Description:

This is all about quilling for absolute beginners.

Here are the minimum requirements for this swap:

  • Make 3 coils (round shapes - the basic and easiest shape to make)
  • Use them to alter a purchased notecard (no other alterations are necessary)
  • Inside, include a note to your partner about your quilling experience

(If you want to use more coils, or add other shapes, or add more alterations, or make the whole NC from scratch, that is up to you but it is not required for this swap.)

Here are what coils look like:

Make your own quilling tool - easy and cheap - video

Please note you do NOT need a quilling ruler to do this - it's not important to have your coils perfectly matched or round. In fact, I don't care if your coils are wonky - just as long as they stayed glued together.

This is all about learning a new craft. And if you are an experienced quiller, please be kind in rating us absolute beginners. (";)

To ensure your card arrives in one piece, please do something like enclose it inside another card, cushion it with a piece of bubble wrap, or the like. I do not think it is necessary, though, to send it in a padded envelope as that significantly increases postage costs.

Have fun!

P.S. Everyone who participates in this swap will be included in a draw for an assortment of handmade envelopes. Good luck!

I think it will need to be shipped in a small box, to keep the quills from getting squished, right?

If they were not extra wide (and now tall from the page) or if you have them evenly distributed on the card then in an envie should be fine. Or, place a piece of paper over it. I've sent & received quilled ATCs with no issue.

Quilling can be done with 1/16" or 1/8" width paper. Just do your best.

I made this swap for something you send with a note (rather than something your partner will use) just in case it gets a little squished in the mail.

This is not intended to be expensive to mail.

Since this is a small group, all 3 participants will receive some random handmade envelopes. (";)
