newbies are welcome. I will angel if necessary, but it won't be necessary, will it?

Silly European here, but do you mean 9 x 11 in millimetres or inches? I reckon the first, since the notebook should be small but I'd like to be sure!

Also, can we start now or should one wait for Jan 21st?

9 millimetres is awfully small! I meant a standard school size notebook, which is 8-1/2 or 9 inches. You can go ahead and start now if you want to. Life gets in the way of doing things so it might help to have a few days ahead.

This sounds like a lot of funny. I have been meaning to try out the book I bought last year, "One Drawing a Day". I'm a complete beginner at this so whoever my partner is, please have mercy on me. :)

I meant sounds like fun. Not funny.

I have been doing 4 30-day-drawing-challenges already. In those you have a list of themes to draw on that day, and I know how hard it can be. If you fall behind one day (because of work, life, whatever) it is SO hard to catch up…. and I work full time + have a good share of driving to work. I would love to participate though. Will think about it a few more days :)

inamerica8- I'm pretty much a beginner as well. The idea of the swap is to get us in the habit of drawing! No one is going to judge you based on your technical skills. Don't worry, just have fun with it!

Hi :) Is 8 1/2" by 6" okay to use, or is it too small?

oliviarrow 01/20/2014 #

Man if I wasn't so busy already I would join this. Maybe you'll host again in the future? Hope so!

inamerica8 01/20/2014 #

I have the same problem-too busy, but I sure would love to do it sometime.

Crazypineapple, That should be fine. Anything smaller than that is out, but that's big enough to get your hand moving.
