Description:

This is a swap that I participated in a long time ago that was really fun. The previous hostess redleppard gave me permission to re-do the swap, and to use her basic description.

This is what you do: Select a mystery novel. Turn to page 15. Write down the 15th word on the page. Now write down every 15th word until you have 15 words to turn into a random poem. Keep the words in the order you found them, or switch them around to a more pleasing form--your choice. It would be nice to do some kind of artwork along with the poetry - whether it is collage or drawing or whatever you come up with. Please write the name of the book and the author on the back of the postcard.

You will be sending 1 postcard to 1 partner.

Send your postcards "as is" - not in envelopes.

I will be checking ratings, so you need a rating of 4.7 or higher. Newbies and International players are welcome! * a hint on how to get the words, if you don't have a mystery novel laying around is to go to the public library, bookstore or thrift store, get some mystery books, and get comfy. bring a note pad with you, and list the words, until you find a list you like!*

Important things to think about:

Please give time for International postcards to arrive before rating.

If you are going to be late in sending out (which really shouldn't happen, since I am giving a long time to get it done before the swap begins!) please communicate with your partner. We all know that life happens

Be kind and swap nice!

Most importantly, have fun!

If you have any questions, please pm me.

*I have edited the swap date giving more time to make the postcard. *

This was a fun idea and worked out great last time I did it. (Except for the post office mangling on Susi's card) Just a bit of info- Last time I thought you used the 15 words in a poem and had a great one started and then realized that you only* use the 15 words to make a bit of free verse poetry. And hopefully your words work out into something co-hesive. But it's fun- so I'm doing it again. Hugs

Only the 15 words? No adding to them to make them into a poem?
Should the "poem" be on the postcard front (homemade postcard) or on the back of a bought card?

only those 15 words. you can use the in the order you found them, or you can switch them around to make a somewhat cohesive poem. If you make a postcard put the words on the front, if you use a store bought postcard, put them on the back. Let me describe Missysmom's postcard she sent me a long time ago for the same swap. (hopefully she doesn't mind!) her "poem reads as follows "I'm right in all she said toward the Benson. alone, for a big want" She made the postcard using an old cigarette ad (for Benson & Hedges) and other assorted scraps I also recieved one that just had an abstract design on the front, and the words wrtten down over the design. You can type the words out and glue them on, or write them.

Man, this one seems so much harder to do. I was just lucky last time with the word Benson and having an old cigarette ad. I have tried a few books already and am still struggling. I think I got some good words yesterday though, so will be trying it out this weekend. Good thing we have some more time. This sure stretches the creative mind a bit!

Remember, it doesn't HAVE to make a lot of sense, it's just the fun of trying to do it, have fun, it's not that big of a deal! I always have some trouble with these, but somehow make something...

I got mine done today. It was difficult, and is a bit strange, but I did the best I could with the words I had to work with!
