Description:

This swap is fun & easy, and a great way to use up some of those bits 'n pieces of paper some of us just can't seem to throw away after projects.

Take a piece of card stock (any color, any size) and randomly adhere all sorts of different papers to it, overlapping the edges as you go (your papers can be decorative, printed with words, plain, sparkly, etc.). The idea here is not to worry about planning – just have fun with random papers. After you have completed this step, turn the card stock over so you can't see the covered side. Draw and cut out a heart or several hearts. Turn them over and see how pretty they look with the collaged papers you chose. It's kind of like a surprise – you never know what you're going to get. Now, using the heart(s), you will make a card for your partner, to receive and enjoy. Please write a note to your partner on the inside of the card. Perhaps you will tell about how much fun you had making the card.

A few card ideas are to attach your heart to another layer and cut that out in a heart shape too, and then adhere it to the front of a blank card. You could cut tiny slits all around the heart and wrap gold thread across it to give it some further pizzazz. I'm sure you will think of other creative ideas too. In my example above, I added self-adhesive rhinestones.

This swap is sender's choice on colors/creativity. Have fun!

May we use Diecuts to cut out our heart?

ArtyBeth3 02/ 4/2014 #

Yes you may. Me? I'm stuck with drawing and cutting and thus, my hearts probably won't be as picture perfect as some, but they'll still be charming :)

can we us punches?

ArtyBeth3 02/ 5/2014 #

To cut out your hearts, feel free to use die cut machines and paper punches; also you could print out a heart template and trace around it; you could use a stencil to trace a heart, or you could do as I mentioned and just draw one. Our hearts don't have to be picture perfect, as you'll see by my example above. They can even be "Charlie Brown" hearts - as long as their loved, they'll be wonderful.

I'm excited to see that 25 people have signed up for my swap. It's the most people I've had in a swap, maybe ever! What a fun, active paper craft group!! :)

It's a great idea and speaking personally, my hearts came out WAY better than I expected. I did this with my nearly-7-year-old and we enjoyed it very much. Thanks for hosting!
