Hi fellow paper crafters!

For this swap you'll be creating a little inspirational art journal for your partner. Your art journal should have a quote (or simple thought) on each page

  • art journal should measure between 4"x6" and 5"x7"

  • art journal should have a front & back cover and 8 pages

  • each page should be decorated with drawings, illustrations, or photos (or a combination of those)

  • quotes should be 1 each of the following themes: art, nature, love, friendship, beauty, kindness, knowledge, and time.

  • art journal should be bound at the spine in whatever manner you choose.

You have a LOT of leeway in creating your art journal. The only hard and fast rules are the number of pages and the decorated front and back covers. Any type of art is acceptable for the art journal--mixed media, collage, hand-drawn or hand-painted, or anything else you choose.

This is not meant to be a journal for writing, but instead a beautiful art journal filled with inspirational quotes/thoughts.

Never made an art journal before? Me neither! So let's all do it together and have FUN!

I'm leaving a month between sign up and send so we'll have plenty of time to work on this project.

With the 8 pages, how are we determining that? Is front and back one page or two? If it's one, when we decorate, do we decorate front and back?

Let's do front and back as 2 pages . . . . however, you might want to decorate a page and PASTE it onto the front or the back of the journal page--especially if you're a mixed media artist--that way you're not compromising the integrity of the actual page backing. This is my first time creating an art journal. I am looking forward to the experience. Does the binding need to be "hand done" or can it be spiral bound?

Spiral bound is GREAT. That way there's plenty of room to embellish the pages. I have one of those Zutter Bind-it-All I had forgotten about! I will probably do that too--thank you for the suggestion.

I so want to join but am not going to have the time to devote to creating a lovely journal! Darn JoB!!! I need to win the lottery already! ;) Hope to see this or similar again so I can play!

For page clarification: We can either put four pages in the book and decorate both sides or...we can put eight pages in and decorate one side?? Never done this before, just want to make sure I am understanding:-)

Yes @aznanagc that's correct. So long as there are 8 decorated pages with quotes, you're good to go! I have never made one either but have always wanted to.
